Chapter 4 Alice's Fightback

1219 Words
"Surely you won't hold this against me, right?" Luna cooed. Alice took a deep breath, struggling to keep her anger in check. The last thing she wanted right now was to cause a scene. If this had been the old Alice, the one with the fiery temper, that maid's head would've been on the floor by now! But instead, she just said coldly, "I think you should take me to change into some clean clothes." Luna replied with a smile, "Of course." With that, she swayed her hips and led Alice down the hall. But as they entered the room, Alice frowned and realized something. It wasn't a dressing room but a narrow storage closet. The door slammed shut behind her with a loud bang, plunging the room into darkness. Alice hurried to open the door, but it was locked! "Hey! Open the door!" Alice shouted, but she could only hear the maids giggling, clearly amused by her panic. "Oh dear, Ms. Dorn, it seems the door accidentally got locked. I'll go fetch the key for you," Luna said in a mocking tone. Her footsteps gradually faded, leaving Alice alone in the silence. Alice pounded on the door, but predictably, no one answered. It was clear those maids intended to leave her in there, and they were probably waiting for her to beg before they'd let her out. Meanwhile, outside, the maids huddled together and observed the door. Their uneasiness grew as the silence inside the room dragged on. "Why isn't she making any noise? Do you think she's not scared?" "Or maybe she fainted from fear?" Their worries deepened, and one of them said with a worried face, "Mr. Garcia is going to be furious when he finds out. And Mr. Thorn, what if he punishes us?" "Don't be ridiculous!" Luna remained calm, elegantly running her fingers over her long nails. "Philip and Raymond won't be back for another three days. We have plenty of time to do what we want." "Like scaring her so badly..." A malicious smile crept across Luna's face and she continued, "that she wouldn't dare tell a soul." "But..." one of the maids hesitated to say, "I've heard Mr. Garcia say that Ms. Dorn used to be quite the spitfire." Luna scoffed, "Oh, really? Well, let's see who is tougher, she or me?" She walked over to the door, gave it a light knock, and called out in a sugary, exaggerated voice, "Ms. Dorn, are you alright in there?" When there was still no response, Luna frowned, starting to worry that this seemingly fragile girl might have actually fainted. She pulled the key from her pocket, ready to open the door and check. But the moment she turned the key, a long, slender leg shot out of the darkness, landing a hard kick squarely in Luna's chest and sending her crashing into the wall. Alice stepped out of the shadows with a few damp strands of hair clinging to her neck. Despite being drenched in sweat, her beauty was undeniable. She squatted down in front of Luna, grabbed her by the hair, and yanked her head up. Her cold, beautiful eyes stared down at Luna while a faint smile played on her lips. "You really think I'm that easy to push around, huh?" asked Alice. Luna winced in pain, struggling violently and spewing curses. "You b***h! How dare you kick me! I'll rip your vicious face to shreds!" Now that Luna couldn't break free, she yelled to the other maids, "What are you idiots waiting for? Get over here and teach this slut a lesson!" The maids snapped out of their daze and rushed forward, trying to pry Alice off Luna. With her backup, Luna regained her confidence. Soon, when she finally broke free, she raised her hand, ready to slap Alice across the face. The next second, Luna's eyes went wide in disbelief as she clutched her stinging cheek. Alice had easily shaken off the maids restraining her and now stood there, casually flexing her wrist, which was sore from the slap. "Damn you! How dare you hit me!" Luna shrieked, losing all composure as she clawed at her hair in a fit of rage. "Does hitting you really take courage?" Alice asked, feigning innocence. The sight of Alice's calm, unruffled demeanor nearly drove Luna mad with anger! Screaming, she lunged at Alice, aiming to tear out her hair. But Alice sidestepped her effortlessly, and with surprising ease, pinned Luna down. Luna, now being dragged back towards the storage room by Alice, began to panic. She shouted while flailing around, "Let me go, you b***h! What are you going to do to me?!" "Let's see how you like the taste of your own medicine," Alice said, her tone almost casual. "It's only fair to return the favor, isn't it?" With that, she kicked Luna into the storage room and slammed the door shut, leaving Luna inside to bang on the door and scream in desperation. Alice turned around, her gaze sweeping over the other maids. The maids were already trembling in fear. They all took a collective step back at the sight of Alice's cool demeanor. Alice dangled the key in front of them. "Anyone wants to try taking the key from me and let her out?" The silence was deafening, and no one dared to speak. "Good," Alice said, her tone polite. "Now, would someone pour me a cup of coffee?" Within moments, one of the maids handed Alice a cup of coffee. The rest stood around, not daring to move a muscle, their eyes wide with fear. Meanwhile, on the other side of town... Philip had just finished helping Raymond wrap up a business deal and was rubbing his temples. He was about to start the car and take Raymond to their next appointment when he suddenly received a call from the estate. On the other end, a maid's terrified voice sobbed through the line. "Mr. Garcia, please come back now! Ms. Dorn has gone crazy! We're all covered in bruises from her beating us—it's terrifying!" "What?!" Philip's eyes widened in shock. Instinctively, he glanced back at Raymond, who was reclining in the backseat with his eyes closed. "Alice?! That's impossible! She's always been reasonable." The maid's voice trembled as she cried, "Who knows what happened? After you left, Ms. Dorn suddenly lost her temper. She started hitting us, and she even locked Luna in the storage room. Luna's crying her eyes out." "Alice did all this?" Raymond's voice cut in, calm but with an edge that made the maid on the phone freeze. She stammered for a moment, clearly not expecting Raymond to be right there. She finally managed to say, "Y-Yes, sir." "How is she now?" "She's sitting on the sofa, sipping coffee like nothing happened! We begged her to let Luna out, but Ms. Dorn said she's going to keep her locked up for three days and nights." Philip fell silent, unsure how to respond. He turned to Raymond, waiting for his reaction. Raymond's face was hidden in the shadows, his expression unreadable. He tapped his fingers lightly against the car window, as if he were amused by what he was hearing, or perhaps lost in thought. "We're heading back right now," Philip finally said.
