Hunter "It was so kind of you to throw us an engagement party!" Dahlia beamed, pulling my mom in for a hug. "It's the least we could do." She smiled. "Your mom looks like she is adjusting to our kind well." I glanced over my shoulder to see her petting someone. Gods help me. "Yeah, she - oh my god - mom! That's a person!" Dahlia yelled, only to be ignored completely. "She took the news better than most." I agreed, veering back to our conversation. "She actually likes me now," I added with a cheesy smile. Dahlia backhanded me playfully, a smirk pulling at her lips just as the next group of people approached to congratulate us. It was a surprise - this party. We were told we would be having a family dinner at the lake house, and found nothing short of a small army waiting for us.
