The man chuckled. “Nice screws indeed.” Lisa’s skin prickled. She could feel him glancing sideways at her. Maybe it was curiosity. Maybe it was recognition or from the shawl slowly suffocating her. His voice was exactly how she remembered. Except this time, it was deeper and richer. “You do know this is a public elevator, right?” he asked. Lisa didn’t answer. He chuckled. “You’re either a fashion forward ninja… or terribly lost.” She nearly choked. Don’t make eye contact, Lisa. Don't sniff. Don’t even blink. You are nobody. You are a high-end mummy on a coffee run. The man squinted. Lisa smiled politely. Or at least she thought she did. It was hard to tell with her lips frozen in panic. The silence was unbearable.
