Hunting Pt. 3

        My mom chided Haley saying this didn’t need to be in public. I linked her, “Then you shouldn't have done it in public. You broke your own damn rule you hypocrite.” She tried to link me back, but I blocked her. I didn’t want to hear a word she had to say. I explained the rules of the fight and linked my mother, “If you partially shift, I swear to the moon goddess, I will fight you and take you down in front of the pack in human and wolf form. Control your wolf. Are we clear?” My mom nodded. When she thought Haley was distracted, she charged. She thought she was so damn smart. Haley was messing with her. That became very clear with each move. Emmaline popped in right next to me. Haley and my mom traded insults. There was a clear physical and verbal winner of this fight, and it was Haley. She hit everything on the head with what she said to my mother. When Haley began to pick at her nails. Miley, Lexi, and Emmaline couldn’t hold back their laughter. Emmaline sighed, “Here I was worried for nothing.” I said, “You must be Emmaline.” She smiled, “Hello Eric.” I smiled, “Nice to officially meet you.” She giggled, “Oh we’ve spied on you guys so much I feel like I know all of you. You don’t make it easy with your equipment sweeps. We had to keep moving them in and out. You guys are paranoid. It’s very annoying.” I gaped, “You had cameras up?” Emmaline nodded, “Oh yeah.” Jackson linked, “Fairies.” I linked Lucas, “Are you close yet?” He linked, “Keep her there. I can feel her. I’m running as fast as I can.” I said, “She doesn't appear to be leaving.” 

        Haley realized my mother’s problem was her fairy side. Emmaline confirmed it. I didn’t need it confirmed. I knew since I was thirteen years old what her damn problem was. Haley gave my mom ample chances to end the fight, but she was too proud and stubborn. Bjourn said Haley’s name, but it was a command. A command to end the fight. Haley gave my mom one last chance. A chance to realize she was destined for this. It was good appeal. My mother ignored her saying when she was, she wouldn’t take the Luna title until she was twenty. I linked my dad, “She’s not going to win, but even if she did…. that’s NOT her decision. She’s NOT the Luna and it’s NOT her damn call. It’s mine. She will be my Luna as soon as I can make it happen, and mom cannot come.” My dad sighed, “Alright Eric.” I softened my tone, “I’m sorry dad.” He linked back, “I know that son. I love you boys, but she’s, my mate. I love your mother. I know she’s flawed, but I love her.” I said, “As you should. I love her too. I just don’t like her right now. At all.” Haley countered saying when she won my mom had to back off the girls. The girls? I linked Jackson, “The f**k?” He linked back, “No idea.” Haley told my mom she knew what she’d been doing to them because she’d been watching. I linked my brothers, “What the HELL is she talking about?” Harold linked, “I don’t know. Tabitha has never said mom was this bad to her. We are going to have a chat.” I linked, “Let me know.”

        My mother charged Haley again. Really? Was she insane? Haley knocked her out but caught her before she fell to the ground. She really astounded me. I’d have let her fall to the ground. She carried her into the hospital. I was one step behind her when an arm clapped my back. I turned, “Dad?” He asked, “Give me a moment with her please. I know your mother has her issues with this, but I want her to know…. I truly think she’s the perfect choice for you. I do, son. I always have. She matches you in a way I feared you wouldn’t have. I’ve long worried about your mate. You need a certain type, and it’s Haley. She’s everything I prayed for the moon goddess for you.” I closed my eyes and nodded. He walked by me, “Thank you Eric.” I stepped back outside. Emmaline said, “She’s bleeding...why was she bleeding? Fighting Cassandra hurt her feelings.” I frowned, “What do you mean?” Emmaline sighed, “She wanted her to like her. Haley’s hurt that she won’t give her a chance.” I growled. Jackson said, “She handled it, Eric.” Emmaline sighed, “I should get back to Faerie, but I need to talk to Haley.” Lexi said, “Yeah, you should wait. See if her soul needs to be settled. Better safe than sorry.” I raised an eyebrow at Lexi who winked. Emmaline nodded, “You’re right Lex. I wouldn’t want to leave her soul unsettled. She does not do well like that. She’s a sensitive soul.” I linked Lucas, “You are getting slow.” He linked, “I’m almost there!” I said, “The good news is you and I have the least selfish fairies of all time so she’s still here.” Lucas said, “I’d ask but I’m really focused on getting to your territory.” 

        Haley stepped out and Emmaline went to her saying her soul was in a strange place. I didn’t like that at all. I saw Lucas shift and grab clothes. Dylan was close behind him. Haley told Emmaline to turn around. Lucas ran to her claiming her as his own. Dylan yelled at me. I rolled my eyes at him. I grabbed Haley into my arms. Another fairy popped in. I was guessing this was Prince Marcious. He ordered Emmaline home. My whole pack growled. Even Dylan stood ready to fight him. That’s when you knew it was serious. If Dylan was ever ready to throw down without a funny thing to say about…. that’s when you were about to see a side of Beta Dylan that showed why he was a beta. Haley commanded Emmaline to stay. The pack turned to her in surprise as she stood ready to defend Emmaline and fight a water prince. Haley finally appealed to the father in him. Telling him he was hurting her. Emmaline was crying. She was begging her dad to let her stay. Lucas had her behind him second. I linked Lucas, “He won’t take her from you. We won’t let him.” He growled, “She’s mine. I won't let her go now.” I looked at Haley. I answered, “I know exactly how you feel.” Marcious sighed and apologized. Emmaline peeked out asking if she could stay. Marcious agreed. Lucas told him he was welcome to see her in their territory. He linked me, “But if he ever tries to take her again, I’ll kill him so fast his head spins.” I said, “It would be better for your relationship with your mate if you let me kill him.” Lucas shrugged.

        Marcious turned towards Haley with interest. She began to feel strange in our bond. She started gigging. Marcious asked who gave her drugs. DRUGS?! I looked at Bjourn and Marcus in a panic. They’d told me what happened when she’d sprained her wrist on a mission. Her dad insisted she be given pain killers. They couldn't catch her for hours. At least she couldn’t pop. She stunned me by popping away from me. Marcious told us his and Emmaline’s presence speeding up her powers returning. Great. Just f*****g great. I tried to reason with her by reminding her about her arm. She simply healed it and told me to catch her. She popped away. I growled. Dylan said, “OH MY GOD! Emmaline…. would you like some morphine? SOMEONE bring me morphine for my fairy Luna!” Lucas growled, “DYLAN!” Dylan said, “What? Two fairies popping around the territory high as a kite….it could only make this better Lucas. That’s what you have me for….to make things better. Two is better than one Lucas. There’s even a song about it.” Marcious said, “Good luck. With the four of them here…. together….” he started laughing then popped away. We started searching. I linked Caleb and Marshall, “Look for treehouses. You’re included in them so you can see them.” Marshall said, “Uhh treehouses?” I said, “Just do it!” I was looking with my brothers. I was getting closer to her when she popped behind me. 

        She told me we were losing. Oh dear god. Dylan was practically dancing with joy. Emmaline popped Miley and Lexi to our group saying she wanted to play. Haley yelled it was the fearsome foursome versus us. We all yelled no but they popped away anyway. I cursed. I followed our bond. Alpha Chase said, “My dad sees them…. he’s laughing. Hysterical.” We ran to his border. I gaped. Haley had snapped them all into the hunting outfits. Chase, Lucas, and Jim were growling ferociously. They’d killed a deer. Haley giggled when she saw me, “One to nothing Alpha!” They popped away. Chase linked me, “WHAT THE f**k IS THAT OUTFIT?!” I answered, “It’s the Hackura mate ceremony boar hunt outfit.” Alpha Chase said, “THE WHAT?” We shifted back. I turned to Bjourn, “Where would she go to hunt next?” Dylan shifted, “Don’t you DARE answer that question Bjourn! This is AMAZING! They look like Viking warrior princesses! This is amazing! And they are running away from you all. Only ONE of them is on drugs. Ahhh the karmic justice of it all Alpha Fun Suckers mate can pop her happy high ass away from him.” He laughed hysterically then added, “And he can’t catch her. Oh moon goddess…. you have answered my prayers…. this is his karma. I’m getting a dart gun. It will shoot small doses of morphine into his fairy…. GOD it’s too good!” I growled at him. Bjourn pointed and ran back towards my territory. We found them again. They’d killed three rouges at my border with Alpha Hammond. I growled. Haley giggled, “Two to zero!” I shifted back, “Angel…. can you stay with me please?” She clapped, “I love when you call me that.”

        I smiled, “I know.” She said, “But no. Bye Eric! You really need to get better at catching me.” I groaned. Dylan shifted back cackling, “But no! Fairies! Partial fairies! But no. Has anyone EVER said that to you Eric?” A pop sounded. I saw an amused Aiden. I growled, “What?” He said, “Marcious called. Said someone drugged my sister. Where is she?” I said, “Killing animals and claiming to be winning our game that we aren’t playing.” Aiden laughed, “I’ll go make sure she’s ok.” He popped and we shifted again. Lucas linked me, “My dad says they are at the border. Emmaline stopped to talk to him because she recognized him. They killed another deer.” We made it there. Emmaline smiled, “You’re dad’s so nice Lucas!” Lexi said, “The question is whether or not his mother is nice.” Miley said, “Damn straight.” Emmaline said, “Oh she’s very nice! She has a very nice soul.” Haley said, “It’s just a curse of mine. Mothers and I don’t mix.” I winced. I shifted back, “Angel?” She shrugged, “Who could blame them? My own biological mother is a b***h to me. I’ve got a great mom. She raised me and she loves me. That’s enough for me. You’re still losing Alpha.” She winked at me Chase growled, “Lexi….” She smirked, “I’ll race you to our border Chase.” I hadn’t realized Ted was with them until Matt shifted back and growled. Ted was wearing what Jackson and I had worn to the ceremony. Haley had even snapped war paint on him. He winked at Matt, “Catch me my wolf.” Ted and Lexi took off. Jim shifted, “Miles….” She laughed, “I hate cardio Jim. I’m not about to run away and tell you to catch me.” She kissed Emmaline’s cheek, “Enjoy your wolf. If anyone here is mean to you, I’ll gut them.” Haley laughed, “What she said.” Emmaline blushed. 

        I sighed, “So... the game is over.” Haley giggled, “No, they are just tapping out.” Jim said, “Miles…” Miley said, “I said I wasn't going to run...I said nothing about being popped away.” She grabbed Miley and popped away. We ran back to our territory. Miley was waiting for Jim outside the pack house. I growled, “Where’s Haley?” Marcus sighed, “She’ll have made another treehouse.” Miley smirked, “A treehouse just for Eric to find.” Bjourn sighed, “No one is allowed to give her drugs.” I took off into the forest. I went to the place Logan told me Haley would love here. He’d been right. This one even had a pool on the deck. I ran into the house. She said, “I hope you do better in a confined space Alpha.” I growled, “Haley….” She popped outside. I jumped at her and she popped away. I ended up in the pool. I growled. I got out and chased her all over the house. Finally I caught her in the kitchen. I growled, “I win.” She smiled, “What are you going to do now that you’ve won?” I kissed her and linked, “Claim the f**k out of my prize.” She shivered in my arms. Her desire skyrocketed through the bond. I gripped her ass tightly and set her on the counter. I looked into her eyes, “Mine.” I trailed my hands down her outfit. She said, “You did say you wanted to see it later.” I smirked, “So I did.”
