A BABY?

Now he just pretends doesn’t even see her, it hurt her.    Again her head goes fuzzy but this time her stomach turns inside she immediately find a place to park. She took several breaths to keep nausea at bay and it worked.  She left the restroom into the streets and the pharmacy gets into view. She sighed and went in she grabbed the item and brought it to the cashier who gave her a weird look and that was the last thing she needed. In her car, she stared at the test “Can’t believe I’m doing this.” She muttered to herself in frustration.  She placed her head on the staring wheel and hugged herself she felt her breast was quite sore and she was even more convinced of what was happening to her. She looked at her tummy “If you’re really there… I’m screwed, no… we’re screwed.” She whispered the last part. She was started talking to no one in particular. She started the engine drove off.  She picked up her little brother and they went home together. They arrived home and Claire made dinner for everyone like always, she keeps her mom’s own in the fridge. She helps her brother with his homework the put him to bed when the time is due. Once it did she took the tests and went to the bathroom and did as instructed. When she saw the result her breath got caught in her throat.  She had to admit that she just took it all as a joke but when she saw those two bars she felt a huge weight of responsibilities drop on her shoulders. She was shocked, her heartbeat accelerated, her head felt light, words could not form. What would her mom say, will she be able to cater for a baby at such a young age, will she even survive the labor pains? People die from that! These thoughts scared the heck out of her but none more than the father of her baby, Alexander White. Tears appeared in her eyes she had no idea whether it was the hormones or genuine tears but she sobbed out all her fear.  Claire heard her door open and footsteps drew closer to her, she didn’t bother to raise her head since Claire recognized it as her mother’s. She placed her hand on Claire’s back and gently rubbed it.  “You knew didn’t you?” Claire’s head was still down when she asked her mother who had a pained expression. “Yes, honey.”   Claire POV I didn’t say anything I just broke down in her embrace. My tears and snort rubbed off on my mom’s shirt she didn’t complain after all she was the one to change my diapers. I giggle at the thought of diapers.  This pregnancy may not be the most thought out thing to happen to me. But weirdly enough I was excited about this new experience I sniffed and ask my mom a question that I thought my mom will get annoyed. “Mom, can I keep it.” She immediately scolded “Are you nuts cause you’re keeping my grandchild.” I was a bit surprised but the feeling of joy overshadowed it. I heard the door creak open and a little boy stood there with his blonde hair and brown eyes. I smiled and motioned him to come over.  He slowly walked to us with his head slightly tilted with worried eyes probably wondering why I’m crying. He hugged me and our mom but didn’t say anything. Max was a smart kid he knew when to ask and when not ask. I realized that I wasn’t alone my family was complete with or without my asshole of a father [mine not the baby’s] we loved each other and that was enough and now we will have one more member.  A week later I sat in my car with my head on the steering wheel while my hands wrapped around my belly. It’s been a week since I decided to tell Alexander about his baby but, how do I do it. I can’t just walk up to him and say ‘Hey, remember the passionate night we had? Well, you didn’t wear a condom and I forgot birth control pills were a thing so yeah we made baby, shall we talk about child support.’ I giggled at my own imaginary boldness. I shook my head just then I noticed his car speeding off. I started mine and went home.  In the house, I paced around for about two hours panicking then I steeled my heart and resolve to break the news to him.
