Why don't you just give up

Levi POV "What is your desire?" the demon asked as he stared at me as if I was his next plaything. I got off the ground, looking at the surroundings I just happened to fall in. I finally took another look at the demon and said to it, "Why are you asking me that question? You know why I am here so give me what I came here for instead of wasting my time." I looked at the demon as a smile widened on his lips. Suddenly, a tremendous force fell upon me, crashing me unto the ground as some bones broke upon impact. I coughed out the blood in my mouth when the demon said, "It seems you do not know who is in control of this situation." He then walked away when two giant men walked towards me, in their hands were swords as long as their arms. I tried to get up but the force sent me back onto the ground as the men walked closer to me. They began flaying my skin, little by little, the unbearable pain being sent upon me as I screamed, unable to do anything. They continued for what felt like ages, oblivious to the screams I made, my consciousness slipping away, when, all of a sudden, it just stopped. I opened my eyes and saw no one around me, the pain gone, and my body miraculously healed. I slowly got up before shouting towards the horizon, "What do you want from me?" "Tell me, why do you want this power? Why are forcing yourself to pass through this, knowing very well the repercussion of your failure." I heard a voice in my ears, seemingly having no source. "What nonsense are you talking about?" I asked, clearly not understanding what it was talking about. Swords began appearing around me endlessly as I heard the demon scoff and say "You have no right to wield my power." Sensing the approaching death, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath before the swords pierced my body as I fell to my death. I woke up, no swords poking through me, and looked around, seeing endless darkness around me. I then saw a faint light, far away from me and got up. I took my first step towards the light but stepped upon a multitude of needles, causing me to retract my leg while groaning in pain. "I wonder, why don't you just give up?" I heard the demon asking me, but I gave it no response. I clenched my teeth and took a step towards the light. I felt an immense pain at my foot but took another step forward. I walked towards the light, step by step, even as the pain increased with each step. The light became brighter and brighter, but suddenly, the floor split up, causing me to fall. I fell onto a vast plain of green grass and I tried to move my hand, but I immediately felt pain as I moved my arms. I looked at them and saw a huge nail pinning me unto the ground. I heard footsteps walking towards me and looked at the source of it, only to find the demon walking towards me. It suddenly conjured a chair and leisurely sat on it. "I asked this once and I will ask again. Why don't you give up? All this pain you are enduring for something you will never get when you could just stop and make all the pain go away." The demon asked me. I stayed silent, pondering upon what it just said. I looked at the demon and replied "What you said is true but..." A small smile crept on my lips as I continued "There is no way I am giving up." I then used my legs to propel my upper body upwards, the nails tearing deeply into my skin and the pain attacking me endlessly but I continued to raise my body up despite the pain. The demon shook his head and uttered "You are too weak." I woke up in Aces room, completely drenched as my sweat dripping down from my face. I immediately looked at my palms and saw neither a nail nor a huge wound on it. 'I am back,' I nearly cried out in joy, when the demon's last words resonated in my ear. "You are too weak." 'Tch, I failed to receive the Cynex ability. What am I going to do now,' I asked myself before leaving the room. I came out of the room and saw Ace lying on the couch with the TV on. 'This guy hasn't changed.' I thought before sighing and turning the TV off. I left the house and immediately went to my house before taking a nice warm shower. I came out of the bathroom in my sleepwear when I suddenly saw a face poking out of the wall beside me. I jumped in fright when I saw a head. Nanika?!!.she walked through the wall like it was an everyday experience. I held my beating heart, panting from the fright I just had, while asking "Why did you do that for." "Oh, I was getting used to being a ghost." "Please, do not do that again." I said before entering my room. I stopped and pondered on what she just said before turning and kicking the door open, yelling "You are a ghost?" "Yeah. Is it that shocking? I thought you already knew." She answered me, clearly not knowing why I was so shocked. 'How did you want me to figure that out? I thought you had a Cynex. What is happening today?' I thought before leaving back to my room, leaving the dumbfounded Nanika to stare at the closing door. I fell unto my bed and slowly drifted into sleep's embrace
