Chapter 1, Part 6

2524 Words

We knew the name of our bomber/murderer. Wilfred Dunhill killed two people using bombs. His home, searched by homicide detectives, yielded nothing to help us make our case. His name, his location, what he had done, all those things were clear, but we didn’t have enough evidence to prove our knowledge in court. As a cop, it is difficult not to get angry when your knowledge cannot result in charges against a murderer. Frustration, even a little anger, existed among all of us. Will Atherton experienced the frustration more than others because he had been to Dunhill’s home, helped search, found nothing. Will’s frustration didn’t deter him. It fueled his efforts. Will Atherton was something of an internet maven. He used personal computers almost as soon as they were first being manufactured.
