Chapter 3 Trouble Maker

1019 Words
Finn approached, his footsteps sounding heavy on the wooden floor that crunched with age. He stared at Ruby intently. Ruby shivered even more, fear gripping her tightly. Finn touched Ruby's lower lip with his thumb and stroked it gently. Ruby's body shook even more. The chattering of her teeth was audible. Her entire body was cold and shaking. When he brushed Ruby's lips, Finn touched her chin and rubbed it gently. "There are traces of blood on your lips and chin. Clean yourself up and rest. It's just beginning." Finn pierced Ruby's eyes with his intense gaze. There was silence for a few seconds—an eerie silence. Finn turned and stepped away from Ruby. As he touched the doorknob, he turned and said, "Clean yourself up, Ruby. I'll get you some clean clothes." Ruby remained silent and motionless in her previous position, curled up on the wooden bed in the corner of the room. Finn stared at her for a moment and then closed the door. Ruby relaxed her frozen body. She tried to tame the fear that filled every drop of blood in her body. She cupped her hands over her face and cried loudly. She felt sorry for herself. She thought a thousand times. What had she done wrong? What did she ever do wrong to get this bad karma? Why did life put her in this such a terrible situation? A million times, Ruby realized that she had done nothing wrong. She dedicated her life to helping others, helping babies and children who couldn't explain their pain. Ruby cried even more bitterly. She had done nothing wrong. If reincarnation existed, what had she done wrong in her previous life? She was lost and did not know what to believe. She didn't know what time it was because there was no clock in her room. She could only tell the time by the sun's rising and setting. Every second that passed was very difficult. Fear always filled the recesses of her heart. Fear often invaded his emotions, while restlessness mixed with every breath of air in his lungs. They fed and watered her. Occasionally they came to look at her, casting disgusted glances all over her body. Ruby got up and screamed, kicking the mattress, then banging on chairs and tables. Ruby let out all the emotions suffocating her. Her anger exploded. The room instantly felt like a significant earthquake had just hit it. The legs of the table were facing up in front of the door. The chair was on the bed, and the mattress was on the floor. The squeak of the door stopped Ruby's blind diatribe. Finn was shocked to see what Ruby was doing. His face was suddenly red with anger. He had to push the door harder to get rid of the table in his way. Finn entered with big and fast steps. He tugged at Ruby's arm, making her grimace in pain as she nearly lost her patience. "What are you doing?!" Finn shouted. "I'm just trying to keep my sanity because it's good for me!" Ruby said sarcastically. She tried to get all her emotions out. The more she kept quiet and bottled up her feelings, the worse it was for her mental state. "I should have let them do what they wanted!" Finn threw Ruby's body to the ground. She fell to the ground. "You should be taught a lesson!" Finn swore. Many angry, scorching words came out of his mouth. Then he picked up a chair, which landed directly on the bed. "Sit down!" he ordered. Ruby didn't move. She was still sitting on the floor. Finn pulled Ruby's arm and sat her down in the chair he had picked up. The woman was helpless, forced to do Finn's bidding. As for Finn, he opened some drawers, apparently looking for something. Unfortunately, he didn't find what he was looking for. Finn picked up a sheet that was lying on the floor. He wrapped it around Ruby's body and tied her to a chair. He left the room. Moments later, he returned with black tape and scissors. He tied Ruby's body to the chair, and she could no longer resist what Finn was doing to her. She surrendered as he covered her mouth and wrapped duct tape around her wrists. Finn picked up the things scattered on the floor. He cleaned up the mess she had made. "You are ungrateful. I save you from them, and you give me a mess!" Finn put the mattress on the floor and got back on the bed. Ruby watched Finn's every move. He looked handsome with his jet-black hair, the contours of his face firm. His lips looked attractive as he continued to ramble on about Ruby's attitude, and his arms looked sturdy as he lifted the table and put it back down. "Listen, Ruby! Be well prepared! Is that so hard to understand?" Finn turned his eyes where Ruby had been watching him. "What?" asked Finn when he saw Ruby staring at him too intently. Ruby looked away. She was embarrassed because she had been red-handed looking at him. He approached Ruby and removed the tape covering her mouth. "Aww," Ruby moaned as the gag pulled hard on each of the fine hairs around her lips. "Listen to me, Ruby, don't do this again!" Finn repeated, and Ruby nodded slowly. Their eyes met. She lowered her face. A strange feeling crept into her chest when she was so close to Finn. Finn tugged at Ruby's chin and moved his face forward. Their lips were just inches apart. "You shouldn't be here. That's too bad." Finn looked deep into Ruby's ocean-blue eyes. He chuckled regretfully. Ruby swallowed; suddenly, her throat felt dry. She stared intently at Finn's green irises, causing her heartbeat to change rapidly. Finn untied the sheet wrapped around Ruby's body and placed it back on the bed. Then he used scissors to remove the tape around Ruby's wrists. "Get some rest. We don't want you to get sick while you're here." Finn walked Ruby out of the room.
