The discovery

"Veronica would you relax?" Her mother called out to her from her wheelchair. Veronica ignored her and continued pacing the room, chewing her fingers, not minding how she would ruin her perfect manicure. She did this a lot when she was extremely anxious and nervous. "Veronica, a bunch of flowers don't mean anything really, Much less a threat. That only happens in the movies." "Could be a secret admirer, you know you're a pretty girl." Her mother blabbered on. Veronica hastily sat at the edge of the bed in her room. "This is Billy. I'm sure of it, he's back. What am I gonna do? And I know he's just going to torture me psychologically before really doing anything. That's just like him. " Veronica ranted. "You are paranoid princess. If Billy is really back, what was holding him back all these while hmm?" Veronica looked up thoughtfully, then her face fell. "It must be he has heard about my divorce. Being with Alex gave me protection, even from people like him. Now I'm all alone, he wants to get back at me." It made sense to them. "So what do we do?" Her mother rolled her chair forward. Veronica sighed. "Would you relax? Stop placing this much pressure on me. I already have so much to deal with!" Dominique said through gritted teeth. She walked to the sink, to wash the vegetables. She was preparing dinner. Mr Guzmán sighed frustradedly. "You can't hide me away forever Dom." He said. "And I don't plan to okay?" She snapped. He sighed again. "So what's the plan?" Dominique shrugged. He came closer to her and took her hands. She relaxed. "Dominique it's been over a week already! I'm her father whom you kept away for 23 years. Now you have a second chance, you have no right to take that away from Christine. Invite me to dinner." She snapped her hands away, stunned. "First of all, what exactly do you think qualifies you for that title? "Father?" You just open your mouth and utter words. Secondly, I'm not denying her anything, after all, it was you who rejected her before she had even finished forming in my womb. Now you want to be her father? When I already did everything myself? I'm her father okay? I've always been so, now I want you to get lost!" Dominique was yelling and crying. "Dominique.. I'm.." "I said get out! And I don't f*****g want to see your face till I want to!!" She increased her voice still. Mr Guzman left. Dominique flung everything down and sobbed from her heart. Life had not been fair to her. _______________________________________________ "Lucas! You have to see this!" Nadia said with urgency as she peeped into Lucas's office quickly. Lucas jumped from his chair and followed suit. "What is it?" He whispered as he crouched over behind her at her desk staring intently into her computer screen. She smiled. "You know the background information we pulled on Kevin Hoover? I decided to do a thorough read through on his file and all that. So I found out the researcher missed some vital information which kinda looked suspicious, so I did a little digging myself and found this; Kevin Hoover is Kevin Jones!" She had a huge smile of pride on her face as she gestured. Lucas looked lost. "And?" She turned around sharply, her face barely inches away from his but she was too pissed and disappointed to notice. "Jones! Doesn't ring a bell? Come on Lucas! KJ? The mysterious business partner of Mr Changeretta? That turned out to be his right hand?" Nadia was almost yelling. Lucas's eyes widened as he gaped in utter shock. "No way" he whispered. "Yes way!" "Wait how's that possible? If he was here, then Mr Changeretta is truly out of business?" Lucas furrowed his brows in confusion. "I don't think so. I believe he might have been waiting for some kind of contact from him or something! But this is huge!" Nadia reasoned. "It is indeed and I need to have a chat with Mr Cooper and Alex." Lucas stated absentmindedly. "Would that be a problem? Should I come along?" Nadia suggested. "No. I need you to inform the captain and find the person who was in charge of the research, they have some explaining to do." Lucas stated before leaving. "Hey." Alex said softly as he approached Christine. "Hey." She replied as she continued wiping one of tables clean. "Can we talk for a second?" "Sure." She smiled unenthusiastically. They both walked away to the locker room. Christine turned around to face him. "Well, i know how much honesty means to you. I know it means a lot, so I'm trying to do that right now." He started. "Trying? You find it hard to be honest.?" Her voice was low. He chuckled. "I know you filed charges and I have absolutely no against that but Laura wasn't actually expecting you to, so she left. And I know how to get to her but i just thought you'd like to know and of course you should know." Christine was staring at him. "What do you mean she left?" She asked. "It's really nothing to worry about. I'll get to her." He reassured her. She looked away. She was trying to give a valid reaction. But her heart was busy misbehaving. She was getting embarrassed thinking Alex could hear it from how loud it was. "Christine say something." His voice was gentle, soothing. What she didn't know was Alex was experiencing the exact same things. He'd been having wild imaginations and fantasies about her and now he was really worried that somehow Christine could see through to them. She looked up, their eyes met. He moved closer, she held her breath. Alex noticed the flex in her neck muscles. "Say something" he said moving closer more confidently. He tucked a little of her hair behind her ear and pulled her onto him by her waist. She let out a breath. "Alex" she whispered. "Mhmmm?" His voice was very cocky. "I don't kn..." She slurred. "Shhh." He shushed. He bent down closer, his breath fanned on her nose gently. She closed her eyes. Finally their lips met. She didn't resist even though she wanted to. She found herself kissing him back. She slid her hands into his hair as she moaned into his mouth. She really wanted it to feel wrong but it didn't. She told herself she should stop, it wasn't right. But her heart felt otherwise. And this time she actually felt the butterflies bubbling and jollying in her belly. She relaxed her tense shoulders. She was loosing breath but instead she moaned into his mouth again because for some reason, she felt absolutely safe and secure.
