Kidnapped

I wake in a cell type room with concrete floors and walls, No bed, just a dirty blanket and pillow. My head hurts, I try to sit up but I immediately start to throw up. I must have a concussion, so I lie back down on the icy floor, soon after I begin to cry. The realization that I have been kidnapped sets in. Someone broke into Kaden’s and kidnapped me. Why? Was I getting too close to solving the case? That has to be why. But why didn’t they kill me? Why keep me alive if they think I know what really happened? I lie there with a thousand questions for my captor, who has not shown his face yet. I wonder if Kaden knows. Surely he will try to find me, Right? Wait, I heard growling! My eyes are now wide open and I felt terrified. Who would bring a dog or whatever that was with them to attack me?

Third person pov

Kaden left while Lexi was in the shower to cool off. All he could think about was her in the shower naked and it was driving his wolf mad. He knew she was his mate as soon as he met her. His wolf almost took her right then. He can’t figure out when will be the best time to show her who he is, and he fears she will reject him for being the monster he is. Kaden is the Alpha of the Black wolf pack. The largest werewolf pack left in the states, although there is another pack that’s close just over the mountain in Cherokee called Dark Moon. Oakland Hays is his Beta, and best friend but lives on the mountain with his family. Werewolves stay hidden mostly from humans because humans tend to scare easily if you can turn into a monster any time you want. Kaden works in the city when his friend was killed against his father’s advice, but ever since Dominic handed his title over to Kaden, advice is all he tries to give out of respect. The pack has close to 700 members some live normal lives working with humans but never letting them know exactly who or should I say what they are? Some live in the mountains where they can be who and what they are without fear. Kaden usually handles everything for the pack. He makes sure they are all taken care of and when trouble threatens he is the biggest, scariest one of them all. He fights to kill and feels no remorse if they have threatened his pack. That’s why when Amy went missing he started a human business and joined the humans to find her killer. She was not wolf, but she had been his friends for a long time and she knew what they all were and accepted them.

Kaden pulls back into the garage after driving around all night tired and finally calmed enough to be around Lexi. The thought alone makes his wolf get excited, but they are both too sleepy to let it go too far. He exits the vehicle and notices a scent, one he doesn’t recognize, his wolf now alert and wide awake as they enter through the door from the garage. The scent got stronger as he opened the door.

"Someone has been inside." His wolf says.

"Yeah, I can see that. Lexi?" He yells, just then he sees that the door in the front has been busted, he walks over to investigate and sees scratches and blood.

"That’s Lexis blood I could smell her from a hundred mile's away." His wolf says.

"Elaina, Nina and Oakland and get to my house he mind links his sisters and Oak, Lexi has been taken."

They all use their wolf forms to get there as fast as they can. Upon arrival Nina recognizes the scent, she stops in fear. She was the only one who thinks she caught a glimpse of the bastard’s scent that killed Amy when they found her body, and this is the same scent. She looks worried and Kaden sees it.

"What he growls."

"It’s him." Is all she can say. Kaden almost hit the floor. Worried and now in almost a full fit of rage, his wolf has to come out. They all watch in amazement.

"This never gets old," Oak says.

Proud to serve the magnificent creature in front of him. His wolf is a huge solid black wolf. He stands just at 8 feet tall when on his hind legs. He doesn’t take s**t from anyone. He walks around slowly, sniffing the floor and door where the bastard came in.

"I have his scent now." He got careless, leaving his scent for the wolf to find. The wolf is what they all call Kaden’s wolf. They say he doesn’t have a soul, so they won’t give him a name. Everybody else wolfs have names, mostly.

He shifts back and they all get their orders. "Wipe her blood on something, take it with you and track her scent. I will be tracking him. Her scent drives my wolf way to insane, and I don’t know if I can keep him under control if he has to track it."

“It would be a cruel punishment the wolf growls to let me chase her then not have my way with her”.

"You would scare her." I say to him.

“No I won’t, she is our mate and she will love me”.

"Yes, she will, eventually, if she isn’t dead."

The thought of what I just said made us all sad.

"Please moon goddess, keep her alive. I am coming, Lexi."

Tracking isn’t easy when it’s a human, their scent leaves the earth much more quickly than a wolf. It’s more fragile, lighter. Having the blood make it doable. Oakland is on the trail but it seems they traveled by car not foot. He tells us all.

"Don’t lose her scent Oak, your life latterly depends on it." I mind link him.

“Oh, come on now boss, you would miss me too much to kill me”.

"Try me."

We are all in wolf form now, tracking the scents. It is taking us east into the Cherokee area. Their leader is old man Gage. Fierce in his day, but not likely to survive much longer due to illness. His son Ellis will take his title soon.

Ellis and I don’t get along, but I can talk with his father. They ask us not to be back on their territory, but I have no choice if my mate is being held there and they will have some explaining to do.

"Kayden, mind link Gage Tell him were on our way and don’t take no for an answer." Nina say’s.

She is the reason I don’t get along with Ellis. Let’s just say he and Nina were mates and he rejected her. I should kill him for that, but the moon goddess gives us that option so I won’t.

"Gage, I am on a scent of an intruder into my home, a girl has been kidnapped and it is leading us east. We will be on your territory in less than five minutes unless it changes direction."

“You are not welcome here but if what you say is true, then I will allow a search. But you better make it a fast one”

"Don’t threaten me old man, I am not in the mood. The girl is my mate!"

The wolf growls and even through mind link I can feel him submit. “Fine, just make it fast and leave”

We go throughout the territory; the scents are everywhere but don’t stop.

"Someone in this pack helped this bastard and I want to know who; Oak."

“Got it, boss”.

Oak questions people from dark moon. Ellis decides he will make an appearance.

"Kaden, get your mutts and go. You have searched everywhere, now you want to question my people."

“Are you saying I can’t”?

"Maybe I am," Ellis says.

The wolf smiles and walks over to Ellis causing his human to be forced to look up.

"I will question whoever the f**k I want. My mate’s scent along with her kidnapper was on your territory."

"Mate?" He says nervously now.

"Fine, ask your questions, but if she were here, we would know."

“I doubt that very seriously, you don’t pay attention to anything but your w***e”, says Nina. Ellis drops his head and walks away at that.

Kaden see’s something out of the corner of his eye that made him growl and every one ran away as he takes off to catch whatever he saw.

"Lisa?" He growls. "What are you doing here? "

Lisa knows what I am, so why is she running away. His alpha voice doesn’t work on her because she is human so he doesn’t even try to use it, he just stops confused. She looked like she had been crying. His wolf doesn’t view her as a threat, but a friend. So he isn’t too worried. She is free to do what she wants.

"s**t! She doesn’t know about Lexi." I run to catch up.

"Lisa!" I say now in human form,

"Its Lexi." She stops in her tracks.

"what’s wrong with Lexi." Lisa is most definitely crying.

"Someone took her."

“Took her where”. She throws her hands in the air, annoyed now.

“I told you not to tell her yet, Kaden. She wasn’t ready to know this about you she probably ran away. Everything isn’t a case you know”.

"I would say you are right, but I didn't tell her and there was a break in at my house and blood."

“Blood”?

"Lexis blood, Lisa. Not much probably just a scratch. Do you have any idea who may have done this. Has there been any threats come into the office?"

“No” she says shaking her head now visibly worried.

"Can you go check to see if any messages have been delivered since last night?"

“Last night! She almost screams at me. You lost her last night? God, men are so stupid she screams. f**k, where did I leave my car. I hate this f*****g place.” She says as she holds her middle finger in the air for all to see as she leaves.

We find nothing on the dark moon territory and decide to go back to the house to look for more clues. We start outside and looking around at everything.

"From what I can tell, someone cut the security just after I left."

“Whoever he was, stood outside the house waiting while smoking a cigarette”.

Oak picks it up, sniffing it.

"Lexi was on the couch," Nina says.

"The blankets still have her scent."

"Elaina? Nothing but these scratches on the door. Look at them. They were made from dull claws. Either the guy is old as hell or he is a rogue and malnourished."

"We don’t have a lot to go on here. We have to find her. Please moon goddess, let me find her safe." I say pacing back and forth trying to keep myself calm enough to focus.
