Murder was something the police would handle; it wasn't Alex Qi's concern. He could simply live his life. However, the victims all shared a striking characteristic: they were all emaciated after death, their bodies completely drained of blood before death. Yet, there wasn't a single wound on their bodies.
The victims were all, without exception, young adults, between 18 and 25 years old. They came from all walks of life, but were all in excellent physical condition. The area encompasses the Los Angeles area and the urban areas of three neighboring counties: Chase County, Huangzhong County, and Huangyuan County.
Currently, some citizens believe a s******c serial killer is committing the crimes, others say it's the work of legendary zombies, and still others claim it's a harbinger of the 2012 apocalypse.
However, Alex Qi suspects that it's most likely someone from another vampire clan searching for him. Unable to find him, they're causing trouble to force him to come to them. As an arbitrator, Alex Qi has a responsibility to confront them and an obligation to maintain social stability, whether in vampire or human society.
In fact, Alex Qi started paying attention the day he saw the reports, but a week has passed with no clues. The crimes are completely unpredictable, at least to Alex Qi at the moment.
Last night, the victim's location was the closest to Alex Qi's of all the previous incidents. Alex Qi sensed a strong energy fluctuation and immediately rushed there. However, upon arriving at the scene, he discovered that the police, who were supposedly only there afterward, had arrived before him.
"This won't do. I have to find a way to track them down. Bloodsucking is addictive. This guy probably lured me in at first, but now it's hard to say," Alex Qi thought to himself, gently placing the newspaper on his desk.
Closing his eyes, Alex Qi began to consider a solution. He slowly sank his mind into the depths of his consciousness, searching for spells left by Cain, looking for any suitable for the current situation. Finally, a spell caught Alex Qi's attention.
"Source of Mana: Based on the traces of mana left by the caster, it records the caster's mana characteristics and casting state, locking onto the caster when they cast the spell again. The accuracy of the lock depends on the amount of mana traces collected.
"Looks like this is the spell. So tonight I'll have to go find the place where the police keep the victim's body and check it! Since the victim's body has no wounds, it's clearly been drained of blood by a spell." Alex Qi quickly reviewed his newly discovered spell and made a decision. He glanced at Jet and Lyn, still sitting calmly on the sofa, their composure unwavering. They really were indifferent to his situation.
Since he was going to act tonight, he decided to use the remaining time to familiarize himself with the "Source of Mana" spell and replenish his own energy. Who knew what unexpected things might happen when he went to find those corpses?
At 12:15 AM, at the Qinghai Provincial People's Hospital, two figures flashed through the main gate, catching the guard's eye for a second. The guard glanced inside; there were still a few figures on the main road, seemingly nothing unusual. He shook his head and went back into the guardhouse.
"This is the place with the heaviest death energy. Shall we go in and take a look?" Alex Qi said, looking at a small, two-story detached building ahead. "Or, should I send you two into the Divine Realm? That way, I'll be a much smaller target when I infiltrate alone."
Before Alex Qi could finish speaking, Lyn darted into the building, and Jet followed closely behind. "These two, sigh," Alex Qi sighed, and quickly followed. After all, it was a funeral home, and as a vampire, who knew what dangers lay inside?
Alex Qi walked unimpeded into the room where the corpses were kept. All the locks and locks on the doors were useless to the two guys ahead of him, especially Lyn, who seemed particularly enthusiastic about it.
Looking at the thirteen corpses lined up before him, Alex Qi felt a chill run down his spine. It seemed the police and the hospital had kept these bodies in separate enclosures. Each of the thirteen corpses faintly emitted a peculiar dark energy, some stronger than others.
"It seems the blood was indeed absorbed using a secret method. The corpses with lighter energy are clearly the ones that were harmed earlier, while those with denser energy are the more recent victims," Alex Qi explained casually, his hands forming a complex hand seal. He then gave a soft "Withdraw," and a faint black mist rose from his hands. Following this, wisps of black mist also emerged from the thirteen corpses, converging in Alex Qi's hand and ultimately forming a black aura that continuously coiled and swirled around his thumb.
Alex Qi looked at the black aura swirling on his thumb and said calmly, "Looks like the Source of Magic was successfully cast. Now we just wait for that guy to commit another crime, and then we can keep chasing him. Let's go."
As soon as Alex Qi finished speaking, Lyn jumped onto Alex Qi's shoulder. Jet, however, stepped out of the room in one stride, and Alex Qi followed. Tonight's mission had gone relatively smoothly; staying here any longer was pointless. He hadn't expected it to be so easy.
Shortly after Alex Qi and his group left the room, two smartly dressed women entered. It seemed the thirteen corpses were far from at peace tonight; one group had left, and another had arrived almost immediately.
Both women were very beautiful, but the one with the oval face had a cold expression. Combined with her slightly tall stature and long, snow-white hair, she was the epitome of ice, sending chills down one's spine just by looking at her. After entering the room, she merely surveyed it without uttering a word.
The other woman who entered with them was the complete opposite in temperament. She had a round face, a kind smile, two dimples, and short, fiery red hair, giving off a warm and welcoming feeling.
