Abby's POV
I'm not sure what just happened. I went from a full anxiety attack to calm, awkwardly curled up on Zebrik's lap with my face buried in the nape of his neck. I didn’t even feel the nurse give me the shot. What came over me? It felt like I went into auto mode when the doctor said I could only have this magical concoction for a week.
One thing is for sure — this whole mate thing is weird.
I followed Mom into her room as I heard Zebrik say he was going to take a shower. I thought he took one when we got here? Maybe I’m just tired. Mom handed me a glass of water and pointed to the seat at the little table in her room.
"Abby, honey, we need to talk."
