Eunice and John had been dating for the past two years. Their relationship had been very cordial and platonic. They were both undergraduate students of a revered University in Nigeria.
Eunice was a slim and tall woman. She was beautiful and always looked simple in her dressing. She was twenty-five years of age. She came from a humble family.
On the other hand, John was charming. He was a dream of every female student on the Campus. He was a talent in Music. He came from a well-to-do family. In fact, he had one time told Eunice of his father's plan to build a state-of-the-art music studio for him. He was twenty-seven years of age.
But hardly did Eunice know that their relationship would not last. She received the shock of her life when suddenly one evening at a Suya Joint, John said, “Eunice, I love you. I want to play the love game with you before the wedding to know whether you can procreate.”
As a mature woman and because of the genuine love she had for him, she advised him that he should patiently wait till after the wedding because it was against her family background to have a child before and outside wedlock.
“No, I cannot wait. I want to have it tonight with you. It is burning in me now. I cannot control it any longer,” John declared authoritatively.
But, Eunice was not ready to succumb nor was she ready to be controlled by any man's wealth at the detriment of her own future. She pleaded with him with teary eyes, kneeling and sobbing but all to no avail.
Angrily, John left her alone. She was confused. She couldn't believe her eyes. She looked depressed, unable to say a word again. After many days, it dawned on her that she had been rejected completely.
Later on, another tragedy struck when the news about the ill-health of her father was brought to her. This time, all the assets of the family had been sold out to cater for the medical bill of her ailing father. Only their residential building remained which of course the mortgage payment had not been completed. However, the mortgage officials had been serving them a notice of eviction if they failed to pay up.
Now, faced with the depression of rejection from her boyfriend, ill-health of her father, inability to pay for her study and eviction notice, she was left with an option of commiting suicide.
“What is the purpose of existence again? I think the best option left is to leave this planet,” she soliloquized.
She recalled the day John told her, “I have found someone who aligns better with my goals. That person is you and I hope you understand. Please, take care of yourself.”
The break-up was just too unbearable for her. For two years, John had been her dream of a better life and a future filled with love and stability. And now, he was gone.
“As if the breakup was not enough, my father’s health is deteriorating. Diagnosed with an aggressive heart condition he needs surgery. I have done everything but it was not enough. My study is now a no-go area,” she muttered.
That night, depression, despair, failure and heart break filling her mind forced her to leave the hospital. Her legs carried her to a cliff, ready to jump down and kill herself.
“Miss! Stop right there! There is nothing a man is passing through that does not have a solution,” a voice, commanding attention, shouted.
Eunice jerked and looked back only to see a young man clad in navy blue suit with a red tie. He was a tall and handsome young man in his early thirties. He had been watching her all along unnoticed.
“My name is Jonathan Joe. I’m the CEO of Jaon Nigeria Limited. I promise to offer you some help, only you do not need kill yourself. You will be guilty before your creator for commiting suicide,” the young man preached.
As the voice sank into her heart, she slowly stepped down from the cliff.
“You may come to my office tomorrow at 12p.m,” Joe added. Without another word, he returned to his car and sped off.
Eunice had heard about Jaon Nigeria Limited in the past. It was a company that specialized in oil and gas. She had heard about the CEO as intimidating in the area of business.

Jonathan Joe was a billionaire and the CEO of Jaon Nigeria Limited. He was known for being intimidating and professional when in business.
“Tell me what led to your decision to want to commit suicide that night,” Jonathan Joe, the CEO of Jaon Nigeria Limited asked.
“I am faced with my father's ill-health issue, rejection from my dream man and the possibility of dropping out of school,” Eunice responded with tears.
“I will help you but on one condition,” he said.
“Tell me the condition. I want to know,” she said.
“The condition is that I want you to be my girlfriend with no s****l relationship for two years. No touching and at the same time, we will keep some distance away from each other. There is an inheritance I want to claim as the next heir of the family from my grandfather,” he said.
Eunice's heart was divided as to whether to take the offer or not. But the issue of his father's ill-health and having to drop out of school due to lack of funds hit her. She did not know what to say.
“I will think about the offer,” she said.
“But till when?” He asked.
“Tomorrow by evening at 6pm., at Suya Joint,” she said and left
