Sam's POV I walked into the house and set my bag by the door. My aunt didn’t even look up from the television. She never cared anyway. “Sam,” she muttered without turning around. “You’re home.” I didn’t answer. No need. She wasn’t really asking.. I walked to my room and threw myself onto the bed, staring at the ceiling. The events of last night kept running through my mind—Mata, the bite, the strange sensation in my body that I couldn’t shake off. The next morning, I left the house, the silence still hanging in the air. The sun was up, but it felt like the world hadn’t changed. I didn’t feel the usual calm I got from walking through the streets. Instead, everything felt... heavier. As I walked, I spotted Rosaline standing by the corner, looking like she’d been waiting for me. “Sam!”
