Sabil looked at me through his glasses. "We already made a mistake by not taking them with us yesterday. Anything could have happened. We just got lucky. Besides, I always have to go to the office with at least one bouncer with me because that's when I'm most vulnerable. They know when to attack. The extra protection is for you. God forbid if something happens on the way, at least one of the bouncers can manage to take you to safety. And no matter what, whether I return or not, you will leave for India immediately. Do you understand me? They will arrange for a flight ticket for tonight if needed. You won't wait."
A shiver ran up my spine. Strangely, the possibility of getting attacked didn't scare me but the possibility of Sabil not coming back did. I shuddered at the thought of watching Sabil covered in blood.
He was still looking at me. He slowly placed his palm on my cheek. "You okay?" He asked.
I managed to speak through trembling lips. "Why...are we...even going?"
"Cariño. You don't have to worry. The chances of them attacking me in the broad daylight are very less. I'm only talking about probability. Besides, we have weapons. And I can't let you just sit around at home and get bored. Nothing will happen to you." He planted a kiss on my forehead.
"I'm not worried about myself," I whispered.
Sabil took off his glasses and placed it beside him on the seat. My cheek was still under his warm palm. He looked in my eyes and sighed. "There is nothing to worry about. All these cars have bulletproof glasses." He said.
I nodded and rested my head on his shoulder. He wrapped his hand around my waist. I had my eyes closed for most of the ride.
When the car came to a pause, I opened my eyes and saw a white gate in the front through the windshield. I sat up straight. The security guards opened the gate. Emilio drove the car inside and the glass building was in the sight now. There were plants and trees on the wide lawn. Emilio drove on the curvy lawn and stopped outside the building entrance.
"Is this your office?" I asked Sabil.
"Si." He answered with a smile and wore his glasses.
We climbed down the car and I looked at the glass building. It was six-story. 'BELEN' was written in large steel alphabets right on top of the glass roof of the entrance.
"Belen?" I asked Sabil as we crossed the short distance between the car and the entrance.
"I named this company after my mother." He said.
I looked around the lawn. It had tall lamps in the entire landscape. The main road was visible outside the gate. A few employees were roaming around chatting, some of them smoking and some talking on their cell phones. As soon as they saw Sabil, they started greeting him with a slight panic expression on their face. Sabil greeted them back with a smile.
Most of the female employees wore formal short skirts, with heavy makeup and lean physique. They greeted Sabil with a smile as we walked inside the entrance of the building. I turned my head to look at them and found them giggling while looking at Sabil. I pursed my lips and blushed. Of course, he was the hot crush of every female employee of his company.
The reception area was wide. The walls were painted white and there must be more than fifty white ceiling lights. There were 6 three-seater russet grey sofas towards the right side of the reception and 6 mini round glass tables in front of the sofas. Unrecognizable tall colourful paintings were hung on each wall. A wide brown reception desk stood towards the far end from the entrance. Two beautiful blond receptionists in a navy blue vest and white shirt greeted us when we walked towards the elevator that was on the left side of their desk. I greeted back everyone politely.
One of the receptionists rose from her chair and walked towards the waiting area to speak with one of the guests. I noticed her navy blue mini skirt. She wore honey-coloured stockings beneath the skirt and black formal shoes. There were two elevators with silver doors and huge brown tiles on either side.
One of the bouncers pressed the button for the elevator. I realized Sabil's two bouncers had followed us but they didn't have their guns with them.
I looked at his other bouncer who was in the Jaguar. He had blond spiky hair, a round nose, a chin dimple, and his eyes were dark. He was as tall as Guzman and brawny. His perfect biceps were visible from his short sleeve shirt. His features were almost similar to Emilio, except that he had stubble beard and Emilio was cleanly shaven.
To my shock, Sabil held my hand while we waited for the elevator which was on the third floor. I noticed one of the receptionists sneak a look at our hands from the corner of her eyes and then shifted her eyes back on her computer screen. I tried to free my hand but he firmed his grip. I rolled my eyes. When the elevator came and the door opened, two men stepped out and greeted Sabil with a slight panic expression that everyone else seemed to have. He greeted them back and we stepped inside the elevator with Sabil's both bouncers. One of them pressed the sixth-floor button. Sabil was still holding my hand.
He took off his glasses with his free hand and hung it on the front of his shirt. The elevator opened on the sixth floor and there was a reception too. But a smaller one where one old lady sat in formal attire. She didn't wear a uniform. She must be around sixty years of age. Her salt and pepper hair tied in a neat bun. She wore a loose pink floral shirt and I noticed her black trousers when she rose and walked towards us. She had a white pearl necklace around her neck and matching pearl studs. She was shorter, her eyes were brown and her lips were painted with pink lipstick.
"Buenos Dias Sabil." She greeted him with a smile. I creased my eyebrows. Was she allowed to call him by his name?
"Buenos Dias Beatrisa. ¿Cómo está?" He asked with a smile.
"Estoy bein."
Sabil left my hand and wrapped it around my shoulder. "This is my girlfriend Saanj." He said blatantly.
Beatrisa and I both stared at each other with wide eyes. It came as a shock to me when Sabil addressed me as his girlfriend as much as it shocked her.
"Buenos Dias." She greeted me in a small voice. Her expressions were still mystified.
"Buenos Dias," I said to her and tried to pull a smile on my face.
"Saanj. Beatrisa has been my personal assistant for six years now. She's one of the best employees." Sabil said and placed his hand on her shoulder.
She looked at Sabil and smiled gently. "Not as much as Mr Javier Pérez."
Sabil laughed. "Si. Him too." He then looked at me. "Let me show you my cabin."
I nodded and passed an awkward smile at Beatrisa. She smiled at me awkwardly too. Sabil held my hand again and toed me to the left, towards the giant wooden door. Both his bouncers waited near the reception.
As he pushed the brown wooden door open, I gaped. It was only a little smaller than the reception downstairs. The room was entirely white. There was a window wall at the far end, from where the skyline was visible. A wide mahogany desk right in the middle of the room with two grey chairs for the visitors and a huge black leather chair in the front. A silver apple computer sat on the right side of his desk, two landlines, a book in the middle, few pens neatly set on the, left and two tall white lamps on their either side of the mahogany desk.
"Is this your cabin or your bedroom?" I asked while looking around in amazement.
Sabil laughed and grabbed me from my waist.
I slapped his hands that were on my stomach. "Behave. This is an office."
"My office." He whispered and kissed my neck.
