Mahaera smiled at us. “It’s done. Congratulations.”
I held Amber’s hand and tugged her closer to me. My will was to crash into her and kiss her until she was breathless, but I shouldn’t do it in front of so many guests. I pressed my lips to hers, lingering for a moment, sending a promise of what was to come later. Still holding her hand, I turned to our guests. Amber did the same, clearly still not used to the spotlight. We waved and bowed our heads to our guests, who clapped enthusiastically.
