The first thing that Lorraine saw as she came to was white. Everything was just white and nothing else.
At first, the princess was scared. She thought that she was dead and the thick expanse of white in front of her was the afterlife. But then, she began to feel pain. Every part of her body hurt; even the beating of her heart filled her with anguish; and she knew right away that she wasn't dead. The dead didn't feel pain, or the beating of their heart for that matter.
But the thing is, Lorraine had no idea whatsoever of why she was seeing white or in so much pain. The last thing her mind could recall was she, Richard, and Lavern settling down to dinner. But everything after that was a haze.
