TYANA’S POV **** Later that afternoon**** “Tyana, the energy I sense from the humans in this school has such a weak force. I can’t help but be curious as to why Alpha warned us to be careful.” One of my underlings Baltra, states while looking directly at me. “You ask as though I am the Alpha. How the f**k would I know!” I exclaim still in a sour mood because of my little unfortunate encounter this morning. I’m almost 100% sure that guy is not human. What exactly is he? Is he a threat to us? More importantly, who exactly does he think he is? “Tyana, want to go to the forest? The humans say there’s this little bonfire party they are throwing.” Yeri, one of the members of my pack asks with a grin on her face while staring at her phone sceen. “Yeri, it’s either you are completely unaware of your surroundings or just love to play dumb. It’s common knowledge that I don’t attend wolf parties and I dislike humans, so why exactly would I want to go for a human party?” I hissed, anger practically dripping from my tone. The other wolves and Lycans bear their necks to me as I release a small but powerful surge of my aura as a result of my growing anger. “I heard some Blake boy will be attending will be attending the party. Apparently, he’s the most popular and most hated person in the school. They say he’s the supplier of the drinks. This is the perfect opportunity to bring down their leader and make him your minion.” Yeri says with her head still lowered. “Hmm, when you put it like that, I might consider attending” I reply. If I attend this event, there is a chance I might see the guy from earlier and feed in to my curiosity. “This is going to be fun.” ******Flashback***** He just sat there on the Lycan throne made of moon crystal and Cyan Krolium, directly under the skylight that embraced the moon rays which graced his skin and made him glow in a way that makes him seem more powerful and domineering. He looked down at me with his powerful, yet demeaning gaze. “Tyana! It is almost time for you to part with me. Although your day of awakening is not nigh, you are an early bloomer. The humans are weak and less intelligent creatures but, do not make the grave mistake of underestimating them as they are remarkably cunning creatures. I expect only the best from you as you are not allowed to be less than the best.” He says, as if he’s talking to a warrior and not his daughter. The Lycan throne is a huge responsibility usually given to the strongest offspring of the Vulcan Household. Dad however, is rumored not to have been the strongest but usurped the throne. No one, even mom didn’t know how that was possible. On my way back to my chambers, I am stopped by one of the Elders, Grimelda. She is the only female elder of all the twelve elders. Each elder is given status based on strength or accomplishments. However, Grimelda earned her status as an Elder not only because of her strength but because of her seeing abilities. “Tyana, I heard you are almost due for the journey into the human realm. Although I have never been there before, if you are wise you would listen to my warning. Never, and I mean never fall in love or harbor any romantic feelings for any human.” She says in a stern but frantic tone as if she just told me something illegal. She turns around and speedily walks away, leaving me standing in the middle of the hallway deep in thought. She is an oracle of the moon goddess which makes her extremely wise and invincible. She answers only to the Alpha and the Luna. Basically, she has a lot of power and influence so, me not taking her advice would be seen as sheer foolishness. I snap out of my trance and make my way to my room. I have to avoid any more encounters with these elders. Anymore advice, my eardrums might bleed out. ************ “Tyana are you ready? We are about to head out.” Yeri asks as she opens my door dressed in a tight black body-con dress with knee high boots. If it were someone else, I would have said they went all out but Yeri basically dresses like she owns a fashion brand everyday. “No, I plan on going a bit later. Just make sure everything is set for my arrival.” I reply while reaching for my phone. “Ughh seventeen missed calls from max!” I groan as I scroll through my notifications. Who’s Max? Well, nothing much, just the most annoying Lycan to grace this earth. Ever since we learnt what the word Alpha meant, he has been convinced that he was going to be the next Alpha. To achieve that, he regularly dueled with other Lycans in our age group and with the help of his multiple trainers and tutors, he was able to stand out. That however, is not in any way of interest to me. “Babe heard you’re coming to the party. I’ll be waiting for you. Call me when you arrive.” The voice mail played. Great, my mood just turned sour. The only reason I haven’t told him off is the unfortunate fact that since my dad’s ascension to the throne was not through the normal Lycan process, Max’s dad is one of his key supporters who helped him so, my dad can’t move against him. “Did dad really need that throne? Now he’s basically a slave to his supporters!” I shout to myself in frustration. ***************** “Ughh!” I groan as I trudge through the soil in the forest. I’m honestly grateful that it didn’t rain today because it would have been awful right now. “They said it would be here though, why can’t I find it?” I complain to no one in particular as I continue my search for the seemingly exclusive party. As I get deeper into the forest, my nose is hit with a disturbingly familiar scent. I look up to see the very source of the scent. “What is he doing here?” I whisper to myself as I spot the most intriguing yet annoying person I have ever met climbing up a tree in the distance and no, it’s not Max. It’s the kid from the other day. Great, could my night get any worse? He honestly didn’t strike me as someone who would attend such parties. Then again, he’s still a teenager no matter how confusing and audacious he might seem. “Why is he so different from other humans?” I ask myself as I make my way towards the party venue to get a better look at him in order to properly read him. On getting to the tree, I look up in disbelief. “No one?” “What happened to no one?” A deep voice says from behind me. I quickly turn around to see HIS face. “You!” I hiss “Why are you following me?” He asks while leaning on the tree trunk with his arms folded. He looks kind of different today. Maybe because he’s in a wife beater which exposes his muscular build that fits perfectly with his height. He’s way too tall. “Following who? You? Please, don’t kid yourself.” I blurt out in an attempt to salvage what’s left of my self-respect, evidently taken aback by his allegation. He stares at me for a while as if trying to decide whether to continue this conversation or not. “What?! Why are you looking at me like that?” I ask defensively. Why am I being judged by a weak human and why do I have this strong urge to yield? He ignores my question and walks towards me. With every step he takes, his scent gets stronger and stronger till he’s finally a step away from me. His scent envelopes all my senses and all the hairs on my body stand erect. “STRONG! MATE!” Vale my Lycan kept screaming in my head. Mate? Lycans don’t get mates, we choose our mates, I correct her. “NO! I CHOOSE STRONG MALE!” She insists with her tongue sticking out in a love hungry way. I am so glad no one else can see or hear what I’m experiencing right now. I snapped out of my conversation in my head when I noticed he was getting way too close for comfort. “What are you?” he asks as he backs me up on one of the tree trunks. His two hands placed directly beside my head on both sides, blocking my only routes of escape. I could barely even think clearly with his body so close to me. His scent overrode my sense of smell, a mixture of cologne, wet grass and another strong but unfamiliar scent which made my Lycan go crazy. The reddish-orange hue of the bonfire flames decorated his muscular biceps and the right half of his face, casting a shadow on his left side, making it seem as though he was under the setting sun. The dim light and shadows accentuated his features, from the sharpness of his jaw to the green hue of his eyes. His eyes seem like a painting of fire and water wrestling as the reddish- orange colour of the fire attempted to influence the ocean greenness of his eyes. His platinum blonde hair which was a shade so light it was almost white, looked like a remarkable snowy sunset as the orange glow of the fire slightly kissed the crown of his head. He is just as beautiful as a Lycan but he is human. Isn’t he? “What do you mean?” I stutter nervously not because of his proximity, but because Vale keeps painting erotic pictures of him in my mind’s eye. “I mean, you don’t smell like them…” He says moving his head to the direction of the party. “You know what, forget it, you wouldn’t understand.” He says rubbing his palm on his face as if suddenly realizing how strange his actions were. He then turns around and walks off into the forest, leaving me a piping hot mess. “What the f**k Vale!” I pick myself up and finally decide to achieve what I came here for. I turn towards the party and view was just so different, it was remarkable. The party ground was an open field of mostly sand and a few patches of grass with trees at every corner surrounding the field almost as like a natural fence. There were fairy lights of different colours hanging from every tree and all the make shift structures, giving the red-orange glow of the bonfire more variety. There were so many students, not too much but just enough for the place to seem full but not crowded. They were all busy with one thing or another. Either they were dancing to the loud indie music, drinking, making out by the trees or just chatting away. You could literally feel the happy and horny energy emanating from the students. Wait…. does that mean that everyone thought I was making out with that boy when he pinned me to the trees? The sheer thought of it made my whole body burn up with embarrassment. Thankfully, no one noticed how red I was because of the amount of coloured lights. Great. I haven’t even accomplished anything but I look like a walking potato in a halter neck top and black bell bottoms. I make my way towards the make shift bar because I have to meet that Blake boy and make him an ally even though I might not need him. At the bar, I notice Yeri in her black dress. She turns around and her eyes widen with excitement as she spots me. “Tyana? What’s up?” She asks in a slurred tone. She is clearly drunk and is two more cups away from wasted. I take a sit on the log next to her and take her half-full solo cup from her and pour away the contents. “Hey, what gives?” she whines when she finally realizes what I did. “You are literally unstable right now. You don’t need anymore alcohol.” I reply in a matter of fact tone. She gives up and just lays down her head on the make shift wooden bar tabletop. With her head no longer in my line of sight, I catch a glimpse of Max who immediately makes eye contact. “Freaking perfect.” I say mentally face-palming myself. Yeri turns to look at what caused my reaction. “Nope! Not me. Tyana you take care of this yourself. Love you!” she says as she staggers away in an attempt to avoid Max. “Yeri wait! You are too drunk to be wandering off!” I yell in an attempt to lure her back to me. She didn’t even turn back to acknowledge my distress call. I am alone in this. I brace myself for the headache I’m about to face. “Hey babe!” he says in an annoyingly confident tone. “Umm Max, I’m really not in the mood right now. Can’t you find someone else to torture?” I say dismissively as I get up from the log. “What do you mean? You know, I still don’t get why you don’t love me yet. Don’t you think it’s about time you start showing your future husband a little respect?” He asks looking at me with mock disappointment. That’s it. “Husband!? Who gave you that stupid idea. Stay! The hell! Away! From me!” I yell, unknowingly attracting attention from everyone in the area. Max, shocked and embarrassed looks around. “Yeah w…whatever”, he says as he walks away from me. I turn to the bartender and ask about Blake the drink supplier. “Blake left a while ago. I would have given you his contact info but he would kill me if he found out I gave some stranger I met at the bonfire his number, sorry.” The bartender said trying not to sound rude. I guess that was my cue to go home. I do have class next week so, I have to get back to my room and rest up. I have to focus. The thought of class excited me because there was a chance I might meet Him again. “Snap out of it!” I quietly yell to myself. What the hell is wrong with me. I need to find Yeri and leave this place. Maybe a good night’s rest will bring me back to my senses again.
