POV Alice It’s so dark. It felt cold as ice being here. I looked around saw nothing but endless darkness. Where am I? I tried to move my legs but I couldn’t move. My legs were stuck in place like a rooted tree. Why can’t I move? “H-hello?!” I called out as I spin my head around, in hope that someone or something will answer. “Kaleb?” I called out again, in hopes that he’s somewhere here with me. I don’t remember much before I somehow appeared in this dark, deathly place. It felt forever until I heard something. “Alice Blackstone. I’m glad you came” a warm lady’s voice echoed around me. A bright white light appeared in the distance as it glowed brighter and brighter, the darkness around me started to morph into this spring like forest setting, rays of sunlight shining through the tree tops, a lake was near us with crystal clear water as I can see the pebbles and stones at the bottom. I could hear faint sounds of the forest and the waters of the lake. Whatever spell was on my legs was broken as I stumbled forward and moved my legs to catch myself. With a gasp I caught myself and stood up tall as I looked around, taking in this now beautiful place as my eyes adjusted to the sudden bright colours. I took in this strange but peaceful place as I felt a presence behind me. Slowly turning around and saw this lady with raven hair fully down with a pearled clipped up on the side of her head, hazel eyes, plumped lips and a gorgeous bone structure. I could tell she was in her late twenties to early thirties by the slight wrinkles on her face. The lady was wearing a white, flowing robe and no shoes. I swear she looks somewhat like Kaleb. “Hello Alice, I’m glad I can meet you” the lady spoke I stepped back, bringing my guard up as I nodded “I would say the same thing if I knew where I was. Is this part of The Change? I don’t remember anyone mentioning this part to me at all” I commented The lady giggled with her hand to her mouth and turns to her side “I like her, I think Kaleb would love her. What do you think?” she said to the open space. Wait Kaleb? How does she know Kaleb? Another woman stepped out from behind a large tree. My eyes were still sore from the bright colours but this woman, I swear was glowing. Her sliver endless hair that stopped to the ground behind her, wearing a sliver and night shade blue robe with pink blossom flower petals detailing around her shoulders and runs down to the bottom of her robe. Her eyes look up at me and her eyes were a stunning red colour that held so much warmth and beauty. I was right about the glowing. She had a soft white glow around her. The woman walked up to me and the first lady but it looked like she was floating. The woman stopped next to the first lady and smiled “I knew I made the right choice” she chuckled softly but it didn’t feel like an insult. “Okay…someone better explain to me what’s going on. Who are you two? Where am I? How did I get here? Where is my mate? And what am I doing here? And why do you look somewhat like my mate?” I asked quickly, completely frustrated and totally confused. Both woman side eyed each other and gave each other a knowing smile. “Well I’ll go first, my name is Cassie. I’m Kalebs mother. I sadly passed away years ago from a rouge wolf but that’s a story from another time” she said softly as she smiled brightly. She seemed a bit too happy for a dead person in my personal opinion. I just nodded and turned to the other woman. She was looking at Cassie as she spoke then she looks back at me “I’m surprised you haven’t figured it out yet.” She joked lightly “I’m Selene, the moon goddess and I have brought you here upon request of Cassie here and also to tell you how dare you hold back The Change, do you know how dangerous that is?!” She spoke softly as she was talking to a friend but quickly changed her tone to scold me like a toddler. I quickly lowered my head and nodded slightly “I’m sorry. I didn’t know. My Change came in the most inconvenient time. My parents had a visiting alpha whom can help my pack and I just knew-“ I stopped talking as I felt my mouth covered by a hand. It was Cassie. “Oh we know why you did it. But now you’ve damaged your wolf and I’m afraid that’ll cause problems for you in the near future” Cassie said as she moved her hand away from my mouth and moved it to my shoulder. For someone who isn’t living, she was warm to the touch. It felt welcoming and safe. Selene chuckled as she stepped forward again. Looking at me with her ruby eyes as she explained “Alice, I can see everything that my children do. I know why you did what you did and I admire you of that but I cannot let this pass as you hurt your wolf, Sliver” I instantly dropped to my knees and bowed like a peasant “I’m so sorry. Please forgive me. I’ll do anything. I didn’t mean to hurt my wolf. I promise I won’t do it again” I pleaded like I’m begging for scraps of food. I didn’t mean to hurt my wolf, but I couldn’t let my pack down. If Alpha Russel was able to help my pack then I had to make a good impression to him. If I could take it all back, now knowing that I’ve hurt my own wolf I will. I should’ve ditched the whole dinner and gone through what the moon goddess wanted me to right there and then. I heard Selene sigh deeply and kneeled down in front of me “ I can’t express this enough but I’ll forgive you, I know how you feel right now and I can see the deep regret you have over your own actions. Like I said I admire your loyalty to your pack and wanting to help others before yourself but my dear, you can’t help but others if you cannot help yourself” she expressed kindly this time. Her words stroke a chord in me. How could I be so foolish? Now I’ll have to live with this for the rest of my life. What if Kaleb doesn’t want me anymore, now that I’ve damaged my wolf? I started to tear up as I sat up properly and looked up at Selene. “I’m sorry, please…don’t let my wolf pay for my foolish actions” I sobbed Cassie kneeled down as well and gave me a side hug, rubbing her hand along my arm. “It’ll be okay Alice” she whispered sweetly, like she was talking to a child. Who am I kidding, I am a child and done a childish thing. Selene smiled encouragingly and held my hand as she put her other hand on my head. Her touch was warm and kind as her red eyes shined bright. She muttered some words I couldn’t hear properly nor understand then she let me go. She smiled at me “I forgive you Alice BlackStone. Sliver will be just fine, I blessed her and gave her strength” she said Cassie’s face filled with joy and hugged me again “congrats my dear” she pulled back and looked at me with concern in her eyes “but be warned, no one shall know that you’re a blessed wolf, not even Kaleb” she explained It felt a bucket of ice was thrown onto me. “Why can’t Kaleb know?” I asked, looking at both of them. Cassie sighed and dropped her hands from my shoulders “because blessed wolves are hunted and posed as a threat to Alphas, being blessed means you can command other beings at will, including from other packs. Of course you can choose to use it or not but still it’s a secret that needs to keep hidden” she looks at Selene “maybe you should wipe her memory about being blessed” she suggested Selene looks at Cassie and shook her head no “no it’ll be more dangerous that way. Plus you have to warn her about Matilda, the black witch” she explained. Leaving me so confused. Who is Matilda? “I’m sorry…who? I promise to keep being blessed a secret…including keeping it from Kaleb…but what is this witch you speak of?” I asked worriedly. Wolves and witches don’t mix at all. Both species are like oil and water. So different and both have no much anger for each other. Witches are known to work and be with vampires, a wolf worst enemy. Selene sighed heavily as Cassie rolled her shoulders back, like she was trying to build up courage to even speak. “Matilda is a dark witch. She hates wolves and especially my mates family line. My mates grandfather wiped out her coven and left her on the streets, because the coven moved on to the edge of pack and he didn’t like it at all” she explained then look a deep breath “he felt threatened especially when the pack was succeeding as it was back then. He felt threatened and paranoid by it so he was the one who attacked first but obviously the witches defended themselves and lost. The massive battle only lasted for a few hours and the wolves won but without the promise of vengeance from Matilda when she was young. She’s been MIA for years but her threat still holds promise. I have to warn you Alice, you cannot let this witch return and have her vengeance” Cassie warned me as she looked at me seriously.
