Chapter 6 Be Good

1453 Words
All of a sudden, the sound of a vase shattering echoed through the room, startling Alice out of her frozen state. Her fingers trembled, her face drained of color as she stared at the two people inside the room. Raymond noticed Alice standing at the door but made no move to get up. His cold eyes fixed on her, yet his hands didn't stop, causing the woman in his lap to moan even louder. Alice couldn't bear to watch any longer. She turned around and bolted from the room, running back to the bedroom where she buried herself under the covers. She was shaking uncontrollably, her vulnerability now fully exposed. Her heart felt like it was being pounded by a hammer, and she instinctively clutched her chest, the pain so intense that she could hardly breathe. She curled up in a ball, and tears streamed down her face. Suddenly, the door creaked open, and before she could react, the covers were ripped away. Raymond scooped her up, forcing her to face him. Alice couldn't hold it in any longer. She sobbed uncontrollably, shouting with all the venom she could muster, "Get out!!" Raymond remained expressionless. "Well, well, Alice, do you know who you're talking to now?" he asked in a cool tone. "Don't touch me! Don't touch me with those hands that touched other women!" Alice screamed at him. Raymond easily restrained her, his gaze dropping to hers as he let out a scoff. "Does that really bother you?" He leaned in to kiss her, and Alice fought with every ounce of strength she had, even sinking her teeth into his shoulder in desperation. Raymond didn't move but her bite and cry. "Don't humiliate me like this! Don't push me to hate you, Raymond!" "Nothing happened!!What the hell can I even do in five minutes?" he growled in frustration. The drugs coursing through his veins made him restless and agitated. He grabbed Alice's face, forcing her into a rough kiss, his tongue invading her mouth. Raymond's mouth was clean, with no trace of any other woman. But his kiss was fierce, almost suffocating, leaving Alice breathless. He forced her hand to wrap his manhood, and she could feel its heat and hardness. With one hand, she was unable to fully wrap it. The intensity of Raymond's desire filled her with dread. But to her relief, he only wanted her to help him with her hand, not tearing at her clothes in a frenzy. Raymond had been painfully hard for a while now. He'd sensed something was off right after his business meeting that someone had spiked his drink—a bold move no one had dared to make in a long time. He barely managed to hold himself together long enough to deal with Alice and Luna's argument, already close to his breaking point. But Alice fought him hard, refused him to embrace her, and kept wailing uncontrollably, nearly passing out from the intensity of her emotions. Raymond was beyond frustrated with Alice's cold indifference. She was the one who betrayed him, yet she acted like she was the one who'd been swallowing her heartbreak. So, Raymond had Philip bring in someone to stage a scene, just to see if Alice really didn't care about him. If she was truly that heartless, then he wouldn't hold back anymore—he already had a room prepared for her in the basement. 'Alice, just be good,' he murmured in his mind while stroking her hair as he pressed his warm, strong body against hers. The feel of her soft skin against him was so intoxicating that he nearly wanted to devour her right then and there. 'Be good, like when we were still in love...' The effects of the drug lasted most of the night. By the time the morning sun spilled over the dark green bedspread, it cast a soft glow on Alice's pale skin. Her long and silver hair draped gently over her, making her like a sleeping fairy. The sunlight was so strong that it caused her to frown slightly, and she slowly opened her eyes. As expected, Raymond was long gone by then. Alice couldn't help but smile bitterly. 'Is he afraid that I may try to hurt him again while he's sleeping?' The sensation from last night still lingered in her hands—Raymond had taken his time and made his final release after what felt like ages. Afterward, he'd kissed her forehead and told her to sleep. But what she couldn't understand was why, despite how much Raymond had clearly been struggling to hold back, he hadn't tried to force her again. Unable to make sense of it, she decided to push the thought aside. When she went downstairs to the living room, the first thing she saw was the woman from last night. She was lounging on the sofa and sipping coffee with a smug expression. 'So she stayed here for a night?' Alice wondered. "You ruined my wonderful night, didn't you?" Sofia Lerin sneered as she caught sight of Alice. "I should've known you were just an innocent-looking b***h. If you hadn't shown up, it would've been me sharing a cozy night with Mr. Thorn." Alice didn't want to talk to her. Last night had drained her completely, and she didn't have the energy to deal with this. Right now, all she wanted was something to eat. But Sofia wasn't about to let her off that easily. She sauntered over to the dining table, her beautiful red lips spewing venomous words. "Alice, right? Yeah, I know who you are. You used to be Mr. Thorn's lover, but then you betrayed him," she said with a mocking laugh. "How does a disgusting betrayer like you even have the nerve to show your face in this estate again?" Seeing that Alice was ignoring her, Sofia grabbed the nearby cup of coffee, gave it a little swirl, and attempted to pour it over Alice's head. But before she could, Alice quickly caught her wrist, her gaze was bright and sharp,"Don't push your luck. I don't want any trouble, but don't you dare start any with me." Sofia sneered, her tone dripping with scorn. "You don't actually think you can take me on, do you? I'm the head of the Love Nest Lounge—you don't stand a chance." She leaned in closer, her voice a taunting whisper in Alice's ear. "You know who Mr. Thorn has been turning to for his needs these past five years, right?" Alice remained calm as ever. "Pathetic." Sofia clicked her tongue in mock sympathy. "You don't seriously think you're his one and only, do you? Let me clue you in—Raymond hasn't loved you for a long time. Phyllis is the one he truly cares about." Seeing Alice's face suddenly go pale, Sofia smirked, satisfied. Alice had ruined her night, and she'd make sure she wouldn't have the last laugh. The screech of a chair being pushed back cut through the tension as Alice stood up to leave. Sofia immediately came up to block her way. "You think you're going to stay here much longer? Once Phyllis is back, you'll be out on the street," Sophia said. "Ms. Lerin, I believe I informed you an hour ago that it was time for you to leave." Philip's voice suddenly cut through their confrontation. He stood on the staircase, glanced at his watch, and then asked, "Why are you still here?" Sofia's smile faltered, and she stammered, "But Mr. Thorn hasn't returned yet. What if... he wants me to stay..." "That is Mr. Thorn's decision," Philip interrupted, his brow furrowing. "Or did I not make it clear last night why you were here?" Sofia's expression darkened. Of course, she knew that last night was nothing more than an act—Raymond had no intention of sleeping with her! Philip then made a gesture towards the gate. With no other choice, Sofia shot Alice a venomous glare before storming off. Once Sofia was gone, Philip turned to Alice with a gentle smile. "My apologies for that unpleasant scene. Please don't believe anything she said. It's all lies." Alice tossed the silver fork back onto the table. "I suppose she should thank you for showing up." Philip raised his eyebrows but said nothing more. Instead, he changed the subject. "The gowns have arrived. Would you care to select one now?" "Gowns?" Alice asked with a puzzled face. Philip nodded and explained, "Mr. Thorn mentioned that he'd like you to join him at a banquet this evening." He made an inviting gesture, his voice carrying a hint of something deeper. "There might be some familiar faces at the event."
