Unexpected Encounter

Chapter 10

After knowing that Zeus had cheated on his brother with their step sister Cristina, Shane found it easier to accept this new brother in law.

He even found it comforting.

His new brother-in-law was so much better than Zeus in many aspects. If Zeus did not know how to appreciate his brother, then that was his lost. And knowing his step sister Cristina, Shane knew Zeus would regret choosing her, in the future.

Shane looked at Leander and gently called out, "Brother-in-law."

The way he had called him satisfied Leander. And then without hesitation he immediately took off his watch and handed it to Shane. "It's an impromptu decision that I come here today. So I didn't prepared any gift. Take this, as greeting gift first."

Shane drew in a shocked breath.

That was Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime, which was the most expensive Patek watch ever sold for 31 million dollars.

How could he simply give something that cost millions to someone he just met?

Just how rich this new brother-in-law of his?

Shawn was shocked as well. "No. No. That watch was so expensive. My brother couldn't possibly accept it."

"He can because I say so." Leander said, then he stuffed the watch in Shane's hand not accepting any other response.

"Once I give something to someone, I will never asked it to be returned. You can do whatever you like with it."

Shane was astonished. He didn't reject it anymore but he still felt that the gift was too extravagant.

"Brother..." he looked towards Shawn pleadingly, as if asking for help. When all of a sudden Leander's phone rung.

Leander looked at the caller ID and picked it up. A few seconds later, he hung up.

"I have a few things I have to settle at the office, I'll attend to it first." he said to Shawn. "We'll have dinner together tonight. I'll get the chauffer to pick you up later."

He then turned to Shane. "Rest and recuperate well. If you need me be you can come to me anytime. I'll take good care of you both."

They had no idea how precious Leander's promise was. Neither did they knew what it meant for a man with such power and status to give a promise.

Leander took his leave.

Meanwhile, Shane looked at the watch in his hands with fascination, his curiosity piqued. "Brother, just what sort person is brother-in-law? Is he very rich?"

Even Zeus will not e able to give someone else a watch that cost millions so casually.

"Yeah, he's very rich."

He came from Europe's most prominent and wealthy family, the Martinez Family.

They weren't just rich. Their wealth was so immeasurable that an ordinary human couldn't begin to imagine.

"Then this watch...." Shane looked glumly at it. Unsure of how to handle this piece of valuable.

"Give it to me. This is very expensive for a gift. Don't worry I will find a way to return it to him."

Shane nodded and give it to Shawn. This gift is really extravagant. Even if Shane accept it, there's no way he could wear something so expensive. Just the thought of it sent shivers through his spine.

In any case, they may as well return it.

Turning his attention back to his brother he tilt his head, "Brother how did you meet? And how long had you've been dating?"

Shawn grew still, he he didn't knew what to say. But still, he couldn't lie to him. "Shane actually we were...already married."

Shane widened his eyes. "What?! You're already married?!"

"Yeah.."

"When?!"

"Just today. We went to get our marriage certificate before we came to see you."

He'd wanted to keep it from his brother. But since Leander had no intention of keeping their relationship under wraps, he found no reason to either.

Shane chocked on his own saliva. This was simply incredulous. He could barely believe what he was hearing.

"Brother, what exactly is going on? Was this some speed-dating going on?"

Shane was suddenly worried that his brother married another man in a spur of the moment because he was triggered by Zeus betrayal.

But still...

That new brother-in-law of his definitely do not looked like someone who would agree to be with someone he didn't like.

"Shane you do not have to worry about me. What matters to me now, is that you can finally get treated. Your new brother-in-law... He's a great heart surgeon. With him performing surgery on you, your chances of recovery were a lot higher."

When he heard his brother's words, Shane finally understood..

"Brother," his eyes go red. And his chest felt tight."You got married for my sake?"

He hadn't expected his brother to exchange his lifetime of happiness in order to get him treated.

Even if he fully recovered, he would still guilty about it.

"Shane," Shawn sighed softly and took his brother's hand. "I do not regretted it. You're brother-in-law is not some old, ugly, perverted man. There's a lot of woman wanting to marry him. Actually, I'm the one who benefited the most in marrying him."

"But brother..."

"Compare to him to Zeus, who do you think is better suited to me.."

".... Of course, it's brother-in-law."

"Exactly," Shawn softly chuckled, while he wiped his brother's tears. "I found a better man than Zeus, you should have been happy for me. Otherwise, wouldn't it be sad that I become lonely after I was abandoned."

Outside of the room of Shane Thompson's room, the siblings did not know that someone was recording their conversations, and sent a copy of it to Leander Martinez.

At the Martinez Main Company.

Leander had called for a meeting for all the Head Directors. And cellphones had to be silent in such meetings. When a phone suddenly started chirping, everybody exchange glances and tried to locate its source.

After a few seconds later, they saw the President picking up his cellphone to read a message.

Everyone was speechless.

Wasn't it against the rule to read messages during meetings?

That was odd. But that's only the beginning..

Suddenly, they saw the President smiling.

It was a brief one, but they did see it.

Leander had read the message Roan sent to him.

Roan: I heard the boy said you were married, is that true?!!!!

You made him sign the marriage certificate, promising you'll perform the surgery in his brother in exchange! I can't believe you're such a person!!

And that kind boy even said that he was the most who had benefited from your marriage.

He even said, that you're better than his ex. No wait, he asked the brother, his brother was the one who answered him.

After reading the messages, Leander's lips curled up. And replied with an arrogant tone. Yup.

What the hell that yup mean?! That you really coerce him to sign the marriage certificate in exchange for his brother's surgery?!

That I'm better than his ex.

Roan was shocked.

After a few seconds later, Roan sent another message. So you're married?

How can anyone lie about marriage?

That's impossible!!!
