Chapter three

-Jade- “Jade!” he heard his mother yelled from downstairs. “Could you come here a bit?” “Sure, mom,” I replied, not taking my eyes off the large screen television. The game was just heating up and I really did not want to get up and possibly go run an errand for my mom. “You have to go” asked Jess when she heard my reply to my mom. “Yes sweetie,” I replied, “but don’t think I’m gonna let you win!” “Watch me,” she said laughing ominously and then immediately shot me. She was so good at this game. She almost always beat me. “Jade!” my mom yelled again. I rushed to her and like I thought, she wanted me to run an errand for her. I loved my mom. She was one of those few people on whom I could depend. She was always there for me and even though we don’t always see eye to eye, I knew she only wanted the best for me. At this time I did not see the person who would ever take precedence over her. I only wish that my father and I had a relationship like what I had with my mother. I did not wish to have another argument with my father. I don’t think I will be able to stay at my house if that happened. I wanted to be around my mother so I tried to stay out of his way. The trip to the supermarket would take me past Jessica’s house. I smiled. It was time for a little fun stop. I rushed to the supermarket. When I was returning, I called Jess. In a few minutes I was at her back gate. I watched as she sashayed down the little path that would take her to me. She was of medium height with skin that was as smooth and dark as mahogany. I loved the way her eyes would light up and her smile would broaden a mile to reveal perfectly straight and white teeth when she saw me. Today she was wearing a washed out jeans shorts that revealed tempting legs, and a cropped top that showed her slightly plump stomach. When she reached me, she threw her arms around me and I was glad that I was leaning against the car. A whiff of roses caught my nose. I really loved the way she smelled. I must have been out of my mind to think of cheating on my Jess. I really needed to pull it together I thought as I brushed aside her braids to look into her beautiful eyes before lowering my lips to hers. I loved the way she kissed me back as if her life depended on it. I ran my hands down her back and down to her derriere. When I squeezed it, she gave a little moan and I could feel myself getting hard. “When are we going to do it?” she hoarsely asked, looking a tiny bit shy. “Soon babe, soon,” I replied. “As soon as you stop beating me at Doom Eternal!” I joked. She laughed and said, “Well, if I let you win, can we do it tomorrow?” I chuckled: “You know I want our first time together to be special so just bear with me, ok?” “How about I take you out tomorrow?” I suggested. “I’ll pick you up at about eight and we can go grab a bite or something.” “That sounds great!” she beamed. “Alright. It’s a date then,” I said. Jess and I had not done it since we started dating. Many of our friends had taken it to third base and home run already, making it seem odd that we had not done it as yet. I think I will have to find a way to find a place where we could make out comfortably and in private. We said our goodbyes as I knew my mom would be wondering where I was. I drove home feeling certain that I would have to put the lust I have for Mrs. Clarke out of my mind.     -Alison- The music was blasting that I could barely carry on a conversation with Francine. She had come to take me out and I was very happy that she had done so. I needed to get out of the apartment and clear my head, enjoy myself a little, take Jade off my mind. Last night’s dream had kept me awake til the wee hours of the morning. Even with the little sleep that I had got, I was feeling really energized.  Francine and I bumped our hips and threw our hands up in the air – really and truly like we did not care - as we danced to the sounds of La Bouche. I was feeling especially sexy in the little blank sequined dress and black strappy sandals that I had chosen for tonight’s outing with Francine. I felt as someone came up behind me. A rather sexy looking tall stranger was indicating that he wanted to dance with me. Francine looked smiled knowingly at me and indicated that she would be sitting at the bar. The stranger could dance. I liked the way he took charge and led us as we danced. He smelled good but not as good as Jade. It was pleasant but it did nothing for me. Nonetheless, I was determined to enjoy myself so I put Jade out of my mind; this stranger was going to get all of my attention. When the song ended, we hugged and he took the opportunity to tell me his name: Steven. I told him mine and he asked for my number but I said no. As I turned around to go join Francine by the bar, I bumped into someone spilling the person’s drink. As I was about to apologize, I immediately knew who it was for a heady familiar scent invaded my nostrils. “Jade!” I exclaimed. “What are you doing here?” “Oh hi Mrs. Clarke!” Jade shouted, trying to raise his voice above the music. “No, I should be asking what you are doing here,” he continued. “I didn’t know you come to places like these.” “Oh yes, I do,” I answered a little self-consciously, realizing that I was dressed in a manner my students would not have been accustomed to. “Sorry about your drink by the way,” I said as I leaned in close and as I did so, I again got a whiff of his personal scent which caused my n*****s to harden without warning. I swallowed hard and tried to look away. “Are you here alone?” he asked as a young woman I recognize as a student of Collins High joined him. “No, I have my dear friend Francine her with me,” I answered, and if on cue, Francine appeared. “I thought you were lost,” Francine said. “No, I was just talking to my student, Jade,” I replied. “Jade, this is my dearest friend Francine. Francine, this is Jade, my student,” I introduced them. Jade and Francine shook hands. “Nice to meet you,” he responded. “Same here,” Francine replied. “This is my girlfriend, Jessica,” Jade introduced the attractive girl who was standing by his side. I immediately felt jealousy course through my body and I smiled awkwardly, acknowledging the introduction. I took Francine’s elbow as we excused ourselves. We walked over to the bar and ordered more drinks. While there, I watched uncomfortably as Jade danced the night away with his girlfriend Jessica. When I could bear it no more, I told Francine that I was tired and ready to go. I didn’t know why I should feel jealous. Jade was a young, handsome man. Why wouldn’t he have a girlfriend for crying out loud? On the ride home, Francine tried to strike up a conversation in her usual cheery way. I tried to match her cheerfulness but I failed miserably. “Ok, what’s the matter?” Francine asked when she realized that I was not paying attention. “I just have a lot on my mind,” I muttered. “Come on Alison,” she answered. “It’s me you’re talking to. You can’t fool me. What’s going on?” I let out the breath I didn’t realize that I was holding. “Ok,” I said. “But you have to keep this to yourself. It’s a secret, a very, very top secret.” “Alright, but I don’t know why you are saying that. You know you can trust me,” Francine said as she pulled into my apartment complex. “Ok, but let us go inside first,” I said. We went inside and changed into our pajamas and got into bed. Francine was spending the night since she had no work in the morning. It was a tradition we had since we had become best buds. I loved having Francine as a friend. She was the most caring person I know to date. She was always looking out for me and others around her. There was not a selfish bone in her body. I loved the way she could make me laugh, even when I did not want to. The best thing about Francine was that I could tell her any and everything and knew that she would not judge me. I could also count on her to support me and stick up for me when needed; however she was not afraid to tell me the truth. “Come on Ms. Lady, spill tha beans,” Francine said as she sat cross-legged on the bed facing me. “What is bothering you?” I took a deep breath. How did I break it to my best friend that I was in love with my student and that I left in a hurry because I was jealous of him? I guess I should just come right out and say it. “So…” I said slowly, “you know that student I introduced you to tonight?” “Yes…” Francine replied slowly, to match my tone. “Well…he’s the mystery guy with whom I have fallen in love and I couldn’t bear to stay at the club any longer and watch him with his girlfriend,” I blurted out and then immediately covered my face, uncertain as to whether or not I wanted to see her reaction. “Alison!” Francine exclaimed. “Are you serious? You can’t be!” “Yes, I am,” I said as I removed my hands from my face. “But you do realize that this cannot and will not go anywhere, right?” “Yes, I know that, but deep down I feel like he belongs with me, Fran,” “Alison, you are 38. How old is Jade?” “18,” I replied. “18. Need I point out the difficulty here, Al? Come on. You have to get him off of your mind. I think you are feeling this way because you are lonely. Oh by the way, I got Steven’s number for you. You should give him a call. He seems pretty decent. That way you can forget you were ever in love with Jade,” Francine said. “But I don’t want to forget,” I whined. “But you have to, Ally,” Francine said as she held my hands and searched my face. “This will only lead to heartbreak and you are barely over your divorce. Plus, the young man already has a girlfriend.” “I know,” I groaned. “And I know we have a huge age gap but I cannot shake this feeling that we belong together, Fran. It’s like I’ve found the one whom my soul loves.” I got up to pace at the foot of the bed. “I love the way he makes me laugh with his silly little jokes. I love his sweet brown eyes. I love the way he cares about others. I love how long his fingers are. I love his brows. I love his nose and how it suits his face. I love the way the hair lies on his skin. Oh Fran, I got it bad.” “Yes, you do,” she laughed. “You should have seen your face as you spoke about him.” “And oh, Fran?” I quickly said. “Just the other day he held my hands and I felt this weird spark, like something passed from his body into mine and Fran, he smells so good. Every time I smell him it’s like it turns me on. Nothing like this had ever happened to me before.” Francine moved towards me and gave me a hug, “Child, you need Jesus,” she laughed. “So where do you go from here?” Fran asked. “I’ll have to sleep on it,” I answered as we got into bed. What will I do indeed, I thought as I turned out the light and snuggled beneath the covers.
