I exited the Moon Temple after another cleansing session, hugging my coat tight, and walked the path back to the palace, the guard who had been assigned to me following me. The weather was just as cold and gloomy as before, but for some reason it bothered me more now.
For some reason? Who was I trying to fool? I knew the reason why my mood had been so blue in the past three days. Because Cade had kissed me as if his life depended solely on my lips, and out of nowhere, he broke it off and left me alone in the cold.
Apparently kissing me was terrible, since I hadn’t seen or heard from him in three days. I had walked around the palace and the gardens all day long, hoping I would bump into him, but soon I learned he wasn’t in the palace at all.
I felt guilty, dirty, disappointed.
