"Are you okay? Stop crying, baby. I'm here, I won't leave you. You're safe now," I said while hugging her tight.
"I'm afraid Ate, don't leave me please," she begged.
"Yes baby, I promise. Whatever it takes I'll protect you," I promised her.
When I'm about to walk away someone holds my feet. Meron pa palang may malay sa kanila. Napatigil ako, paglingon ko, nakatayo na siya at may hawak siyang patalim. May dalawa pang bumangon at tulad ng una may mga hawak din silang patalim. "This is not good," bulong ko sa sarili ko. For the first time, I feel afraid. Tumawa ako ng mapakla, "So, this is what they called fear?" parang baliw na tanong ko sa sarili ko. I'm not afraid for myself but for the kid that I'm holding tightly in my hands right now.
