CHAPTER TWO — JUSTIN

“So, we’re hoping to recruit social media influencers for the app. And if you could just look at the ad copies we’ve sent to your office and make a decision about the colors and schematics…” The head of marketing said. “Beyond social media influencing, how do you intend to reach the people who are off social media?” I asked, already bored and glancing at my wristwatch. The head of marketing wrung her fingers nervously. “I’m sorry, but what’s your name again?” I asked. “Charity,” she answered. “Charity, um, sorry this is all so great, but it’s also incredibly boring. Of course, we’d use social media influencers. That’s not why I asked for this presentation. I am looking for out-of-the-box ideas for pushing this product when we launch it. We’re targeting at least ten million users in the first week. How can we do that? How can we reach our goal? How can we convince people in Australia and Africa to use our app?” I asked. In case, no one noticed yet, I was incredibly stressed. “What’s our target audience?” I heard someone ask from behind. I turned my chair in the direction of the voice. A blonde girl stepped out of the way to reveal --- The girl from the elevator. I almost let an imperceptible smile escape from the corners of my lips. I leaned back on the chair and examined the girl. She was not too tall with thick, auburn hair and perfect boobs that spilled out of the cleavage of her barely-buttoned shirt. There was something about her – I had noticed it back in the elevator. She was incredibly sexy in an innocent sort of way. Take for instance, the glasses she was wearing. She pushed it up her nose now and tucked strands of her hair away from her nose. My eyes lowered to her lips – her soft, plump, well-oiled lips. Suddenly, I was overwhelmed by an undeniable desire to lay her across my bed and spank her until her pale skin turned red. She looked so nerdy, so innocent like the kind of girl who could be pushed beyond her limits. I wanted her desperately from the moment she fell on my feet. She had peered up through those glasses and captivated me. “Anya, now’s not the time,” Charity reprimanded her crudely. “No, it’s fine. I want to hear what she’s got,” I said. I wanted to listen to her soft voice speak. She sounded so uncertain, so softly. Anya, I murmured her name under my breath. A seductive name for a seductive woman. There were lots of women in the world and I had had my fill of them but I had never met anyone who was so naturally magnetic. “Sir, she’s just an intern. This is her first day. She doesn’t have a clue about the product,” Charity came closer to tell me. I put up a hand to stop her. “I don’t care. Anya, is it? Come here,” I said. “Me?” Anya asked uncertainly, peering fearfully at Charity. “Yes, you. Come here,” I said, gesturing for her. She took a step unsteadily toward me. I pointed to the chair close to me. “Sit,” I said. She settled herself down on the chair. My nostrils were immediately filled with the sweet-smelling scent of her perfume. “Good girl,” I said. She blushed deeply, her cheeks turning red. She had interlocked her fingers across her lap. She looked so malleable; an obedient girl who would do anything I commanded. “Now, tell me, what do you think?” I asked. Anya cleared her throat. “It’s a fitness app? We could reach beyond the influencers to the masses by showing them exactly why we are different from all the other apps on the market. Well, first, we need to zero in on the most distinctive quality of the app and focus on that,” Anya said. I listened to her without really hearing what she was saying. My eyes and attention were drawn to her lips – those perfect lips, the pure whiteness of her teeth and the red lipstick that accentuated her beauty. She was gripping. “Hmm, seems like you have some ideas and I’ll be interested in hearing them. So, why don’t you come up with a whole new marketing plan and show it to me tomorrow. I’ll make a decision then,” I said. “WHAT?” the entire room erupted. I stood up, buttoning up my suit jacket. “Yes. I’m deeply unsatisfied with this current presentation. I want something fresh, something bold and captivating. I want the masses to be convinced to use our products. It’s a competitive market out there. We need to stand out. So, Anya, you are going to come up with a new campaign and present it to me tomorrow by noon. Do not let me down,” I said. Charity ran up to me. “Sir, I’m not sure you understand. Today is Anya’s first day. She’s just an intern. She’s a novice,” Charity said. I wasn’t sure if I could detect envy or rage in her tone. “I have some creative design background,” Anya piped up from behind Charity. I flashed her a quick, short smile. “Good, then you should be able to handle a campaign of this magnitude. I can’t wait to see what you come up with,” I said. “Oh my God, this can’t be happening,” Charity said. “Don’t worry, I’m not promoting her over you. You still have your job. You should supervise her and make sure that she gets it right. This is your department’s last chance to impress me,” I said before heading out. My assistant, Bill, met me outside. He handed a thin file to me. “Do you know an intern called Anya? She’s a new hire. Could you bring me everything you can find on her please?” I told him. “Right away, sir!” I had a feeling, for just the briefest moment, that Anya was about to change my life forever. She was dangerous and I could feel myself running straight into the danger.
