POV Alice

My head was pounding from all of this information. What am I suppose to do? How can I defend off a dark witch? Why me? How can I succeed while I’m still trapped in this place? So many questions running through my mind and not enough answers to satisfy them all. From my understanding I’m now a blessed wolf and supposedly need to fend off this dark witch who’s blind with vengeance from what happened to her twenty to thirty years ago?

I stared at the Moon Goddess and Cassie for what felt like an entirety. Just trying to process of all this…mess. I’m just a child, trying to get through my Change and figure things out with my new found mate. Not all this stuff! I finally blinked and look at both of the ladies in front of me “I think…I need some time to process all of this” I chuckled nervously as I stood up and started to pace around. “I didn’t ask for this. I just wanted to protect the Blue Moon pack, my pack and hope for a good future” I stated

Cassie stood up as well, having her hands closed in front of her “ that’s the thing though Alice, the Red Rivers pack is yours to protect now. My son, Kaleb is future alpha to the pack and with you by his side that makes you his luna. Why try to protect one pack, trying to show a good presentation to another alpha to help your pack when you can take the role to protect and help both?” She asked confidently.

I stopped pacing. Her words hit me deep, I didn’t want to reject Kaleb and for some reason it didn’t occur to me that I’ll be his luna when he takes over the title. I’ve been to caught up in my present problems that I didn’t have a clear head to join the dots together that’ll show me what my future holds. I felt like a clueless i***t. Whilst internally hitting myself in my gut, I faced them both and sighed deeply “alright, I understand now. I vow that this dark witch will not do any harm and I’ll put a stop to her. But if I fail…” I trailed off, my fists closed in tight beside me. I felt frustrated that this is happening to me but I will not fail for a second time. “I’ll do everything in my power to make it right!” I shouted proudly. Making up my mind that if this is what the Moon Goddess has it in for me and if Cassie believes I can do this then I won’t fail them. I can’t fail.

The Moon Goddess smiled proudly as she finally stands “Matilda isn’t ready yet so you have time my child. I do not know when exactly but soon as I hear anything I’ll send you a message” she assured me. “I apologise for putting this on you but I wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t think you’ll do it but now you must go back” she said again.

I bowed my head in respect of the Moon Goddess and saw Cassie quickly came and hugged me close “please…please look after my mate and my son. Oh how I missed them dearly” she started to sob as she held me close. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her in closer “I’ll let them know and I promise to watch over them like you have all these years Cassie” I assured her and felt tears down my cheeks.

Everything around me started to melt away and the darkness returned. Cassie was no longer in my arms and I felt myself falling into nothingness, I couldn’t see or feel anything for a moment as I heard desperate howls echo in the background. With a second later I felt like I was back but different. I felt tired, scared, restless but also stronger and an overwhelming amount of worry and fear. Why was I so scared? Wait this feels different. It feels like my wolf’s emotions. Why was Sliver so scared?

I opened my eyes and saw that I was in a forest, back in my pack lands. I was running strangely though. Like I was on all fours. Am I in my wolf form?

“Sliver?” I called out in question “what’s going on?”

I felt what I believed my body stopped so harshly that I lost my footing and rolled along the forest floor and slammed into a tree as I heard a yelp, followed by a whimper. Ow! That hurt!

“Alice?! Is that you? Where did you go? How did you go? We finished our Change and I couldn’t feel you with me and I panicked” Sliver answered, soundly relieved

“I’m sorry! I don’t know what happened but I’ll explain everything. I promise” I assured her

I felt her calm down and was happy to have me back and to be honest I was glad to have her back too. After a moment, I felt Sliver move over to a near by lake. Wait this lake is 10 miles away from the pack house. How long has she been running? I could see everything sliver sees through her eyes. It felt weird but also natural. I looked through her eyes and saw our reflection, we were a stunning wolf. Our fur was dirty blonde, same colour as my hair but slightly darker. We weren’t small but not as big as an alpha wolf either. My wolf’s name has lived up to its reputation as her eyes were a silverish dark grey colour but still pretty. I kept admiring ourself until I heard fast steps around me in the distance. I shot my head up and saw a huge jet black wolf with dark hazel eyes came from the tree line. Before I could tell if it was a friend or an enemy, the black wolf quickly changed back into its human form. That’s when his scent hits me like a title wave.

It was Kaleb but he looked injured as some blood was slowly dripping from his shoulder. I whined when I saw it. What happened to him? He just looked at me with sadness and worry. He kept his hands in view like he was surrendering.

“Yeah that was my fault” Sliver chuckled nervously

“You bit him?!” I shouted

“Hey! We Changed and you weren’t there! So of course I freaked!” She argued

“We are so talking about this later” I stated

“Fine. You can take the reins then” she replied.

Before I could respond, I felt her push herself back to my mind and I was pushed forward. It made me stumble and fall on to my two front legs as I whined and shook my head. I heard Kalebs footsteps and kneeled in front of me

“Easy lil one, easy now” he whispered as his hand moved slowly to my side and gently pets the front of my neck with his other “I know you’re scared but you need to calm down” he said softly, trying to keep me calm

I looked into his eyes and saw his brows knitted together for a moment, like he saw something usual.

“Your eyes are different. Alice? Is that you?” He asked

I just nodded my head and laid down fully, leaning my weight against him.

He flipped his legs around and sat in front of me and he kept petting my fur gently “what happened? You did The Change and went berserk on me then ran off. I’ve been following you for hours” he said with desperation for answers

I just whined with sad eyes and lowered my head onto his lap as I felt the soothing sparks from his touch. There’s a lot to catch up on and yet I just wanted to stay in this moment with him now. I nuzzled my nose into his chest and licked his shoulder, instantly regretting it as I tasted the iron from his blood from his wound. I shook my head in disgust from the taste then sniffed around his shoulder and couldn’t smell anymore fresh blood from his wound.

“I’m healing fine lil one, it was a little deep but nothing too serious. And don’t be sorry about it, I knew you’ll freak out soonest I saw you woke up” he whispered and kissed my nose softly “now are you going to tell me what happened?” He asked

I stood up and circled around him. Dragging my tail along his chest and shoulders then nudged him to shift. I wished I could mindlink him and tell him to shift. I wanted to enjoy my first shift with him then I’ll tell him everything, about his mom, about the dark witch, everything. I just wanted him to shift and shift now.

Kaleb held his chest as he bent over and looked like his was struggling “what’s going-..” his voiced strained before he quickly shifted into his big black wolf and stood up fully on all fours. He looked at me curiously as his head tilted to the side in question.

Oh s**t…I made him shift on command!
