Adrian's pov The girls terrified cries echoed through the ballroom. "Father!" she sobbed. "Please do something!" Michael took a step forward. "Let her go Adrian," he said, his voice darkening. "One more step and I'll blow her brains out," I warned. "These ain't ordinary bullets if you must know," I said, gesturing to the gun. "These are silver, dipped in wolvebane. So I'd think twice before you speak or do anything stupid." "Father!" the girl whined, her voice grating on my nerves. "Please don't let me die." "Your father is helpless sweetheart," I smiled coldly, my gaze flickered to Michael. "There's nothing he can do to save you." Michael swallowed, sweat beaded his forehead. "You don't have to do this Adrian," he said, his voice low. "She's innocent, I'm the one that killed your mate take it out on me not on my family." A hollow laugh escaped me, devoid of any real amusement, carrying only malice. "My Mate was also innocent but you killed her and now I want you to feel the same pain ." The gun fired. The sound shattered the silence. His daughter collapsed onto the marble floor. Blood pooling around her. The entire ballroom went quite except for Michael's Luna. The woman rushed toward the body, kneeling besides it. " Emma?" She called out, shaking the body. "Emma wake up!" she cried, tears pouring down her face. "Don't waste your time she's already dead," I said, my voice cold and flat. Cassandra looked up at me, grief twisting into rage. "You monster!" she growled, charging toward me. I didn't wait, I pulled the trigger. The shot echoed around the room. She jerked to a halt, her body reacting to the sudden blow before she staggered, struggling to keep her balance. Michael surged forward, his eyes blazing with anger. "You bastard!" I lifted the gun, aiming at him. "One more step closer and you will be next." "I'm not afraid of you Adrian," he roared. "You're a coward!" he said, clenching his fists. "You can't fight like a man because you're weak, you were always weak. You couldn't even save Marissa." Rage boiled beneath my ribs, violent and choking. "Don't you dare speak of her name," I warned quietly. A slow, wicked smile curved his lips, devoid of warmth and filled with malicious intent. "Marissa was a beautiful woman and I couldn't resist f*****g her right before I killed her." The sound of another gunshot shattered the tension. Michael stumbled backward. Gasps echoed throughout the ballroom. "Father!" A petite woman with long chestnut hair and emerald green eyes rushed forward, dropping to her knees beside Michael. Her scent hit me immediately, fresh rain and Wildflowers making my wolf stir. "Please," she begged, looking up, her eyes locking with mine. Mate. My wolf roared. Every instinct inside me demanded I go to her. I stared at her in disbelief. No this can't be happening. She can't be my mate. I already had a mate and she's dead. "Please don't kill him," she whispered. "You ask me for mercy," I said, my voice low and cold. "Did your father show mercy when he took my mate from me?" Her face paled. "Please..." she whispered again. My expression shifted from disbelief to fury. No matter what happens I'm never going to accept her as my mate. She's Michael's daughter. I turned to Luca. "Gather the rest of Michael's offsprings I'm going to put an end to his bloodline." ____________________________________________________ Claire's pov I dropped to my knees beside Michael, my hands trembling as I pressed them against the wound in a desperate attempt to stop the bleeding. "Father..." My voice broke. Michael's breathing was uneven, each breath more strained than the last. I know I shouldn't feel an ounce of pity toward him. He didn't deserve it after everything he put me through but he was still my father. "Please," I begged, looking up and meeting his gaze. "Please don't kill him." Adrian's jaw tightened. "Your father is the reason my mate is dead." I couldn't imagine the loss of losing a mate. What Michael did was awful and what Adrian did was wrong. He killed Emma, she didn't have anything to do with his mates death. She was innocent and as for Cassandra I'm not sure whether she had a hand in it. "Let go off me!" Ethan's voice rang in the air, cutting through my thoughts. I turned to see him being dragged by his shirt by one of Adrian's men. "Alpha," the man said, shoving Ethan on the floor beside me. "The other daughter is missing." Adrian's expression darkened. "Search the entire pack house I want her found immediately." The man nodded, turned around and left. Adrian's gaze shifted to Ethan, Michael and then to me. "You think you've won?" Ethan spat. "You're nothing but a—" His words died in his throat. I stared in horror. He collapsed onto the marble floor, motionless, blood pooling around his body. I looked up slowly, meeting Adrian's cold gaze. "You killed him," I whispered. He lifted his weapon slightly, aiming at me. I stopped breathing. He was going to kill me. I had nothing to do with any of this and he was going to end my life. Not so long ago I planned to leave this miserable pack and start my life afresh with Kimberly by my side and now I'm going to die because of what Michael had done. Seconds passed. I watched his hand tighten and then loosen on the gun. Something flickered across his face. Conflict, rage and hesitation. He clenched his jaw, lowering the weapon. He turned around and walked away. What was that about? Why didn't he kill me? Relief and confusion crashed into me all at once. Before I could process either emotion, Adrian stopped walking. He turned to one of his men. "Luca." A tall, muscular man with short dark hair stepped forward. "Take her," he gestured to me. I froze. Where is he taking me? Hopefully not to his pack. I'm not leaving and definitely not with Adrian. He's a monster just like everyone else. Luca approached me. "No!" I scrambled backward. "No, please!" He caught hold of my arm before I could escape. I struggled against his grip. "Let me go!" "Enough," luca snapped. Tears streamed down my face. "Please! I don't want to go with you!" He tightened his hold on me. "You're lucky you won't be dying tonight," he said grimly. "So I'd suggest you keep quiet and stop fighting before Adrian changes his mind." The words struck me silent. I stared at Adrian's back. He never turned around. Luca began dragging me toward the doors. I stumbled after him, my gaze drifting to the crowd until they fell on one particular person. Kimberly. She stood at the far end of the room, her eyes wide with fear. Despite everything breaking apart around me, I managed a small smile. Kimberly's eyes filled with tears. Before Luca could pull me through the doors, another voice rang out across the ballroom. "Let her go." Luca stopped. The grip on my arm tightened. I looked up, my breath hitched. Cole stood in our path. His expression was furious. His eyes locked onto me before shifting to Adrian's back. "You can't take her," he said, his voice hard.
