--- *Chapter 11: The Letter That Changed Everything* The rain hadn’t stopped in two days. Ada sat under the mango tree, the same spot where everything started falling apart 2 years ago. The Bible in her lap was soaked at the edges. In her other hand, she held a letter. No stamp. No return address. Just her name written in shaky handwriting: _Ada_. Her heart was beating too fast. Chike peeked from the door. "Sis... who gave you that?" "I don’t know," Ada whispered. "It was on the gate this morning." She opened it with trembling fingers. > _Ada, > If you’re reading this, it means I’m close. > They told you I left. They told you I didn’t want you. > That was a lie. > I’ve been watching. I’ve been fighting. > And I’m coming home. > Don’t trust anyone. Not even the people smiling at you. > — Dad_ The paper slipped from her hands. For 2 years she carried grief like a stone. For 2 years she grew up too fast, became the parent, became the fighter. And now... _Dad was alive?_ "Chike," her voice broke. "Dad didn’t abandon us." Chike ran to her and hugged her tight. For the first time in forever, Ada didn’t feel alone in the rain. She felt angry. She felt scared. But mostly, she felt something she’d forgotten. Hope. From across the street, a car slowed down. Dark windows. No plates. And on the wall behind them, fresh chalk letters glowed in the wet: *WE ARE WATCHING.* Ada stood up. The girl who cried under this tree was gone. In her place was someone new. Someone with growing pains. Someone ready to fight back. *To be continued...*
