Chapter 13Connor - Aftermath
Later that night, we all gathered at Ronin's palace. He had a feast prepared in celebration of our victory. He kept it intimate. It lasted well into the night and even though I was tired, it was the first night I didn't have to look over my shoulders.
During the dinner, Ronin pulled me aside needing to talk. We walked out under the stars and sat down by the veranda. His face held sorrow and it started to scare me. “What is it, Ronin?” He hesitated. “Just say it.”
“I want you to live here on Ether. You've sacrificed everything by taking in Monlow's blood and, unfortunately, that was a great price to your sanity. You now hold part of the madness that plagued his mind and body.”
