Beta’s POV Her eyes flashed, dark and sharp. But she didn’t move. “You think you can just walk away from this, Beta? That you can walk away from me? From what you are?” Her voice dropped to a low, threatening growl. “You can’t escape it. No matter how hard you try, you’ll never outrun your blood.” I took another step back, my breath quickening, my chest tight with both fear and anger. “I’ll never be like you,” I said, the words coming out in a hoarse whisper. “I’ll never be a part of this... this darkness you’ve dragged me into.” Martha’s gaze turned icy, a coldness that seeped into my bones. “Then you’re a fool, Beta.
