Chapter 2

VOLTARIA'S POV I glare at my father after the Akeldama's retire for the night. I don’t even know that they will stay for the night.  “Stop glaring. You will thank me in the future." He said to me. Nezera holds my arms, prevented me from attacking this low life I call my father.  "Your father is right Voltaria. Just follow what we had planned for your future. You're a princess, successor to our throne. We don't want a low life farmer to be the next King.." Mother scoffs.  “That farmer is my daughter's father. Violeta needs a father figure. Not another mother." Father laughs.  "Trust me Voltaria dear, she's a father alright. Well if she's like her mother and grandmother." My parents both snickers. I look at my parents with confusion.  “Oh Voltaria, your the smartest vampire in this kingdom. Get a clue will you." Father smiles. Was he really smiling? At me?! I turned to face my sister. "They said that princess Cara maybe has the power to procreate. Meaning, you two probably can have little hybrid creatures together." My eyes widen. “I'm dead serious," Nezera answered me. I forgot she can read mind.  “Voltaria, you should stop meeting that farmer and focus on your wedding. If you mess this up..." Father turned to Violeta who's sleeping soundly on the love seat. "That thing will be my new statue in the throne room." Father gave me a cynical smile and walk out of my room with my mother.  “Maybe it's for the best." I turned to my sister. Can't believe she just said that!  “You ever fall in love Nez? No. You don't know how I feel right now!"  “But V... He's... Just a farmer. I don't think he can be a great father and provider to you and Violeta." Nezera walks towards Violeta.  “And he probably married to someone by now. He's a vampire. He has needs." I really don't want to think that this is all true. But sometimes, she has a point in some way.  “Think about it V. Violeta is your future and Cara can give you that future. Brighter even." Nezera smile and kissed her niece's forehead.  "Goodnight." She smiles and went out of our room.  I went to Violeta and lifted her up to put her on the bed. I went to her dresser and changed her clothes to a comfortable one. After I'm done with her, I tuck her in and proceed to put something comfortable myself. "Tomorrow is a new day Voltaria...." I went to my bed and kissed Violeta's forehead.  “Goodnight my little vampire..." I whispered and lay down. Violeta stirred and hugs me with her little arms. I smile and closed my eyes.  *** "Momma..." I feel someone shaking my body.  "Momma...." That voice. It’s Violeta. I open my eyes to see her smiling face. I smile back at her.  "Yes, dear?"  “Horseback riding. Please?" I got up to a sitting position and smile at my daughter.  “Sure. Let’s ride Sorcha today." Violeta jumped on the bed excitedly.  "Get ready." Violeta smiles.  “Already. See." She's right. She's wearing a different kind of outfit.  “Alright then. I'm gonna get ready. Go wake aunt Nezera." She nods and ran to the door. I went to the bathroom and get myself ready. After I'm done, I went to search for my daughter and sister.  As I was walking across the hallway, I hit something... Or someone. It gave me a little jolt and it actually made me took a step back.  “I'm sorry..." I apologise. I look up and was about to smile when I noticed it's my ’future groom’. "Oh... You... I take it back." I was about to walk away when she grabbed my hand. I hissed at her.  "Don't touch me!" She let go and held up her hand.  “Can I come with you. I mean.. Horseback riding." I look at her before rolling my eyes. I don't know if I should be angry or...  “Ugh. Just follow me." I turn my heels and walk without waiting for her. I heard the sound of her boots followed behind me.  “Momma! You're late!" Violeta crossed her hand and pout. "She has your attitude," Nezera said.  “Very funny." I started to put Violeta's cloak on. I proceed to put on mine. We were waiting for the princess to put on hers when she just stands still and look around. I sigh heavily. Do I have to tell her everything?  “Do I have to show you where the cloak is? Put it on." She looks at the direction I'm pointing.  "Do I have to tell you everything?" I said coldly. Nezera nudged my side.  “I don't need them." We both look at each other.  "Yes, you do. Or you will turn to dust and cease to exist." She shakes her head.  “I don't need to cover by myself." She said and smiled at Violeta.  “I'm Cara." Violeta smiled at her and waved. The guards walk towards us with Sorcha, my horse.  "Sorcha!!!" Violeta beamed. “You can use my horse." Nezera offered. Cara shakes her head.  “My cousin will arrive soon... Right..... Now." Suddenly we all feel a great rush of wind blew towards us. It's like as if a dragon flaps its wings just beside us. “Selene Caralia Akeldama..." A deep female voice said outside the Royal barn.  "Raelia..." Cara smiled.  “This is my 'horse'." This Raelia woman raised both eyebrows.  “Excuse me." I watched as this woman's brown hair turned to the colour similar to fire.  “I am Raelia Hardia. Daughter of Rose and Moana Hardia. Granddaughter of Satan and Octavia, the archangel, Talan and Ardra Morag." Now that's what I call a very long... Introduction.  "Voltaria Amador. This is my sister, Nezera and my daughter, Violeta." Raelia looks at my sister.  "A vampire witch?" Nezera nods. I lifted Violeta up and hold the leash so that Sorcha won't gallop. I begin to walk and I watched as Cara walked out to the sun, without burning herself to dust.  “The Akeldama's can withstand the sun," Raelia explained.  "She can stay longer because she's part werewolves."  “She can turn to a werewolf?" Raelia nods.  “A mighty one." Suddenly I remember something.  “This wolf... She has blue eyes?" Raelia nods again.  “Wait... You've seen Caca?" I shake my head.  "Then how?"  “I saw her eyes turned from its original to blue. It didn’t last long. It comes as fast as it goes.” Raelia look like she saw a ghost.  "You've seen Caca without her showing herself?" I slowly nod.  “Just her eyes." She turned to her cousin.  “Caca never showed herself. Not after Soleria death..." She said and went to her cousin. Nezera nudged my side.  “See! You're special." I glare and walk around as Violeta enjoying herself.  “Momma... Why can't I be like Cara?" Like Cara? "Why do you want to be like her?" I asked.  “She can walk with no cloak." Hmmm. How can I explain this?  “She's different than us little one."  “How?" I try to think a perfect word for this.  "She's... 2 people in one body. She can turn to a werewolf, we can't." Violeta said a really long oh. Finally, she got it.  "Why can't I turn to a werewolf?" Seriously this kid.  “Because I am not a werewolf. Nor is your father." She cutely tilted her head.  “Father? No momma. I only have you. And that's enough." She smiled.  “See V. Even the kid don't want to have a father like him." My sister whispered.  “Just marry the princess. I mean.. Look at her." I turned to Cara.  “She's beautiful, she's strong, and look at those tone abs, muscle, not to mention her powers. She's perfect." Cara turned to meet my gaze. She nods and gave me a charming smile before continued to talk to Raelia.  I shake my head. She's not charming! She's not charming! "I'm sorry your highness." Two Royal guards bow to me.  “We have a problem." I stop walking and nods at Nezera to take Violeta away.  “What kind of problem? Does the King know?" The guards look at each other.  “He said to let you handle it since his guest is around." I should have known. I gestured for them to continue.  “Some of the villagers said they saw a group of rogue vampires entering the festival last night." Cara and Raelia went to my side.  “They try to terrorise the booth and scared off the kids that went to the festival." He continued. “Did your man capture them?" The guards look guilty.  “Unfortunately. But..." They look at each other.  "They... Umm..."  “Just say it." I'm beginning to feel annoyed by this. "We found four dead kids body outside the festival ground. They all been suck dry. Some badly injured." My eyes widen. Oh no... They're back.  “Your highness... They're back. The same type of killing, age group and... Type." Why now of all time?! “I want to see them all." Cara suddenly said.  "You guys didn’t move them yet right?" The guards' nod at Raelia.  "Bring us to them," Cara said. The guards look at me before giving them permission.  "Follow us your highnesses." We started to walk towards the festival ground. It's closed for now and only open at night. Some vampires can't stand in the sunlight like us royals. The guards lead us to a secluded area and I noticed a group of guards, circling something. "Here."  “DON’T TOUCH IT!" Cara thundered. The guard flinched and move away from the corpse.  “I can track their scent. Neither of you touches it yet right?" They all nod.  “We were waiting for the princess." I watched as Cara crouch and lifted the corpse up to her chest.  She didn’t even care that it stained her clothes. The guards including me gasped at how bold she acted.  “It’s best if we stand back," Raelia said and we all did. Suddenly, I noticed something... Something weird... Like a drawing? No. It's something appearing on her stomach. It looks like some kind of a tree root. And it's glowing.  She placed her palm on one of the corpse faces and closed her eyes. I watched as the roots appear on her hands. Suddenly a flash of light blinded us all for a second. Then we heard a voice. A soothing and yet powerful voice.  “What is it that you need my child?" That voice says.  "I’m sorry for interrupting your slumber. But could you please tell me who is responsible for this unnecessary death.." Cara said. I try to open my eyes but the lights still blinding me.  Who ... is she talking to? “You all can open your eyes now." That voice said. I did and my eyes landed on a woman, a very, very beautiful woman with her golden hair flowing down while wearing a white flowing dress.  I also noticed she's not wearing anything to protect her foot. Raelia knelt and automatically I followed her so does my guards. The woman stared at all the four corpses.  “This is part of a ritual. Tell me, when was the last time you spoke to your grandfather?" Raelia stand. We followed suit. "Couple of hundred years ago perhaps."  “Are you aware of what's happening in my world. And your grandfather's world?" Raelia shakes her head. Selene turns to meet Cara.  “War. Between good and evil. My prophecy is coming true, my child. And they..." She gestured at the corpse.  "Are the result of this war." Cara stand. Her eyes meet mine.  “Tell me where to find them and I shall give you their body as sacrificial," Selene smirk.  “You truly are my descendant... That roots I gave you will tell you where to search, which to kill." Selene turned to me.  “Bring your bride with you. Kora made a good choice. She has potential." I bow to the goddess.  "You three will go together after midnight. That's when they all come out to play." Selene walks to me and touches my chin.  “I sense a lot of anger. Why don't you like my child?" She whispered.  “I can show you how unfaithful this Radomir you love." I took an abrupt step back and fell on my butt.  “Princess!.." My guards went to my side. I stopped them. Selene gave me a cynical smile.  “I don't like the real agenda of your parents. But my child likes you." She said and walks away from me. Is that right? Does Cara like me?  “Give me the corpse. I will train them." Selene said and snaps her fingers. It disappeared. The corpses disappeared! "They're orphans." She said.  "We shall meet again." And just like that, she’s gone from our sight. Cara offered me her hands.  "I'm sorry. She can be very mean sometimes. But she's a good goddess." She smiles. I took her hands and went back to the palace. *** SELENE'S POV I flew through the night heavenly sky with my silver chariot and landed on my own soil. After meeting Cara and her so call the bride to be, I have the needs to go to my secret chamber. The chamber where I hold my offspring's dead body. My own flesh and blood who try to overthrow me from my rightful throne.  Another reason why I made a deal with Thana years ago. To have my own heir who will protect the kingdom from... Someone who was once so dear to me. I placed my hand on the door and it groaned. I walked through the hallways and stopped in front of the three caskets. I traced my fingers on the golden seal and sigh.  "If only you three think like I do, and not like your fathers..."  “Is this vendetta?" A voice startled me. I turned and I noticed a familiar figure in front of me. The person who once rule over me.  “What are you doing here Zeriah?" I asked. She smiled and move the strand of blonde hair from her face.  “You know what I want Selene or shall I say... Luna." That name. It's been so long.  “My name is Selene. Not Luna." She started to walk towards me.  “How are you? I mean for a person who willing to kill her own offsprings, you must be... Beat up?" She giggled. “You know I have to kill them to save everyone."  "Why did you gave Thana's offsprings your powers?" She asked and flew towards the casket.  "Because I have to!" I said through gritted teeth.  "Is this about him?" She asked. She perfectly knows why and yet she’s asking me about it. "GET OUT!" I thundered.  “I’m sensing a lot of anger from you!" She laughed before glaring at me. “I've been imprisoned for so long! When will you use me!” How dare she asked such a question! "I've used you enough last time." She flew around me and leaned in.  “I'm available now my goddess." Maybe I can use her but ...  "So you want to be of use?" She nods.  “Meet Cara at midnight. Follow her and kill as many souls as you can." She smiles and bow before slowly disappeared in the darkness of the chamber. Finally. Some peace of mind.  I felt a presence.  “Selene?" Was that...  “It's me... Aurora."  “Where are you? What do you want?" I asked around.  “In your mind. I want to warn you."  “I know sister. I know he's coming for me." I heard a sigh.  “You never change. I will be there when you need me the most." Suddenly it all went silent.  "You all will not weaken me. I know you tried before. But this casket will seal your soul from being free." I clenched my fist.  “You will not cross me again my dear children. You will never be free." I turned my heels and walk out of the chamber.  “My goddess,” A guard bows down.  “Stand up."  He handed me a scroll and excuse himself. I begin to read the scroll.  “Now everyone is happy when Cara and Voltaria want to be together huh?" I asked no one in particular.  “What kind of powers will you want to give her?" A voice asked. I’m pretty I am alone right now though.  “Is that you Luna?" I asked... Myself.  She waved at me from the mirror. Luna, my alter ego. The sweet, kind and graceful Luna.  “Why are you here?"  “I'm sensing a lot of tension in you. Maybe it's time for me to take over your body." I shake my head.  “He's going after us. I won't let you take over." Luna gave me a sad smile. "Am I that weak in front of your eyes?" I shake my head.  “Luna you're not weak. Just too... Kind." Luna smiled.  “I am kind. You're... Not. Next time let me take over. I want to meet Cara and her new bride."  "You will Luna." I sat on the couch and moved the mirror to face me with my telekinesis.  "Are you really going to kill him?"  “Why not? I killed my own children for my people. Why not him?" Luna seems sad.  "Luna. I will not let you deal with it. It will be me who will end him." She nods.  “I know. But. He's our flesh and blood." I scoffed.  "After what he's done, he's not for me."  "Luna... I will take responsibility." I smile at her.  "Okay. I will be here always when you need me." I nod before disappeared. I look up and smile at the moon. It’s a lovely night for a hunt. I hope Cara and the others made it. "Well... Let's make sure she uses the powers I grant with good judgement and rational. I don't need to clean up every problem that she made." I said to myself and hoping she won’t mess up like before.
