         One more hour on the road and we reached Kathy's house.  From a previous phone call, I knew only her and Tommy were at home, while the others were sent to town to do some shopping. I offered to pass by the market and buy what they needed, but there was no way Kathy and her "hospitable" self would let me do it, despite how much her husband and older son wished otherwise.        "You go ahead, I will come right after you with the luggage."        I looked at Ryder and then at the stack of bags in the trunk. There was no way he could carry all of that by himself. Only the jars with jam and pickles my parents told me to give Kathy weighed a ton.
