I am a Ghost

815 Words
Nanika's POV Some hours before the meeting between Levi and Nanika I opened my eyes and looked at my surroundings. 'This is where I died', I thought while looking around, hoping to see anyone around. I finally saw a woman pass by and shouted "Auntie!' but it was to no avail. I got off the road and run towards the woman but the woman casually walked through me, causing me to remember what was happening to me. I had truly turned into a ghost. 'Wow, Mr. Agony did not lie to me. I truly have turned into a ghost. Seems like he can be trusted.' I thought as I walked towards my house. As walked towards my house, I looked around and it seemed that the environment was different than from before I died. It was unfamiliar to me, but yet familiar at the same time. I finally reached my house, well, what I remembered as my house, but it looked different from my old house. Different colour of the house, designs on the wall and my father's car was nowhere to be seen. I put all of this to the back of my mind and phased through the door, entering my house. I walked through the hall of the house when I heard cutlery colliding into each other and a faint noises of conversation. I walked to the dining room, the source of these sounds, and I saw an unknown family happily eating their dinner, with a little girl sitting at my seat. Tears started strolling down my cheeks as I realized that my family had left this house. I left the house, completely dejected and went to sit behind the house. The memories began flooding my mind as my cries became audible. Some time passed and I wiped the tears of my cheeks and put a smile on my face, hoping it would hide my sorrows. I then got up and went to Levi's house. I reached Levi's home, completely by memory since the path had way too many changes, and was glad that at least his home still looked the same. I immediately phased through the back door and cautiously walked through his house, hoping to prank Levi at the first opportunity. I entered every single room in his house but could not find even a single trace of Levi there. I finally entered the last room, his bedroom. As expected, Levi was not here, indicating that he was not at home. I then decided to scan his room and was glad that at least his room had not changed. I then walked to the right vertex of the room, right near the window. There, I found his manga, piled onto each other. I bent down to pick one up and my hand naturally passed through the manga. 'Right, I am a ghost', I reminded myself, before withdrawing. "Nanika," I heard behind me, causing me to turn around. There, I saw a man, probably in his forties, with a very masculine face, giant white wings at his back and a faint halo above his head. "You have returned to Gaia through unorthodox means. You have to come to Andresia." He declared with an impassive face. "Never! I am staying here no matter what." "Girl, you seem to not understand the severity of your actions. One wrong step could be the doom of us all, including the place you are trying so hard to stay on." "I don't care. I am not going to Andresia?" "You are lucky that I am only acting as a messenger, but the next time I come back, I will not be alone." The man boldly stated before vanishing into thin air. 'Was that just an angel Agony warned me about? Seems I will have to be careful with my stay here. However, this will never change my decision of fulfilling my promise with Levi,' I thought before leaving Levi's room. "Where could Levi be? I thought I was hiding. How did the tables turn on me so fast?" I asked myself while pouting. I then left his house to look for him. I walked around the nearest vicinity and still could not find him. There, I felt a presence, highly likely to be male, pass behind me. I turned around to check if it was Levi but saw some random teen walking towards their destination. Feeling dejected, I got ready to go back to Levi's house to wait for Levi when the teenager stopped and turned around. I was shocked to see a grown up face of Levi and wondered if I was dreaming. I mean like, how could he grow up so fast in some few minutes. The Levi lookalike's countenance clearly showed that he could see me, which further raised my bafflement. My confusion reached an ultimate peak when he asked, "Nanika, is it you?"
