Alice had no idea what she was walking into, but she kept a plastic smile cemented in place on her face. Lauren led them down the short hall and into the living space, which was mostly one big open room, with a kitchen on Alice’s right and a living room on her left. Through the sliding glass doors in the back, there was a deck, and she wondered if it was as magnificent as the one at Trent’s old house. Two long tables had been set up in between the two spaces, and Alice felt like it was a line that had been drawn down the middle.
