Chapter Eleven

1059 Words
Today's Thursday morning, I slowly start to wake up although my eyes aren't fully awake. I stretch and rub my hand on the bed beside me. 'Empty?' I thought to myself, I look over, and Jess isn't there. I get up out of the bed, put on my red silky robe and I head downstairs. She was nowhere to be found. I happened to look on the refrigerator door and there was a note from Jess. It read, "Hey beautiful, you looked so peaceful sleeping. I didn't want to wake you. I've gone to grab breakfast, you know I can't cook. Be back soon. xoxo"      I lay on the couch, and turn the television, and started flipping through the channels. "Ooo, Jerry Springer is on." I laughed. "Jerry, Jerry, Jerry!" I yell. About that time, I hear a knock at the door, I open it and it was Joey. The hair on my neck stood up, and I just thought, 'What if Jess shows up?' "Hey beautiful, he said excitedly. "Joey? What a surprise, what are you doing here?' I asked. "I just wanted to come over and surprise my girlfriend," he exclaimed as he brought flowers around from behind his back. "These are for you," he said as he handed the flowers to me. "Oh my gosh, they are gorgeous!" I said. "Please come in. I'm just watching television, waiting on Jess to come by, she's bringing breakfast for her and me. We are supposed to hang out today. I promised her that we would go to the zoo." I added. "Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know. I don't want to intrude on a girl's day with your best friend, you didn't tell me, or I wouldn't come barging over here like an idiot." I could hear the anger in his voice, but I didn't acknowledge it.      "Yeah, she asked the day before yesterday. I didn't think I needed to tell you. I mean, you didn't say you wanted to hang out so I made plans with her." I said. "No, it's okay. You didn't have to tell me, she's your best friend babe, you're allowed to hang out with her," he exclaimed. At first, I didn't catch that sentence, as he said it. "I'm going to head into work. I hope you have fun at the zoo babe," he said, as he gave me a hug and a kiss and walked out the door. Just as he was walking out the door, I thought to myself, 'I'm ALLOWED to hang out with her?' Those words should have thrown up red flags to me, but they never did. I just let it go, and I shouldn't have.      A few moments later, Jess walked in the door. She had coffee, and it smelled Heavenly. "I got you some eggs. Fried just like you like them, runny in the middle with grits, bacon, and toast. Right?" she asked. I shook my head yes, she knew me so well.   *DING*     I look down at my phone in horror. It was him, the man that messaged me when I and Jess did our cam show. He must have got a new number or something. Unknown: You thought you were going to get rid of me huh? Me: Who is this, what do you want? Unknown: It doesn't matter who I am. *Doesn't respond* Unknown: Not much of a talker today, are we? Unknown: I told you that you were going to regret blocking me. Me: Please, just leave me alone. Unknown: Don't block this number, and respond when I message and everything will be fine. Me: And what if I block you anyway? Unknown: Want me to tell Joey about that pretty little blonde girl? Me: No... Unknown: Okay, then. We will be in touch.     Jess could see the horror in my face as I showed her what the unknown person had said. "Who is this creep?" she said in anger. "I'm not sure," I said as my voice broke. "But he knows about us and he's going to tell Joey if I don't do what he tells me to do." I cried. "Just block him, who cares if he tells Joey. For all he knows, we haven't done anything together since that night. "shouted Jess. "I'm going to tell Joey myself tonight after we get home from the zoo. "I exclaimed. "Are you sure you want to tell him, what if he doesn't like it, what if it breaks you two up?" she asks. "He's in love with me, Jess. I don't think he will break up with me, he may get mad at me for it, but I don't think I have to worry about him dumping me. That way, once I tell Joey, I can block this number and get my number changed." I said. "Alright, well are you ready to go to the zoo?" Jess asked.     We walked out the door, locking the apartment behind us, and headed down to my car. I set my GPS to the zoo, and we buckled up and took off. It took about an hour to get to the zoo. During that time, we listened to all kinds of music. Backstreet Boys, Panic at the Disco, Simple Plan, and Pink. It brought back all the memories of growing up. We finally made it to the zoo and made our way up to the kiosk to pay for the tickets. A beautiful woman was at the counter checking tickets. She had bright red hair, green eyes, a large chest, and stunning tattoo work. Jess couldn't help herself but flirt with the young broad. I just stood there, not saying anything. Why should I? It wasn't like we were together. After a few moments, and the line started to get a little long, we had to move along, but unsurprisingly, Jess got her number. "Oh look, we can have someone join us for the cam show." she joked. I just smirked at her. We paid for our tickets and started to walk around the zoo. There were 2 paths. The one to the right, took you to the flamingos, and a tortoise while the one on the left took you back through the zoo, starting with a coyote and a bobcat. We took the right path and started our long journey throughout the zoo.
