Xavier turned to face his father, his brows c****d and head tilted to the side. 'How do you mean by that?!'
The loud decorum that followed after Xavier's question did nothing to help the situation.
'What help did you render so as to make things easier for me?' Xavier asked again.
Scott rose to his feet too, swallowing the whole of Xavier's 6ft height with his.. 'What I mean son, is that your mate will infact, be moving into the Stealth Pack today. The ceremony for you both will take place in two days.'. He responded
Xavier felt astonishment flow through him like a thunderbolt. What wolf have they brought to him? Diane Stanfield, his original Luna was already in the Stealth pack, serving as a maid.
'What wolf have you brought for me?'.
Scott skidded his chair to the back, walked away from behind the table, stopped in front of his son and stared at him head on.
'Fortunately, on that day, Lucius did a good thing by trailing down the Luna you rejected, found out about her home and who exactly she is. The only daughter of the Crooks family. Isn't it?'
Xavier dismissively waved his hands in the air, chucking lightly. 'Is this some sort of joke? My mate' is no daughter of the Crooks family. You've gotten this all wrong.'
Luna Melanie's cutlery clanked on the table as she dropped her cutlery without warning.
'We've had enough of your bullshit excuses, Xavier. There's absolutely no lies you'll tell that'll stop the ceremony from holding. Claim your Luna even if you hate her. I'm sure y'all will figure out something once you get together. If you Don't want to, then drop the title and leave it to someone who well deserves it!' she blurted..
Xavier spun around, annoyed again that she interfered in their discussion. 'Tell me, Luna Melanie. By someone who best deserves it. You mean your son, right?'
'He's a full blooded wolf not an half!' she snapped.
'Mother!' Ace called from where he sat quietly the whole time.. 'Please, stop doing this'.
'Enough!' Scott growled. 'The ceremony is in two days, Xavier. You mustn't threaten her or make her leave this pack. I'll have them announce to all the pack members this evening such great news that has befall the pack'.
A muscle ticked in Xavier's jaw. 'I'm telling you father, you've got the wrong person. My mate is no Crooks child!'.
'I shall hear no complain or rantings from you anymore. All I need from you is to get prepared for the ceremony.'.
Xavier frantically stomped out of the dining hall, the urge to punch something or someone in the face momentarily overwhelming him.. From the quick footsteps he heard behind, he knew Ace was behind him.
'I knew the family gathering wouldn't end up well!'
'Why didn't you tell me about what happened,? Why did you reject your Luna in the first place too? Was she that bad?!'.
'I've gone through enough, Ace. I'm not willing to talk about it for now!'
'Well, I do not Care, brother!' Ace shot back.. 'You owe me an explanation! I thought we were close enough to share everything and anything together.'.
'Spare me those talks for now, brother! I'd explain everything to you when the time comes!' Xavier snarled.
A little creak noise was heard as they passed through the largest front room in the mansion. Xavier paused in his tracks, visually searching for where the noise must have come from. The intoxicating scent of a sweet, flower smell reached his nostrils. His heart started to beat erratically against his chest once he found out it was her.
'Show yourself!' he ordered.
She soon came out from behind the door, already relaying her apologies. 'I'm sorry. I didn't mean to..'
'Little sneaky wolf! Are you stalking me, now?!'
Diane rubbed her palms apprehensively. 'I'd never do that to the Alpha!'
'Rather than questioning an innocent mansion maid, I think you should spend time preparing yourself to meet your Luna and get mentally prepared for your ceremony, brother!'
Diane caught interest in the conversation and even though she knew it'd be wrong to ask, she still did. 'What ceremony? What Luna?' Her pulse quickened in anticipation. Is he ready to announce to the pack that she is his, finally claim her, maybe? All hopes dashed when she caught the wicked grin on the Alpha's face. 'Hailey Crooks, My Luna will be coming in today from the Crescent Pack. I want you to help her settle down, prepare her for the ceremony where I get to announce her as my Luna. You must treat her with as much respect as you treat me, Understood?!'

Diane did her possible best to keep it together till Alpha Xavier went out of sight. She ran into the room, curled up on the bed and reminisce over again what the Alpha had said his incoming Luna is. She couldn't find an adjective that's good enough to portray what she really did feel at that moment. Betrayal? From her mate and those she called her family. She refused to believe they know nothing about the Alpha of Stealth pack `being her maid. That day at the banquet, they had watched her closely. Closely enough to suspect what must have transpired between her and the Alpha. Now, they're ready to give out their own daughter to a mate that's not even hers?!
Hailey Crooks. Her very own mean, pompous, step sister. Did the Alpha know this? Was he doing this intentionally to make her writh in more and more pain? With an overwhelming sense of determination, Diane rose to her feet, took the pouch bag of money she had always wanted to return to the Alpha and went into his office. Diane arrived within space of seconds, was stopped by the guard at the entrance when she tried to barge in.
'What do you seek?'.
'I need to see the Alpha!' She uttered impatiently. She had limited time and must make immediate use of it if she really wants to convince the Alpha to change his choice of his 'Luna'
The guard swept Diane with his gaze. 'And who are you to the Alpha? His mother, sister, brother, mate?' he scoffed. 'A lowly maid doesn't get the right to see the Alpha except he asks to see them. So leave now!'.
Diane shook her head. 'That's not true'.
'I Don't care if it's the truth or not. You're not allowed to see the Alpha. After all, he's busy and won't have time for you'.
If only she had enormous power, Diane knew she would have beaten the annoying guard to a pulp and Make an entry. After getting successfully ignored by this guard, she turned around to leave. Just then, the bell was heard. It was only heard when there's a need to gather for an important information. Diane went to the pack's ground, anticipating to hear whatever announcement it is that they wanted to make. It did come, left its trail and shattered her whole world.
'The Alpha has found his Luna. Hailey Crooks of the Crescent Pack. The ceremony will be hosted in two days. I implore you all to play your significant roles to make it a memorable one for the pack.'

A sudden burst of the door to Alpha Xavier's office made him jerk on his chair... He consciously rose to his feet once he discovered who made an unexpected entry into his office. Acting on impulse, he moved swiftly, pinned his unwelcomed visitor to the wall, his sword pressed against his neck while he seethed in an obvious rage. A lot of people do get on his nerves but this breed just hits differently. An ungrateful gobshite. One he really yearned to s***h but couldn't bring himself to.. Rather than asking for mercy or fighting his way out of Xavier's grip, Xavier watched in cringe as his beta, Lucius let out a shrill laughter, his head tilted to the side..
'You need to see your face right now, Alpha!'
Xavier didn't miss the contempt that came with the word 'Alpha'.
'Where have you been all along? Wandering around and doing things to get on my nerves?!'
He quirked up his eyebrows. 'I've always been right besides you, you only failed to notice'.
Xavier gripped his neck even tighter. 'I could kill you this instant!'
Lucius let out another hysterical laughter, not bothered in any way. 'As if you really would. I'm your one weakness. we both know that!'
Teeth gnashing in restrained anger, he let his beta go. 'Glad you came by. I wanted to have a word with you' he mentioned, a whole lot calmer than he was a second ago.
'About what..... Or who?'.
'Why did you do that?'
'I did what needed to be done, Alpha. I couldn't stand by and watch you ruin yourself by rejecting your destined mate'
Xavier scoffed. 'It wasn't a mistake, was it?'.
Lucius took long strides to a chair, helped himself to it, his legs crossed and elbows leaning on the table. 'No. It wasn't' he chuckled. 'Your mate, Diane Stanfield. Adopted daughter of the Crooks family... I know her more than you imagine, Alpha'
Xavier crossed his arms in his chest. 'Then tell me why you brought in a fake. To piss me off? I can easily reject her and send her back to the pack where she belongs.'.
'It's not Within your power anymore. Reject her and have the pack reject you too,' he pointed out.
Xavier balled his hands into fists. 'What's your motive?'.
Lucius smirked. 'That's for me to know and for you to find out.. as to why I'm here today. It's to inform you about your most unexpected visitor. It's in your pack now. I'm sure you're yet to find out about it. Make sure you look out for yourself. I do hate you but I Don't want you dying a pitiful death' he shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly. 'To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Isn't that how they say it?'.
'Who is this visitor you speak of?'.
'The rogue wolf, Xavier. It's here'
