My Mate or My Pack?

I was forced to come to this trip but my dad wouldn’t tell me why we are going to the Blue Moon Pack, they’re so isolated and far away from society itself. I haven’t heard anything bad about them, other than being located in the middle of nowhere. They’re warriors were strong and know their stuff, they’re a good size of pack, carrying around 300-400 pack members which is the average but way less than my own pack, carrying roughly 13 to 14 thousand members. The Red Rivers pack. Hence why my pack is the biggest on the northern hemisphere. Owning land has been a little trouble but we’ve expended to other packs or unclaimed lands that surrounded our private lands. By having many small businesses and three or four bigger companies, we make do of what we can. I’m rather proud of my pack.

I also know that, that’s Alpha to be James pack. Him and I went to Alpha school together, trained together, we became good friends back then but we lost contact after graduation. I got busy I guess and so did he.

My dad has been quiet most of the trip and it’s driving me insane. It’s only him and I on this trip, he left his beta, Thomas and my beta to be Ryker, back home to keep things running afloat while we are gone. Other than a couple of warriors, it was dad and I. And yet dad has barely spoken a word.

“Dad seriously?! Tell me what’s going on? I’ve been doing everything you’ve asked of me on this trip. And you gave me nothing but a destination that’s on the other side of the country!” I asked my dad once again.

I’ve listened to him and obeyed, go for a 3 hour car ride done, go on a plane for 4 hours done, now currently in yet another car for another 2 hours! I knew the Blue Moon pack was isolated but holy s**t!

My dad chuckled at my whining, he knew I can’t stand long periods of time, being kept in close sized spaces and my legs for itching for proper movement. My knee was bouncing up and down for the open space.

I’m a big guy. Standing at 6’7, strong build but a lean structure. So don’t blame me for not liking small spaces.

After my dad was done chuckling at my whining like a lil pup he finally answered “alright fine I’ll tell you” he started as he turned to his side and looked at me with a serious but kind expression “we’re going to the Blue Moon pack because it’s been so long since I last saw Alpha Alex, I’ve been so caught up in my own life, I’ve forgotten all about my best friend. I’m afraid him and his family are in danger” he explained.

My eyes widen at his answer. Danger? What kind of danger are we talking about? And dad only brought a handful of warriors. If we were going there to help, surely we would’ve brought at least a dozen more.

I hummed in response, not really sure how to answer him, without insulting him.

I sighed eventually and looked out the window of the moving car. “Okay, I understand” I kept quiet for the rest of the ride there.

We finally arrived! Finally I can get out this car! My dad got out first and I followed right behind. I wanted to stretch out and kiss the ground in thanks for offering me this lovely open space! Of course I did no such thing.

I kept quiet whilst having a mutual look on my face, a habit I do when it’s business needed to be done. We were greeted with Alpha Alex and his Luna Krystal at the front porch. They looked happy to see us and were expecting us. Dad and I walked up to them and briefly greeted each other. But to my surprise, Alpha Alex and dad hugged each other. Okay that was out of the blue.

To be honest I’m surprised that I couldn’t see James or the rest of his siblings outside with the Alpha and Luna. I remembered James mentioning his siblings but I honestly forgot the details.

Alpha Alex gestured for us to come inside. We followed them inside and stood at the base of the stair case. Okay? I looked at Alpha Alex as he was about to speak.

“I hope you had a safe and pleasant travels” he said, his voice was kind and friendly.

My dad nodded while I chuckled.

All eyes on me suddenly. Damnit

“I don’t really like small spaces but other than that, the travel was pleasant and relaxing” I said as I rubbed the back of my neck, a bit embarrassed of my answer.

Both the Alpha and Luna chuckled as Alpha Alex held his Luna close by her waist. Yep, fated mates for sure.

Small talk kept rolling on then suddenly, Alpha Alex called out for his pups.

No one answered nor came down the stairs.

The Luna looked a little worried and excused herself to go on and check on them. How many children do they have again?

Only short minutes past then the Luna came down the stairs again “I guess the boys are still at training” she said, rolling her eyes in a humorous expression.

I chuckled then suddenly I caught onto this mouthwatering, amazing scent. It smelt like the Lilly flowers with the vanilla bean. Strange combination but smelt wonderful. I stumbled back in shock of how much the scent caught me off guard. My head thundered in pulsing waves as my wolf, Max drove himself nuts in my head. Howling with lust and begging to come out. I held him back but I felt him resting so close to the front of my mind. I held my stance, trying not to show this weird sensation I have.

“Are you okay Alpha Kaleb?” Asked Alpha Alex

I nodded “yes I’m fine” I assured him

That’s when I heard steps coming down the stairs, weirdly I pushed my hair back, only to do nothing but to come back in front of my face, just above my eyes. I straightened my suit. For some reason ready as the wonderful scent got stronger and stronger towards me.

“MATE MATE MATE!” Max howled in my head.

What? My mate is here!?

I see this lovely young girl, all dressed up in a stunning dress and her dirty blonde hair followed behind her. Oh my goddess. Internally my mouth dropped. She was breathtaking but she looked all flushed? What’s happened? I couldn’t do or say anything but stare at her as her father greeted her. She respectfully bowed her head and greeted my dad first. Max was jealous of that. I looked up and down and saw that she was holding her father’s hand. Again jealousy picked up. I held it together until I heard her giggled then I snapped.

Letting out a deep growl, telling everyone off about touching what’s mine! And then quickly realising that wasn’t the right thing to do as I scared her. Damnit!

Quickly changing my demur to soft and friendly, I asked if she’s okay.

“H-h-h…..I…I…I..” she stuttered. Honestly it was the cutest thing I ever heard.

Max was purring at her stuttering.

I stepped closer, wanting to touch her but rather not yet hence I was the one who scared her. “Are you okay lil one?” I asked her once again.

She looked up at me with her hazel eyes and softly smiled. For some reason it calmed me and made me feel like I have butterflies in my stomach. With a gentle smile, I guided her to a sitting room and to take a seat. I heard the Luna mentioning something about how our fathers and herself will be upstairs if needed. To be honest I ignored the Luna and kept looking at my mate.

“I’m okay” a small voice came from beside me.

I turned to her and held her hand. Instantly feeling the pleasurable sparks that everyone talks about. “I’m sorry for scaring you, I lost control for a second there” I said kindly

She smiled again at me but her face paled slightly as she shifted in her seat. “It’s alright, don’t have to worry about me Alpha Kaleb” she whispered softly

My eyes widen “it’s Kaleb…please” I didn’t want her to answer me as Alpha, I’m her mate am I not?

She looked down and fiddled with the herm of her dress “alright…Kaleb” she mumbled but I didn’t miss her saying my name. Music to my ears

Suddenly she let out a slight whine and she felt very hot. Her hand was sweaty in mine, her ears and nose was red and her face started to sweat. What’s happening? Is she going to heat? But we just met!
