Elros suddenly opened his eyes by stopping the movement of his fingers. He no longer moved, but kept his eyes wide open although they too were totally motionless. The doctor was horrified to see that the teenager's eyes had something different and this thing was not the least, since his right eye had lightened considerably, going from a basic blue to a barely visible blue, almost white, while the other was black, which contrasted perfectly with his complexion that had become as pale as a corpse should have been.
It only took the teenager a few seconds to straighten up in a sitting position, cracking his neck, then the joints of his fingers. His gaze scrutinized in turn the people present near him, all were frightened by what was happening before their eyes, all but one.
The strange man smiled without leaving Elros' eyes, he smiled like a man admiring his child's exploits. Elros could not detect any fear in this man's eyes, no fear either.
"Here you are back among us. ”
Once again, this voice was addressed to him and it was only at that moment that he understood it. The voice he heard so clearly in his head, actually came from this strange character, he was certain of it, he recognized it, he had seen it just before he died.
Dying... Elros was convinced that he had died a few moments earlier, he had been able to see his parents for a while, he had felt the skin of his mother's face under his fingers, he had felt his father's beard in his neck. He was convinced that all this was not just a dream, he had joined them, he had found them. But now he was here again, again far from them and he could not understand why or how.
"It's... it's impossible... it's... this boy is dead... we noticed his death, we confirmed it... he can't... he can't be sitting in front of us..."
Obviously, it could not be a simple reflex. Elros was fully conscious, certainly, he was in total misunderstanding, but he was indeed conscious and well alive.
The man got even closer to the teenager before crouching down.
"They decided to give you a second chance, they chose you, you belong to them. ”
Elros frowned, opened his mouth and wanted to talk, but no sounds came out of the latter.
"Listen to them, don't try to fight, they will make you suffer. ”
Who were they? What did he want to talk about? Why did we choose him? Elros didn't understand anything.
"They changed your nature, you came back stronger. ”
Following this sentence, the boy felt his body burn it on every centimeter. The more the seconds passed, the more the burning sensation became, forcing him to fall back, his fists and jaw clenched.
People were always able to observe a phenomenon just as strange as what they had already seen. The veins of the supposed dead had swollen, making them visible even from afar and, even more surprising, they were dark in color, totally black even. It was at this time that the general panic was intensifying.
"This boy is a demon! ”
Everyone began to express their fear and all set out to flee as quickly as possible. Elros was no longer human, something had taken possession of him, they were convinced of it.
The man was still not moving, he remained very close to the teenager who seemed to suffer like he had never been able to suffer before. The pain was in no way comparable to all those he had experienced before, not even the one that had caused his death a few moments earlier. Elros felt like he was about to die a second time and he was afraid. He was happy to have been able to find his parents, but he was afraid of losing his life again and above all, he did not understand why he had been brought back, if it was to make him leave so quickly afterwards.
"You're not going to die, not yet. It's not pleasant, but we are forced to go through it. You will feel much better after that. ”
It was not the impression that the poor boy had. His whole body had begun to tremble uncontrollably and moans crossed from time to time, the barrier of his lips.
On the side of the crowd, it must be said that the latter was no longer one. Only a few people had had the courage to stay there, to observe the scene that was taking place before their eyes, without daring to make the slightest movement. They didn't know what to think, they didn't know what to do, they were just there.
Elros squeezed and loosened his fists constantly, this was the only gesture he could still freely perform. He knew he was more master of his own body, he was no longer the one who decided.
"Accept this new chance they offer you, stop fighting. Accept the help they offer you or you won't survive. ”
Easier said than done. The boy didn't want to fight, but he couldn't stop his mind from doing it. The unknown scared him, he had not learned to trust anyone or anything. Life had made him constantly remain on his guard, he had to rise alone very early, despite the "presence" of his aunt. He could not help but be wary of everything around him.
Despite the fact that he was resisting in spite of himself, Elros felt his forces leaving him little by little, he felt that he was losing this struggle, he felt that something much stronger than him was taking over.
Quickly, Elros' body was no longer taken by simple tremors, but by violent convulsions. His eyes were revulsed, his moans were more pronounced and white foam began to come out of his mouth. Everything led to the thought that the teenager was losing his life a second time, the suffering of which he was the victim and the scene that was taking place at this very moment left no room for any doubt. However, the man near him did not seem in any way worried, the features of his face were totally relaxed and he had begun to whisper something that he was obviously the only one who could hear.
Minutes passed and the boy lying on the ground did not seem to be better, the white foam had given way to a substance as black as his veins had become always swollen as if they were trying to pass through his skin.
"It's now!"
The man suddenly straightened up, at the same time as Elros' body stopped, letting him breathe a long sigh.
A complete silence took place during what seemed to be one or two minutes, before the teenager's body slowly took off from the ground. A wind coming from nowhere rose suddenly and without warning, the nearest windows burst into a thousand pieces. Panic again took hold of the few people still present and they no longer resisted their desire to flee in turn, they began to run in a last hope of getting out of what was like a nightmare.
Elros stood several meters above the ground when he suddenly opened his eyes again, at the same time as he took a long and deep breath. Strangely, he felt incredibly good, the pain had totally disappeared, he was in excellent shape. Fear had also abandoned him, but another feeling was beginning to invade him. This feeling was none other than hatred. The hatred of having been accused of a crime he had not committed. He felt a deep hatred towards these people who had dared to take his life, without taking the time to listen to him, without taking the time to give importance to his word. He felt hatred towards all those people who had known him since his earliest childhood, and who had not bothered to help him.
Elros went from lying down to standing in the air. His face had nothing to do with the one he wore a few hours before. His features had become hard, anger invaded his look, his pale skin and his eyes of different colors made him frightening. He stood there, observing the world without seeming to see it, his fists so tight that blood escaped from them to come and crash without a noise on the cold ground.
The man was watching the boy, with a smile on his lips again.
"Here you are back for good. ”
But Elros didn't seem to hear it. In reality, he was well awake, but did not yet seem really conscious. He stood there, without moving. The fact of not touching the ground did not seem to worry him, the fact of suddenly coming back to life seemed to have become the last of his worries. The supernatural turning point that seemed to have taken his own life did not seem to disturb him, quite the contrary.
The wind was getting more and more intense, until it was able to fly around Elros, objects of variable size. You could hear in the distance, other windows shattering and cries of surprise sound. Around the young boy, there was only the strange stranger left, he was the only one who did not decide to flee, but to remain proudly by his side.
"Elros. ”
The teenager looked at the man.
"It's time to get revenge now. ”
It was this sentence that made the man smile coldly.
"They have to pay for what they did to you. ”
Elros did not answer, but it was obvious that he agreed. All these people had to pay, they could not get by so easily after stealing the life of an innocent person.
Elegantly slow, Elros found the dry land and the wind died the very moment his feet came into contact with the ground. There was still a while without moving, before finally daring to move forward with a clumsy step, towards the door, followed closely by his elder.
It was no longer raining outside, the good weather suddenly seemed to have returned, the sun was shining with a thousand splinters, its warmth was even already being felt. By setting foot outside, Elros felt like he was breathing again. He couldn't help but take a deep breath by closing his eyes for a few seconds. When he reopened them, he crossed the eyes of a man passing by, completely frightened.
"You... you're supposed to be dead... you... you shouldn't be there... it's impossible..."
Elros smiles again. It was a cold smile, a smile that suggested that nothing good was going to happen. The poor man obviously felt it and he began to stamble, before wanting to flee, however, he did not have time.
The teenager was near him in less than a second and grabbed him by the throat, before lifting him without detaching his eyes from his. Despite the man's attempts to escape, the youngest gave up nothing, even tightening his grip, pushing his fingers into the skin of his victim who begged to be released, in vain.
Elros tilted his head slightly to the side and his smile turned into a grimace again representing hatred and a dry gesture, his fingers pierced the man's skin, making blood gush under them, but also from the mouth of the unfortunate man who was trying somehow to try to say a few words. The only sound he managed to produce looked like gurgling, nothing very understandable. His eyes were wide and his mouth wide open, probably in a vain quest to breathe, the man was drowning in his own blood.
The boy watched his victim empty himself of his blood, without feeling the slightest pain for him. In reality, he even felt a satisfaction to see him in this state. He was not disgusted by all the blood that flowed on his fingers, on the contrary, Elros felt attracted to the latter. He liked this feeling of feeling this warm liquid touching his own skin, he liked this smell... this smell, he had the impression of feeling it more than he should have and this smell aroused a strange interest in him. Without letting go of the now unconscious man, he held out his other hand and plunged his fingers into this red liquid, before bringing it before his eyes. He took the time to observe it, to spread it between his fingers, before finally bringing it to his lips.
He felt a strong sensation invade him when he felt this liquid on his tongue. Something in him pushed him to take more, he had a feeling that looked like hunger. Elros even felt hungry, but he did not want food, he was only interested in this blood and he wanted more than anything to drink it before it became cold.
"Don't resist, you need it. ”
Without being asked, he brought his fingers to his mouth again and closed his eyes while delighting in this nectar.
It didn't take long before he wanted more, much more. Then without warning, he plunged on the lifeless man's neck and went to look for his property, directly at his source.
Elros closed his eyes once again, feeling the liquid running down his throat, totally ignoring the fact that a single drop could have been enough to disgust him before. He had his arms wrapped around the man's palsing body and pressed him tightly against him by satisfying his hunger, or rather, his thirst. He didn't even pay attention to the sounds of the bones that were breaking, so tightly he tightened this body.
It was only when no drop seemed to come to him, that he dropped the corpse without any delicacy. Despite all the blood he had drunk, Elros did not feel full, he wanted even more. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand looking around. It was deserted, not a cat seemed to want to go through it, which was surprising in view of the good weather. He growled and walked away from his very first victim, to go to the place where he had breathed his last breath.
"They made you one of ours, they gave you a second chance, you are much more powerful than them now. ”
Ignoring what he wanted to talk about, Elros made a second growl when he noticed that no one was pointing the tip of his nose. He was dying of thirst, the man was not enough for him, he needed more blood, he needed it on the spot!
He began to cross the square with a quick step, to go in front of a house. He didn't know who it belonged to, he didn't want to know, he wanted only one thing: blood.
It was with incredibly fast breathing and by showing nameless violence, that Elros entered this house. A smile took place on his lips when he heard noise coming from the floor.
A m******e took place in this house, in record time, the bodies of four people were emptied of their blood, without them having had the chance to try to escape. Parents and two of their two children had just lost their lives, their pale bodies rested in strange positions on the ground, several of their bones were broken, but Elros did not feel the slightest sadness. He also no longer felt the irrepressible need for blood, but he still felt this hatred, he felt this desire to take revenge, to cause as much pain as he himself could have felt.
~
Completely out of breath, Elros observed what he had caused alone. Dozens of corpses littered the ground of the village in which he had grown up. Corpses that, for some, had been emptied of their blood. The others were in such a state that it was almost impossible to recognize them. The scene looked like a real butchery, no one had been spared, not even the youngest inhabitants of this village.
He looked at what he had committed, with an absent air, not even bothering to wipe the blood that flowed along his chin, even ignoring the tremors of which his body was the victim. Elros seemed totally disconnected. He was indeed physically present, but his body envelope seemed empty.
"You knew how to do the right thing. You got revenge."
But the teenager did not have this feeling. He did not think he had obtained revenge, he did not think that all these people deserved to die in this way, despite the suffering that had been imposed on him. Totally innocent women and children had in turn paid, of their lives, for a crime they had not committed. It was not fair, Elros was convinced of it. He had not only attached his executioners, but the entire village. He was no longer a survivor. No more heart seemed to struggle to continue beating despite everything.
"They... they are all dead... I killed them all... these women... these children..."
Elros looked down to look at the body of a baby wrapped in a blanket, it was his very last victim, and she must not have been six months old. The little being had suffered the same fate as all the others, without even understanding what was happening to him.
"I am a monster..."
The man approached the teenager, before placing a hand on his shoulder.
"No, you are their creation."
What difference did it make? Probably absolutely none, creation or monster, he was indeed responsible for this butchery that spread before their eyes.
"You will have trouble at the beginning, but you will eventually get used to it. Trust me."
Elros frowned and then walked away from these places that he was now cursing to the highest degree, to take refuge in a kind of impasse, as if he were trying to hide from someone. The man remained on his heels, and when the boy began to sigh while leaning against a concrete wall, the latter did not fail to speak again, to share with him an anecdote that he surely thought was positively interesting for the youngest. But that was not the case. Elros saw red instantly and very quickly felt the anger take hold of him, this was a feeling that he was not used to feeling, he who was so calm by nature.
"You've been following me and talking to me for a while, but I know absolutely nothing about you!! Who are you?! What do you want from me?!! And why do you want to tell me all these things?!!"
The man smiles.
"It is true that I have not yet introduced myself, please excuse me."
Elros did not answer.
"My name is Valaraukar, I tell you all these things to help you, I was sent to meet you for this sole purpose."
Despite the answers provided, the teenager did not understand what this famous Valaraukar was saying, he did not understand the slightest meaning.
"For this sole purpose?! We sent you?! Who are they?!"
"I can only see that you ask yourself a lot of questions and you will get answers, but not now. First we have to leave this place, you need a place where you will be safe. Come with me."
"Why should I agree to trust you and follow you?"
Once again, Valaraukar smiles.
"Because I'm like you. What you are currently experiencing, I experienced a little more than two centuries ago."
Elros first thought he had misheard, but he quickly realized that this was not the case, the words resonated distinctly in his head. This man claimed to have experienced the same thing more than two centuries ago. There was reason to wonder if the teenager was having a terrible nightmare that was gradually losing its meaning, or if he was indeed awake and that he was facing a nightmarish reality.
The young boy's gaze was lost in the void, while Valaraukar's did not leave him.
"You are not alone in this situation, I will be your guide if you agree to follow me."
And although he was tempted not to accept the proposal and to remain in denial, Elros resolved to trust the man who was trying by all means to make himself reassuring for him.
The teenager felt a huge tear when he realized that he had destroyed everything that still connected him to his parents and that he was going away from it in addition to that with very little chance of returning to it one day. After sowing chaos in his village, he fled without knowing what the future had in store for him.
