Violet was helping her mother get some things ready at her home when Constance came knocking on the door of the palatial mansion. One of the maids answered the door and recognizing the very pregnant woman, opened it and ushered her in. "I'm so sorry, Mathilde," Constance told her. "But I was on my way home from visiting Bettina and I had to use the bathroom. I swear I peed right before I left Bettina's but the baby kicked my bladder and- oh, where is the damned bathroom again? I have the worst case of pregnancy brain ever. They should do a study on mine alone." Chuckling, Mathilde reminded the frazzled woman where the hallway bathroom was and came back into the sitting room where Violet was placing place settings for the next day.
