My Mate or My Pack?

POV - Kaleb

My lil mate is something special alright. Shes been fighting The Change for over an hour just to get the approval from her parents to make sure that her pack will be saved. I honestly don’t know the details of the situation but surely my dad will help. Alpha Alex and my dad were best friends and still are right?

It’s been nearly an hour comforting and calming lil one outside the pack house for her to get back inside. She’s still hot to the touch and flustered and I’m thinking millions of ways to make an excuse for her to tell our parents. I know I should tell the Alpha and Luna but obviously it’s against lil one’s wishes.

I wrapped my arm around lil one’s waist and walked her back inside the pack house. Her body’s heat started to radiate around her, I don’t know how she’s fighting it but I’m impressed. Walking in the dinning room with my arm still around her waist and holding her hand with my free hand, suddenly I got pushed and pinned against the wall as I heard a threatening growl. I quickly looked up with a growl in defiance.

“Hey! Get off of me!” I growled and glared at the man who’s pinned me to the wall

It was James

“What were you doing to my sister!” He growled back, bearing his teeth

“Nothing!” I argued back

“Please! Stop! Let him go!” I heard lil one’s voice plead behind James. I looked over James shoulder and saw two other men holding her back, practically shielding her from me.

“Let her go!” I harshly growled and pushed James off me. Quickly striding over with my fists closed to the two men who has my mate, punching

them both in the jaw. Satisfied when I heard them cracking by my hand.

“What’s going on here!” A thunderous growl shook the room, making all of us pause in our stance.

It’s was Alpha Alex.

Him and his Luna, along with my dad was standing on the doorway of the dinning room. Alpha Alex looked murderous as my dad looked pissed, the Lunas expression was terrified and disappointed.

We f****d up big time.

Feeling a sudden yank by my collar, pulling me away from the two men who had my mate. It was my dad, pulling me away from the situation. I didn’t miss the sound of grunts from James and the two men as Alpha Alex was pulling them away to the other side of the room. Glancing at my mate, I saw the Luna hugging her, trying to comfort her from what happened.

“Alice” I whispered, looking at her with pleading and concerning eyes “I’m sorry” I mouthed to her

Sparing me a glance, my mate looks at me with tears in her eyes. She quickly pulled away from her mother’s arms and ran straight in to mine. I held her tightly and protectively, kissing her head and whispering soft nothingness in her hair. I felt her trample and dig her face more into my chest

Three low growls sadly interrupted us as I looked up and saw James and the two men standing on the other side of the room, instantly I gently pushed lil one behind me as I growled back.

“Enough!” My dad and Alpha Alex growled together

“What’s the meaning of this?” My dad shot at the three young men, including me

“This is not how we behave!” Scolded Alpha Alex

James and the two men looked angry and annoyed, showing their teeth. If they want to fight me then a fight they’re going to get

“What gives this stranger the right to touch our sister!” One of the men with a man bun argued, his chest puffing in and out for each deep breath he took. He looked like he was going to snap in any given moment

“Who the hell is he? Who does he think he is? What gives him the right to come into another pack and take our sister!” The other man said with the rugged hair. Mincing the same motions as the other guy but he looked ever so slightly calmer than the other.

They look like twins, now I have a better look at them actually.

James grunted and looks at his father “father, why is Kaleb touching Alice?” Well at least he remembers me, but his glare and vicious stance tells me that he’ll attack me to defend his beloved sister

“Shut it!” Shouted Alpha Alex “Alpha Kaleb is Alice’s mate! You boys would’ve known that if you showed up on time!” His voiced boomed

The three guys looked stunned and shocked and slowly turns to face me and my mate. Making me hold her closer to me. Are they not going to accept our mate bond? To be honest I don’t care and I’ll fight them if I have to. I glared at them, challenging them to stop me from claiming their sister as mine.

“Lil pup? Is that true?” The twins said in unison as they tipped their heads to the side. Reminded me of a horror scene.

Lil pup? What’s with the nickname?

I felt movement behind me as Alice poked her head out from my side. I looked down at her and held her close. I could feel her burning up more and more by the minute. Damnit I need to get her out of here or she’ll shift in the dinning room.

Alice looked at her brothers with tears in her eyes, holding onto my suit like a life support. Nodding her head merely and her lips trembled as she spoke “please…don’t hurt my mate…please” she began crying and fell onto her knees. She’s passed out. I caught her in time as I gasped, I didn’t expect her to collapse but again I don’t blame her.

Her brothers and our parents quickly came to my side as I cradled her in my arms.

“What’s happening to her? What did you do?” James glared at me

“I didn’t do anything! She’s going through something!” I glared back

“She’s burning up!” One of the twins said as he held his hand against her forehead

“Let’s take her to bed” the other said as he held onto his twins shoulder.

The brothers nodded and started to move before I could react but the Luna quickly stopped them

“No!” Luna shouted. Stopping her sons by holding onto their shoulders, stopping them from standing. Her wide blue eyes starring at her daughter, limp in my arms

“I believe she’s going through The Change. We must take her outside right away” she explained and kneeled down to her daughter “ I recognise the signs from you boys, flustered all over, radiating heat. How long has she’s been like this?” She asked me

I looked down at my mate, shivering in my arms “maybe 2 to 3 hours by now” I mumbled as I gently moved her hair out of her face.

“Shes been delaying it for that long? Why?” She asked again

“I’m not too sure but she mentioned something about wanting to save her pack” I answered

Suddenly Alice screamed in pain, a high pitched deathly scream as her limbs started to shake and twist in unnatural ways. The Change is starting and it’s happening now.

“We gotta get her outside now! Let’s move!” My dad ordered, standing behind me. Quickly, I picked her up and ran out the front door hearing many and heavy footsteps behind me.

“Where to?” I asked, urgently

“This way!” James replied and lead the way deep into the forest.

Hang in there lil one.

Lil one started to sweat and groan and cry out as her body was cracking and started to form into her wolf.

“We are not gonna make it!” I shouted and hauled to a stop, placing my mate down on the ground and kneeled beside her.

Everyone kept their distance and watched in worry. It was uncommon and unusual for a wolf to delay The Change for this long and we honestly don’t know if Alice would be okay afterwards.

I stayed close enough to show my presence was near as I stayed by her side and watched as her body and soul took her. Many screams and cry’s spilled out of her mouth as her body was trying to shift.

“What’s taking so long?” Asked one of the twins

“She’s delayed it for so long, The Change will be longer now. We can only pray to the goddess that she’ll take mercy on Alice” Alpha Alex answered as he held his Luna close, comforting her.

The brothers stood worried and unsure of what to do, as my dad stood behind me and watched over with wary eyes.

My chest tightened as I felt useless right now “come on lil one. You can do this” I whispered and brushed her now mattered and wet hair from her sweat through my fingers.

I just hope this doesn’t take long because of her loyalty to her pack.
