Chapter One

On reaching the groceries store, which was just after the gas station at the end of our neighborhood, I put off my ear piece out of my ears as I began going through the list my mom had given me for the shopping

“Ok”, I said to myself as I walked down the aisle “this would take no time”

On turning on the next row to go get the pasta from its section, “Oh s**t” I quickly withdrew myself to intersecting row I had come out from

‘Damn, what is Matilda doing here’ my mind rang, seeing a new overwhelming crush in the groceries store when not prepared can send one into a frenzy

A minute of encounter…

Ok Max, cool down, she's just a person, just continue your shopping and say hi when she's nearby’ I thought to myself, calming me down

‘A very beautiful person’ the other side of my mind started it's counter, ‘One that you have had a crush since meeting her on school few days after resuming’

Took the reins as I put off the thought out on my head, and took the step back into the aisle where I was to get the pasta

Had to walk past her in order to get to the place where the pasta was kept, on my way there, almost reaching her now, a guy came out with a filled trolley to meet her

“aren't you done” I heard the guy said, “what have you been doing there since, just choose any brand of it and let's be on our way” he said

Seeing his face, I noticed that I have seen him in school before, his Matilda brother

“Hey wassup” I suddenly heard her voice as move past them so i immediately turned in response to face her, her brother who was noticeably taller than her was just staring at me as I looked their way

“passing without saying a 'hi' i see” she said as we were now in full eye view with eachother

‘Wow, she got such beautiful eyes’ my head rang, couldn't really keep it in check now, this was probably the first time I could really see her looking at me, eyes locked in contact

Was in such happy mood to see that she actually noticed me today that the staring look of her brother just faded off my mind

“Oh, so sorry Matilda, didn't see you there ” I replied, obviously lying but didn't want her to think I was snubbing her when I totally wasn't

“yeah yeah, I guess I was being blocked my brother who is so tall that I am lost in sight like you said” Matilda replied, now looking at me a bit annoyed from what I could tell

Her brother already getting impatient with our conversation couldn't stand it any longer 

“so now you get into a discussion, seems we aren't getting home anytime soon” he was obviously displeased by his sister adding to their waiting time in the groceries store

Feeling guilty, and doing something I would never have thought of doing; to cut the conversation short “Yeah, I guess you are busy at the moment, so we would catch up later?”

 I asked as a permission to leave them alone, since I was feeling uncomfortable caught in-between their micro argument, even though I would have loved to even spend the whole day chatting with her

Ignoring my question, she stared at her brother, with the kind of look that could melt a stone without saying a single word

“Ok, whatever, would go pay for the goods at the cashier” he said as he walks out of both of us and went towards the cashier

Right now, I was feeling great, no,no, much more than great, having her attention right now when she mostly just snubs or even don't notice when I was in the room was just so wonderful 

Looking into her eyes right now was so captivating that I could see nothing else in front of me but just her 

She smiled, “Wow, thanks so much for the help” she said, “that must have surely annoyed the hell out of him” she laughed, now seeming like I wasn't in front of her

“Sorry, what?” I asked as I was not in tune to what have just happened or what was going on

“Oh yeah, my brother have been so annoying throughout today, wanted to get back at him” Matilda said in a self absorbed way and then reality dawned on me, sending a gloomy feeling all over me 

“You are in one of my classes, right?, What's your name again” she asked and i felt so stupid “its Max, yeah, math classes” 

Now all I wanted was to leave her sight, was just having one of my best feelings of being recognized by my long time crush but it all turned out to be just a sham in order to get even with her brother

They were among the rich kids who live on the other neighborhood where life was way better, tho we all go to the same public school, and shop at the same community groceries store, but life in each neighborhood was so different in all aspects

She was dressed exactly like her status, shiny clothes that was probably very expensive and other accessories all over her “Ok Max, nice name, thanks again for helping out”

I guess that was my cue, “your welcome” I said as I went off to get my pasta I had came for, trying my possible best to put this humiliating experience I have just had out of my mind

Getting off the groceries store, I thought about heading over to the lab, the garage where I and Isaac works on our complex science project

‘No no, the day is already getting over, and I did not come out with my phone, so there is no way to reach him and check if he was around’

Decided to go straight home, after such sweet painful encounter with my longtime crush this late afternoon, all the energy in my body was gone and what I really needed right now was to get home and lay down on the bed

Cross checked my list to see am not forgetting anything, as there was still some cash remaining from what my mom had given me “ok all good here” and I walked out the giant community groceries store

Walking off to the pathway near the road I could see Matilda and her brother putting the goods they had just bought into trunk of her car

 ‘what a nice car’ my mind went, this is probably the reason she would never notice me I guess, we were of way different status than people like her

Slightly dropping my head down and putting on my earpiece, I went towards the path near the road to trek my way home
