“How’s our birthday girl doing?” the doctor asks, flipping through my chart with that polite, practiced smile.
“I’m… fine,” I murmur, though my heart is doing backflips.
“You’re lucky, young lady,” he continues, glancing at me. “First, you healed incredibly fast. Your wolf’s energy is remarkable. Second… Thanks to your brother here. He performed the blood ritual that brought you back after the crash.”
Mother gasps, turning sharply toward Brother.
“You did that?” she demands, eyes wide, and he nods, meeting my eyes. My chest tightens at that silent connection.
“Yes,” the doctor confirms, glancing at Cassian briefly before focusing back on his notes. “I’ll run one last check, and then she’ll be ready to go home.”
“That's great news.” Mom beams.
