I worked the rest of my shift and called Jess to swing by and pick me up as my tire on my car was still flat. It didn't take Jess long to get to the bar, "Hey there good looking, you need a ride? Jess joked. "I don't think you can handle me," I giggled. She kissed me on the lips and gave me a huge hug. "My head hurts," I exclaimed. "You should lay down when you get home, sweetie." comforted Jess. After a few minutes, we were at home, I hug Jess and went inside. Having a big headache, I decided to shower instead of taking my daily bubble bath. I turn on the hot water and let it warm up before taking off my clothes and climbing inside. I rinse off my body and lather up to shave my body. "If I'm going on another date with Joey tomorrow, I have to shave," I said to myself. It took a lot of convincing for me to talk myself into it. After washing my hair, and washing off my body, I climbed out of the shower and dried off, and put on my pajamas. Once dressed, I blow-dried my hair and plugged my phone up, and climbed into bed.
It didn't take long to fall asleep. I had been extremely tired from work. Even though it wasn't busy, working at the bar is very energy draining. While I was asleep, my phone went off, it was Joey.
Joey: Hey beautiful, hope you got home from work okay.
*8 minutes later*
Joey: Are you okay? Haven't heard back from you.
Joey: I guess you are busy. I will talk to you tomorrow.
I woke up around noon the next day. "Wow, I slept for a long time!" I exclaimed. I checked my phone, to find all of the messages from last night, and 2 messages this morning from Joey again.
Joey: (8 am) Good morning hun. Hope you slept well.
Joey: (11 am) Did I do something wrong?
I was really bothered by the fact that Joey had texted me so much, and it should have thrown up some red flags but I didn't think too much about it at the time. I just let it go, and sent a text back.
Me: Sorry, I was tired after work last night, and went to sleep after I got out of the shower. You didn't do anything wrong.
Joey: Oh, I'm sorry. I won't text you like that again. Are you still wanting to go out with me today?
Me: Yes, let me call you instead of texting.
"Hello?" grumbled Joey. "Hey, I'm sorry, I just don't like texting all that much. It never has been something I enjoyed. Yes, I still want to see you today. Just let me know when." I exclaimed. "I was thinking about 3 pm, that way it gives you time to wake up and get ready. Don't worry about putting on anything nice. Wear something you feel comfortable in, and wear some shoes that are comfortable in too. I have something special planned for us today, and I think you are going to enjoy it." he said excitedly. "Okay, I will see you then," I said.
I got up and went downstairs to fix my morning coffee, and threw a sausage biscuit in the microwave for breakfast. I didn't feel like getting up and cooking this morning, not to mention, I was unsure of what Joey had planned for the day. After breakfast, I went upstairs and started to get ready. I put on a pair of yoga pants, a tank top, and my tennis shoes. Afterward, went into the bathroom, brushed my teeth, and put my hair up in a bun. I remembered that my tire was still flat, but growing up, I remembered that my dad used to change his tires on his car, and I remembered how he did it. Luckily for me, I already had everything that I needed inside the trunk so I headed downstairs to the car and pulled everything out of the trunk that I needed.
First, the tire jack, then the lung wrench, wheel wedges, and then the extra tire that was hidden underneath the trunk floor. I sat everything down on the ground. A few cars drove by with men in them, and all asked me if I needed a man to do it. But found myself asking myself, "Why do men think that women can't change tires?" Luckily where I live on the ground is nice and flat, so raising the car with the back wouldn't be a big deal. I put the tire wedges in behind the back tires as I slid the car jack under the car in between the two doors. Once the tire was far up enough off the ground, I sat down and used the lug wrench to get all the lugs off, and I pulled the tire off the car and slid the new tire on. I put all the lugs back on, and tightened them, and let the car back down.
Just as I was finishing up, Jess was driving by. She pulled over so that she could talk to me. "Did you do that by yourself? she asked. "Yes, who says I need a man to change a tire for me?" I laughed. "You go, girl. Hey, I have a few errands to do, do you want to ride with me? she asked. "How long do you think it will take? Joey is supposed to be here at 3, he said he was taking me somewhere and had a surprise for me." I grinned. "Uh oh, he's going to ask you to be his girlfriend." she joked. Even though I knew she was joking, I found myself wondering if I would say no. I honestly liked him a lot. "I'm not sure how long it will take, maybe since you are off tomorrow too we can hang tomorrow? I'd like to go to the zoo!" she exclaimed. I could tell she was excited about it. A new zoo had opened up downtown and she had been talking about it for weeks. "For sure, tomorrow it is." I smiled.
After getting back inside, and resting for a little while, Joey called to tell me that he was on his way, to be ready. I had just sat down and now had to head back down. Luckily, it didn't take long, and he was here. He picked me up and put a blindfold over my eyes so that I couldn't see where we were going. It was about a 30-minute trip. We finally had stopped. He came around the car and he opened the door, grabbed me by the hand, and led me over to a railing, he pulled off my blindfold, and there we stood at the bottom of Mount Jynn. I was astonished. I had been talking about how I wanted to go hiking, and here we were. "Are you okay with going hiking? I have a surprise once we reach the top," he asked nicely. "How could I resist?" I joked. We started up the mountain, Joey had a backpack on his back, and I wondered what was inside but I didn't bother to ask him. I figured if he wanted me to know he would tell me.
We stopped twice on the way up the mountain to take a break and get some water, before finally reaching the top. He put the blindfold back over my eyes and led me over to a secluded location, I could hear a waterfall in the distance. As he took off the blindfold, there was a tent, and a picnic table right beside the waterfall. It had a table cloth over it, candles were lit and plates were set up. He grabbed the bag that he had on the back of his back the entire time, and inside he pulled out some food that he made before he came and got me and handed me a to-go plate. "I made spaghetti and meatballs. I hope you like it," he said. "Of course I do." I smiled. As we ate our food, he wanted to know if we could play 20 questions, as we ate our food, for us to get to know each other a little better. I agreed. He asked things like what my favorite food was, what my favorite drink was, what my favorite color, animal, and my all-time favorite candy was. Those were the simple questions, towards the end, he asked about places I wanted to visit, and who my heroes were. He seemed like he was making an effort to know who I was as a person, and that meant a lot to me. We finished up our food, and he cleaned up everything. The two of us walked over to the waterfall, where he said, "How about a swim?" he stripped down completely nude and jumped into the water. "WHAT? What if someone sees us?" I gasped. "They won't, I've rented the top of the mountain until close tonight. I told you, I had a surprise for you," he grinned.
