Chapter 2: Heartbeat

Once the online concert of the girl group Pink girls was over Park Seo-ah's gaze falls on Kai and she smile softly before nudging his elbow, “Seems like someone is blushing.” She says this to Kai in a playful and teasing tone and hearing this, Kai turns his face towards the other side to hide the faint blush on his face, “Stop it okay! It’s not a blush.. I’m just feeling hot!” says Kai in order to dismiss the words said by Seo-ah. “Whatever sails your boat Kai Kitagawa.” Answers Seo-ah to him before she gets up from her seat and stretches lazily, “Okay! Then.. Well.. We’ll take a leave now.” Says Seo-ah looking at Lee Do-Yeon as they both got up from their places and walk out Kai’s house. Kai was left alone with his thoughts and his mind wandered unconsciously to the thoughts of Kim Mi-Soo, he thought she was cute and her voice was magical, while he was thinking about her, his heart skipped a beat and he ran towards his mother’s room, “mama! Mama! I wanna talk to you!” says Kai to Yuki as she was reading her book, “Calm down my boy! Come have a seat!” she says this and taps on the empty seat next to her before Kai walks towards her and takes his seat next to her, “Now! Tell me what is it, my dear boy?” says Yuki as she keeps her book on the coffee table and keeps her chin on the palm of her hand resting on her knee, Kai looks at her and takes a deep breath, “Mama! Something is happening to me.” Says Kai in a gentle and shy tone fiddling with his fingers while looking at his lap. “something is wrong? What happened, darling? Do you want me to call the doctors?” asks Yuki in a worried tone before Kai looks at her and shakes his head, “no! no! Mama.. It’s not like what you think it is!” he says this and scammers with his words, Yuki raises an eyebrow at Kai’s behaviour and speaks in a calm tone, “Oh Darling! Tell me what is it that is making you worried?” she says this to him before squeezing his hand in a reassuring way. Kai listening to his mother’s encouragement takes a deep breath before he lifts his head to meet her gaze and speak in a calm, gentle and low tone.. “Well, mama! So today when we were seeing the performance of girl group Pink girls” He hesitates as he says this and closes his eyes momentarily before looking at her and speaking again, “So mama! When I saw this concert with Park Seo-ah and Lee Do-Yeon, there was this particular girl named Kim Mi-Soo and I don’t know what happened but I felt my heart skipping a beat every time she sang or looked at the TV screen, my cheeks flushed and turned crimson and my heart raced like a horse, mama!” Kai takes a sigh of relief as he finally tells the effects Kim Mi-Soo was having on him. Listening to Kai’s words Yuki chuckles softly before leaning forward and cupping his face in her hands, “oh my dear boy! It’s nothing special you’re feeling attracted towards Kim Mi-Soo.. And Maybe you have fallen in love with her.” She says this in a calm and gentle tone to Kai, as soon as Kai hears this, he looks at Yuki and takes a deep breath, “Come on mama! It’s not like this, I haven’t seen her before and neither I have met her in my life! How can I fall in love with her? That’s absurd..” Kai says this in order to defend himself against the love allegations of his mother to which Yuki responds with a light giggle before she squeezes Kai’s hand before withdrawing her touch. “I know what you feel right know, my son! But don’t worry if you think you don’t love her, then be it so, but remember one thing darling! Sooner or later you’ll realise that your old mama was right!” says Yuki to Kai and chuckle, “what ever mama! But I hope you’re not right this time.. You can’t be right every time mama!” Says Kai in a playful tone before he gets up from the chair and begins to walk out of Yuki's room. Yuki laughs softly at Kai’s words before she returns to read her book. Meanwhile in his room Kai is sitting on the study table and drawing sketches for his manga which he wants to submit for submission in the next week for a manga competition, “Kim Mi-Soo, she looks really cute and pretty. I guess I can get a chance to meet her.” These were the thoughts going on in Kai’s mind while he was working, He throws his drawing pencil on the table and growls in irritation, “Why the hell I’m thinking about her! Focus Kai.” Says Kai to himself, but it was said rather done as Kai finds himself thinking about Kim Mi-Soo once again and not able to hold anymore, he takes off his phone and searched for Kim Mi-Soo, “Look at her smile, her eyes, her nose, her lips, her hair.. Oh god! Everything is so perfect! How can someone be as beautiful and pretty as her. She isn’t a human maybe an angel.” Says Kai to himself while scrolling through the pictures of Kim Mi-Soo on his phone a faint blush creeping onto his face as he looks at the picture of Kim Mi-Soo in front of his eyes before he clutches his phone tightly around his chest. “Maybe mama is right! I do am falling for her. But why? I haven’t met her before neither I like K-Pop..” says Kai to himself before he turns off the lights of his room and closes his eyes to take some rest amidst the thoughts of Kim Mi-Soo lingering his mind, “Good night, Kim Mi-Soo! Sweet dreams” he says this aloud to himself with a smile on his face as he closes his eyes and drifts off to sleep. With Kim Mi-Soo still on his mind, Kai feels something has changed in him, his heart isn’t beating just to pump blood to his veins but it has also learnt to have feelings for someone else who is slowly making place a soft spot in Kai’s heart a place now which is going to permanent for that one special person, named Kim Mi-Soo. Kai is in love for the very first time in his life and this can been felt by him in his “Heartbeat.”
