“Yeah,” Hunter said with a laugh. “Driving lessons, Cat. So when you and Tony fly in, I can come get you.” “That’s amazing,” she said. “But we don’t need a ride. We’re renting a car.” “Right, because you’re insane and want to drive from here to Southern California.” They laughed together, and Hunter didn’t need her to explain. She and Tony loved the adventure of things, and that didn’t happen on an airplane. It happened in a car, so his sister could see a roadside stand, fall in love with it, and make Tony pull over so she could explore it. “Hunt, I have to tell you something,” Cat said, sobering. Hunter did too, and he looked up from the dishes in the sink. The scene in the backyard warmed his soul, as spring had started to bloom—finally—and he and Westin threw the ball most evenings.
