The detective was an old man with a limp. I doubted him from the moment I laid eyes on him, but Damian was so confident about his expertise.
My heart still managed to beat rapidly in my chest as I thought about Tori and Kylian-wondering if I had made the right choice, if they wouldn't have been safer with me by their side.
