I didn't hear a word from Jovita since then. Why was I even angry with her when I am also involved in it, should I just call her and talk to her ? I thought silently. I decided to give her a call after much thought
"grrrrrrrrrrr"the phone kept ringing but there was no answer🤷🏼♀️ I called her 3 times but still no response "well, I tried"
Five months Later
I was smartly dressed in my white long sleeve and black skirt ready for college. I never prayed before I embarked on any journey but I just decided to say a word of prayer. I believed in prayers but never took them seriously "Father, guide me through this journey and protect me from evil'' that said and done I rushed to the park boarded a bus to Benin. The journey took us almost four hours before i finally arrived at my destination.
The university was quite a big one anyone would easily get lost.I went through a lot of processes before I finally got to rest in my room which I rented some months back.
I was staying off campus and alone because I felt it was more comfortable than staying in a room with 4 to 5 people.
I took my bath, unpacked my bags and prepared a meal combination of jollof rice and beans. Finally i got the chance to rest. I yawned as I felt dizzy already but then I thought of Kola and wondered why he hasn't called me since that clubhouse incident
I picked up my phone and dialed the number but then an annoying voice followed "the number u have dialed does not exist, please check the number and try again" (this woman nor dey rest self, be like say I go sack am from work)😅😅😅😅
I shoved my phone aside and slept off.
10:00am the next morning
"My God, how did I sleep so deep, oh no!" it won't be nice to go late on my first day🤦🏼♀️I quickly picked out a yellow off shoulder top and a white trouser then scurried off to the bathroom. I didn't really have time to eat so I left on an empty stomach which turned out to be bad for me. 😩
Luckily for me, I arrived before the lecturer😪 Everyone seemed to mind their business which I didn't expect (normally as you enter everybody go turn look you like say them wan chop you) Well I took a seat at the middle row and middle column. In no short time, a young man in his 40's walked into the hall and everywhere became silent. He had a strict look on his face and had a nice look. "Good day class,am uncle Alex ur new accounting teacher"He introduced himself. The class didn't seem pleased looks like he was a newbie in the school.He started lecturing us but did more on explanation "hey, hey, new girl" I heard a tiny whisper from my back I turned around to take a look and It was a girl with brown eyes and fair coloured skin she looked pretty to me though "hi" I just waved a little "did you write anything down, I found it hard to catch up" she said "oh..yes I did, here you can use mine" She gave me a smile😊 thanked me and went to her seat which was opposite mine on my right. After lectures I was heading home when my phone rang....
I looked at the screen and it turned out to be Kola "hello, how have you been?" he asked with a calm voice "very well, thank you" " How's school treating you?Guess you must be tired" he said as if he could see right through "fine I guess,thanks for asking" that was when I remembered I never told him I had gotten admission how does he know am in college when I never mentioned it to him) "I'll leave you to go home and rest then, be good" he said and hung up LIKE SERIOUSLY this guy is strange. I heard someone run towards me with speed and then felt a light tap on my shoulder bringing me out of my thoughts, it was the girl I met in class
"oh hi" " I came to return your book, I saw you heading this way and tried calling out but seems like you were lost in thought, luckily for me you received a call" she said smiling again (why this girl like smile self) I collected the book with a faint smile "I am sorry about that, by the way I'm Bella and you?" "Nice to meet you,I am Sofia"
Bla bla bla we exchanged numbers and went up to jovita's name on my screen I just sighed and switched off my phone.
I tried reading the big and heavy economics textbook but after trying hard to study the first page I gave up.
I later got to know that Sofia was a year older than me, intelligent and she lived in Lagos. Her parents were not too rich but they had money (now what do I call those set of people 🤔)She was also from a strong Christian home and attends the school fellowship which I didn't want to join because of personal reasons. Turns out she was the kind of person I needed at that point in life.
I grew fond of her and we did things together sometimes she visits me either with the purpose to study the bible or read her books because her hostel was quite a noisy place with three roommates which are all girls who didn't seem to be serious with their studies.
"Bella,why don't you want to join the fellowship na,it's very good oh" she brought up the discussion again
" I will join ooo you know it's not all place your spirit will carry you to sha"I laughed over it and we soon forgot about the matter. We heard a knock on the door and Sofia went to check who it was cause I wasn't expecting anyone " uhmm, bella someone wants to see you" I wondered who that person might be . I was shocked to see the person standing in front of me
