Chapter Thirteen: Flip Sides
Tom, back on the plane, was squeezed against the window with Bai Han on his right in the aisle seat. He didn’t like the fact Melissa had been in Struan’s company for so long. He was well aware of the charm and persuasion his cousin could wield. With nothing he could do about it, he could only trust in Melissa and her judgement, and hope everything turned out for the best.
He wanted this all to be over; he wanted everything to be nice and normal. For the first time in Tom’s life, the thought of a married settled life appealed most to him. There was no denying from the outset Melissa was the one for him—the only one. Without her, he didn’t even want to contemplate his future. It would be empty – devoid of meaning and joy.
