Chapter 9

MAGDALENE’S POV I felt like a princess with the way June, April, and July were treating me. “Let me know whoever gazes at you too much, I’d gouge their eyes out if possible” June pleaded before leaving for the gym. Everyone was in awe; first, it was the Gammas that suddenly appeared at school out of nowhere, and I was caught between the three men. “Is she their family?” “Look at how they’re worshipping her” “I’m so envious of her” From visiting the academic office, HOD office, and several other offices needed to solidify my admission, April didn’t leave my side, drawing unnecessary attention. July was quite the most popular month, flowers after flowers landing on his table. I soon l felt outdated seeing how beautiful the girls swimming around him were. “Do you want me to stop anyone from coming to our table?” he asked when he noticed the discomfort. Eyes shot me arrows when he said this. “No, you don’t have to worry” I waved my hand and got up. Hanging around with him wasn’t any fun either. “I’ll be having my first class soon, so I should go and hang around” “But…” I slipped away before he’d try to stop me, or the distracted April notice anything. “The Gamma’s girl?” “What did they see in a boring girl like her?” “I trust Gamma August would never look at her” The girls from my own department hate me I guess. I pretended like I didn’t hear anything, took one of the seats while waiting for the lecture. What I desperately needed right now was peace and arguing or talking to anyone wouldn’t guarantee me that. “Let’s start class” The professor arrived at last. I felt happy, at last, something to get busy with. ••••• Midway through the class, someone rushed in like thunder. “Clawdeen Moon?” the professor called making me look up from what I was busy calculating. The sophisticated girl didn’t look intimidated for a second, she instead rolled her eyes. “I forgot today is geometry first class I’m sorry.” Someone beside me tried to laugh but quickly suppressed himself. I wondered why. “You have been in this school for three years now, repeating the same course because of your failure and you forgot today is the first class?” She said nothing but walked away with pride. Something about her told me the kind of person she could be. No one dared to laugh even though what the professor said was funny. Her style of walking, dressing, and the look of fear on everyone… ‘Let’s not interfere with her, Marg’ I told myself and faced my calculations. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse, someone stopped beside me and dumped her bag on my note. “Hey, are you…” I was about to scold whoever it was but my voice trailed off. “Clawdeen?” She didn’t acknowledge me; instead, she pushed me aside and took her seat beside me. My skin crawled in fear. Why would she sit beside me? The class continued but she had successfully stolen my concentration from the class. “I heard Gamma August rejected an Omega last week” She began, more like she was talking to herself than me but I knew it was me at the mention of August. I stopped writing, not turning as she continued. “The same unfortunate Omega appeared in school with his brothers today…” My heart began to thump. Is she trying to bully me right now? “… Coming here just now I saw the beating of a student who accidentally shared the videos online…” Clawdeen stopped. I wasn’t looking at her, but I could feel the intensity of her gaze on my skin. This is trouble. Everyone has been gossiping about me since I arrived but no one dared to say it to my face. She was looking for my trouble no doubt. “Professor…” She raised her voice and stood up. I gently looked up, why was she calling the professor when she wasn’t even concentrating on the class in the first place? “I would love to invite the new students to introduce themselves.” She looked at me with a predatory gaze. “Clawdeen! We’re in the middle of the class, this is no time for an introduction” She stepped out. “I am the class president for mass communication students. I need to know the new student’s name at least.” All eyes fell on me, everyone knew who the new student was…. But she… “You are right we should do that I didn’t even know her name” The professor agreed. He looked at me. “Can you stand up and introduce yourself to the whole class?” My plan to stay unnoticed failed successfully. Damn it! This class was packed with over 80 students if I must say how do I stand up and talk… “The professor is talking to you,” Clawdeen geered. ‘Calm down, Marg’ I heaved a long sigh and slowly rose to my feet. “Hi everyone, I’m Magdalene Wolfe, a new student” No one clapped. As if they knew my name already. I felt humiliated, yet I composed myself and smiled. “I hope we can be friends” “Welcome to Rave Pack University,” The professor greeted with a smile. “Now you can have your seat” “Thank you sir” I attempted to sit down, but Clawdeen stopped me. “Not so soon, professor. Magdalene, which pack are you from, who are your parents?” Fear exploded in my chest. Did she know anything? “That’s enough now, Clawdeen. You can continue after the class” Subconsciously I desperately wished the class didn’t end just a few minutes after I sat down, but the bell rang. I hurriedly packed my things so I’d leave after the professor but Clawdeen planned herself too. “Where are you off to, Wolfe?” I froze in my spot. “What can I do for you Clawdeen?” “What can you do for me?” She laughed. “You should explain the kind of shenanigan stunt you pulled this morning, don’t you think?” My hands shook, but I balled my fists. I don’t want to get into anybody’s black book especially a bully. Smiling, I shrugged. “I work at the Alpha’s mansion as a maid. So I beg to join their ride this morning” Everyone gasped. “She’s just their maid?” “No wonder Gamma August rejected her” “I know! They look too good for a b***h like this” I stayed steady with my expression. If they believe I was a maid they will gradually forget about me. ‘This is for the best, Marg. I can’t risk being bullied. I don’t want to even experience it’ Clawdeen looked disappointed. I guess this wasn’t what she wanted to hear. Someone stepped forward. “My dad is a beta, and he comes to the alpha’s mansion almost every week. I heard the Alpha took in a new wife and she has a daughter, do you know about that?” My throat went dry. Only if the new I was the alpha’s stepdaughter and the Gamma’s stepsister. “Why are you quiet, Wolfe? Did you not know that too?” I blinked tentatively. “N..No. I know her. She rarely steps out of her room…” “… Did you see her and the Gammas together? What’s her name?” Clawdeen became more curious. Now I know it. She was after the Gammas, not really me. Good, I told her I was a maid. Boldness to continue stuck me, and I chuckled, lies flowing out of my lips like prayer. “She’s really very beautiful. Currently, the Alpha and her mom are on honeymoon, and since then she has locked herself up in the room only calling us whenever she needs food and wants to get anything done. And you know the Gammas are very busy, I never saw them with her” Clawdeen smiled, pleased by my reply. “You will be very useful for me, don’t you think?” “What!?” She grabbed my jaw, her terrifying eyes boring into mine as she spoke. “Get me her name, and secretly snap her picture for me…” “W…Why?” She heaved a long sigh, leaving my jaw, his eyes distant. “April’s loose mouth exposed that he loved his stepsister. I want to see who the daring b***h that dared to steal their heart was” Fuck! I have to spy on myself? “But what if I refuse?” I was surprised that my voice came out this small. Clawdeen looked at me, almost very deadly. “Then drop out of here” “W…Why?” “Because I’ll be your worst nightmare!”
