After disconnecting the call, Annika shook her head and looked over at Leon, wearing his signature smirk.
“What?”
“Are you and Doc Malloy always like this?”
“We’re best friends. Of course, we are.”
“I’ll be subjected to this type of banter between you two more often than not, aren’t I?”
“Well, if you plan on being with me for an extended period of time, then yes, Leon. You will have to listen to our banter.”
“Great,” Leon muttered under his breath.
“What was that?”
“Nothing, babe,” Leon replied and quickly took Annika’s hand into his, kissing the back of it to distract her. The pair had barely settled into the backseat of the car Toby had prepared for them when Leon’s phone rang next. As soon as he realized it was Jorge calling, he promptly answered and placed the call on speaker.
